This playthrough will suck immensely. You absolutely must have 9 Str and Rooted in your build at the start, or you won't kill shit.

Blitz is another must have perk, but you can sort of get by at the beginning by using your companion to draw fire.

1 Int is the way to go. Idiot Savant is good. Lifegiver is a must.

I recommend rolling with Power Armor even though you can't use power fists in it. You can however use Pain Train to knock enemies down and you will die a lot less.

Either that or just go stealthy route, it's pretty easy once you get Blitz and Ninja, you will one shot almost everything with 10x crit eventually.

NV is basically great. Aside from technical stuff and some gameplay things but they're shit in all gamebryo games.

4 is for faggots, although its raw gameplay is better than NVs and miles better than 3's. Its storytelling is almost as shit as 3's and its decision to voice the protagonist has steered the series in a venomously stupid direction, possibly forever, as it may be expected by new fans in later iterations of fallout.

To be fair perks can make you highly resistant to radiation. Aquaboy or whatever it's called pretty much cancels out most of the radiation you encounter. Also remember that your SS doesn't actually die at any point, you just reload. It could be that the effects on you are only on the surface. As for t-60, I could have stomached it if it weren't just inflated t-45 armor, or if it had been produced by the brotherhood post-war using tooling designed for t-45 armor or something.

I've built atrium with overseer window and office overlooking it and it been a pain to fit other stuff in. Still not sure how I'm going to make it all connect through the tunnels. 1. His entire point about ariborne FEV is wrong as Avellone specifically said in the Fallout Bible that airborne FEV wasn't a thing, and that all post-war mutations are the result of radiation only, something Tim Cain also confirmed, and something BEthesda themselves have also said.

His entire first paragraph is literally based on a false assumption that airborne FEV exists when it doesn't.

2. His point about Big Mt's teleportation ignores the fact that Big MT needed an entirely satellite, as big as the Institute's teleporer chamber, to teleport people. So Big Mt did achieve any better teleportation there.

Not to mention Big MT's teleporter could only teleport back to the satellite, whereas the Institute's could teleport back anywhere.

3. His third paragraph about Curie is entirely misleading, as it implies The Institute was ever TRYING to cure all disease, which they were not. curie can't beat them in something they never attempted.

4. His point about the Shi is equally misleading, as it ignores the fact that the Shi's plantlife can go crazy and kill everyone there, something the Institute never had a problem with. Hes also wrong in the idea that they can make vrtibirds, nothing says they can, his point about repairing power armor is nullified by the fact that Fallout 4 made it to where anyone can, and his point about nuclear power ignores the fact that the Institute modified a pre-war reactor to generate literally endless power forever far outstripping the Shi.

There's nothing wrong with chems. The issue is that you reach a point where the guns become worse than a BB gun so you're almost forced to use them which is wrong. The gunplay feels like gunplay until you hit 30 or so and suddenly everything you pick up is a water pistol until you get to very endgame weapons like the Gauss Rifle, which still feel awful.

Critical hits in the first place are bad game design in a first/third person shooter. As a matter of fact, they're bad game design in FO1 and 2.

Critical hits are a shit holdover from a shit PNP rpg, supposed to represent the chance of hitting something vital (eyes, groin, etc). But in FO1 and 2 you can already intentionally target vital parts, and in 3, NV, and 4, headshots are as simple as "aim at head, pull trigger".

At any point in which you introduce an artificial barrier to something that you could otherwise implement more realistically, you are doing nothing but introducing artificial difficulty defined.

To make matters worse, if the ONLY reason the speech skill, or Charisma stats, or whatever a specific game uses for their speech checks, is important is because of said artificial barrier, that means the skill or stat is inherently worthless, and you should probably look for more ways to have it be used.

Putting up a flat skill check is literally nothing but the easy way out for lazy devs who are unwilling, or unable, to make skill choices matter because they logically WOULD matter in the situations provided, and instead are just resorting to

Getting into a Vault is a hurdle itself, the doors are made to withstand a direct nuclear strike, and, without a pipboy, are basically impossible to open.

Thinking further on this I would have actually started the game immediately with the scene where your spouse gets shot and only reveal the time spent in the pre-war era as part of a much lengthier "Memory Den" sequence, not to imply that being frozen messed with your memories but that the eventful and traumatic happenings began at the start of that day and avoiding what was actually a rather slow and boring way to start Fallout 4.

Also would have allowed for more player control over their character's past, as playing a more action-oriented Nate would have had some brief flashbacks of his time as boots-on-the-ground infantry and at Anchorage, whereas an actiony Nora would have been on the beat as a police officer/JAG officer or similar job that would explain her ability with firearms.

A talkier Nate would have been a diplomat or translator witnessing one of the attempted and failed "peace talks" leading up to the surprise attack in Anchorage, whereas Nora would be depicted as successful in a courtroom after an especially difficult case.

The list goes on. Not only would you have to completely write the character history in stone as you could base it entirely off the skills the player is making the most use of in the game, you'd still have an opportunity to present a more "cinematic" backstory for the characters leading up to the day the bombs dropped without wasting precious time on a very ho-hum presentation of a stereotypical merc like Kellogg.

Outpost Zimonja - cozy, small, comes with some prebuilt stuff

Starlight Drive-in - large, good RP-ability, almost center of Diamond City & Sanctuary

Hangman's Alley - pure coziness, albeit in a dangerous place (raiders and mutants can spawn nearby), requires a Quest to unlock (Preston), can build some awesome little hideout here

If you are on PC, you will want the Spring Cleaning and Place Anywhere mods so you don't have to deal with the retarded, ridiculously restrictive object snapping and placements that are in the base game.

this is my current base, I got a settle anywhere mod that let me set up a camp right on top of V111. Most of my settlements are pretty bare-bones, all my effort has gone into Sanctuary recently (I've walled off everything outside the cul-de-sac's sidewalk and built my gate right beside Rosa's house)

Damage reduction as in DR. It gives you a huge boost in armor. The idea is that you can go full John Matrix and just run through lots of fire unscathed.

Alright, retexture done for the shotgun missile launcher. Had to tweak some of the settings though, a max of 90 degrees for the projectile spread means that occasionally a piece of shrapnel lands at your feet and explodes.

How long did it take you to make some of these custom weapons? Do you create custom scripts from scratch or just mash up ones that already exist?

My biggest disappointment with FO4 was the lack of genuinely unique weapons. Other than the cannon and alien gun, everything I found could have just been dropped by a generic legendary enemy. I would love to create some actual weapons.

I have the very basics of using the CK down, it's just the Shredder attachment appears to use an enchantment to give the minigun a melee attack when it's out of bullets.

I'll try the idea of making it an extremely short range firearm if I can't convert it into a weapon like the ripper. Only issue is that I think the Shredder only works as a melee weapon if the minigun has no ammo, so it might require me to create a new ammo type, then purposefully not include it in the game. It will also mean that any melee modifiers wont display properly on the item stats.

No big plans, just a stripped down minigun without the drum, barrel replaced with a drill. I'll make a Meat Grinder mod upgrade so it looks more like the Shredder if I can get it to work how I want. It's a bit more complicated than just fiddling with numbers or replacing a mesh, so I thought I would ask.

Yes, I'm using mods but I didn't have that problem till I tried to start a new game. Also, I get to verifying the cache then.
