repostan...

I have a generator, a terminal, and the exercise bike all linked.

The terminal does not seem to register that the bike exists.

If I try to make the connection generator to bike, then from bike to terminal, the terminal does not receive power. It's like the bike doesn't exist.

But, if I manually assign someone to sit on the bike, the terminal will receive power, but still won't go past the "Initializing" part of boot up. As if nothing is attached.

I've read a bit online and apparently this is moderately common.

Anyone else have this issue?

The only thing Maxson does different is that he spends more time collecting tech from ruins then Lyons did.

AI pathing is worse in Vault Tec DLC than anywhere else in the game. Most of the time my settlers just stand in the middle of the atrium all day. The atrium is very open, all of their workstations are directly bordering it and they still just stand there. Companions don't navigate properly either, even if you scrap literally everything in the caverns.

His Securitrons are always upgraded at the Lucky 38.

So much for a stealthy entrance: as soon as I entered the suite, I got lasers being shot at me while I took out the ones I could (including Jane) using my pulse slugs.

Had to retreat and stay on the top floor, as Securitrons can't climb stairs. Seconds later I discovered one of the mods (or the vanilla game) makes it so that low Explosives = throw things like a baby, meaning my pulse grenades exploded right in front of me.

Then made the mistake to look for the remaining Securitrons, only for one to blast me using his missiles. Took Hydra and retreated back up, sniping them from there, until only there was one left and caught him from behind.

Then I evaded the remaining two Securitrons in the secret room using a Stealth Boy, killed House with a SHITTON OF BULLETS (what the fuck is up with that, really), and the job was done. ED-E is waiting for me near the Mormon Fort.

Sometimes, I wonder if Bethesda released the settlement system so they can look at potential future town designers to hire, or so they can rip off designs for towns in future games.

Seriously, some of the settlements that people create in FO4 put the default towns to shame.

>>149928204
Probably great against enemies that can't block. But theoretically a level 1 raider with a knife could take zero damage from that thing.
>>
>>149928128
>>149927982
That's a raider name though and they just take any old scrap/weapon related word. "Gage" could be a guy's name as easily as "Slag" or "Clutch" could be a girl's name.
>>
>>149928049
Bethesda does know how to make them. However the bigass cities in their previous titles got more than a little flak and with bethesda's use of non-static clutter and persistent npcs with schedules and shit would set consoles on fire and if they didn't, you'd just get lost and have a shitton of pointless npcs that just fill space

One wonders if the X-01 is even the PA that the Enclave uses in FO2. There's some visual similarities, but it seems like the Enclave armor has some minor differences in the helmet and looks sleeker and more compact.

But aside from that, I agree. Having a sleek, streamlined and alien-looking PA really helped hammer in that the Enclave were operating on a completely different tech level and ideological level than anyone else in the wasteland.

Actually I will go into detail
1. There's too many ramps/staircases, its not very well designed for quick movement anywhere.

2. Shit is so stacked on each other, and on poor supports, that the entire city should be one strong breeze away from collapsing.

3. The statues put on top of the towers shouldn't be able to be supported by how flimsy the wood is.

4. The same is true of that vertbird landing spot

5. the towers aren't placed in spot that are actually useful for spotting things, and they are far too open/exposed to be homes.

6. Theres a barn on the right hand side sitting so high off the ground you can't even actually use the main entrance for anything

The list goes on, everything about is designed to be
>FOR DE KEWLS!
but as a functioning city its actually kinda bad.

Light leaked through the corner piece because the wall that's catching it doesn't know there's a wall blocking it.

Frankly, it's a pain in the ass even with modded lights.

I had to resort to hiding the Wasteland Workshop streetlights in vault columns. For what it's worth, it works pretty well since it also emits a huge amount of ambient light that dispels most of the dark spots in wide open areas.

There's also a few new mods on the nexus that greatly increase the light radius of the flourescent lights added in with the Vault-Tec DLC. It might be worth checking out.

>Why not just have speakers on the inside and outside of their base or attach an audio device to their ear.
Because synths are sent outside to collect resources and shit?

You are even told by Liam that he forges fake work orders to get synths who want to escape out. To the Institute, they are just sending synths out on typical resource collection jobs, and then they run away.

Its not like all synths are meant to remain indoors.

And veen if they were, did you forget the Institute's only entrance is a teleporter that can teleport anywhere in the Commonwealkth? Its not like theres some door the Institute can just place speakers on the other side of constantly spamming every synths recall code in case they get out.

Seriously, have you played the game? nothing about that question makes sense.

So, continuing a bit of a discussion from the last thread: did Bethesda really take the Retro-futurism thing too far in the aesthetic?

Or did Black Isle not take enough advantage of it?

One of the things that bugs the shit out of me with a lot of Bethesda's weapon designs is that they don't seem to implement that fact that the guns they're basing their weapons on in FO4 would have been over a hundred years old by the time the bombs fell, and in the case of the 'assault rifle' more than ONE HUNDRED FIFTY.

Meanwhile, looking at a comparison of the TV-sets in the FO1 intro to the one seen in the homes of FO4 (and recalling more than a few pictures of some actual 1950's TV sets that did look like the ones you see in FO4) the latter actually does make a bit more sense.

Why in god's name would a society with the technological ability to realize their images of the future still be using the common design used over one hundred years ago?

Resource shortages, okay, sure. And there is also the whole bullshit both Black Isle and Bethesda keep trying to push about how we magically never could figure out colored displays for anything.

But if there's going to be that, why not retro-futuristic TVs with the separated monitor? Also, look at the designs for vehicles in the magazine page here. Does the plane or the car not look familiar? Probably saw some things like it in-game.

I guess I kind of lost my point a bit here, the more I type the more I think "fuck both Black Isle and Bethesda, Fallout needs a whole fucking reboot."

I mentioned the firearm trap because you can attach any firearm to it, presumably a modded one, too.

The trick would be to get it to fire on an interval. Then you could have a gun that shoots train bullets, possibly with a knockback/stagger effect to simulate physics.

Would that even work?
>>
>>149936458
Yeah but it'd look weird. I'd rather figure out the physical trap anyway, for various reasons.

>>
>>149935709
Cant you make the train a physics object with mass? then have it attached to something else moving but not necessarily collidable?

Or attach an invisible collidable heavy physics object like a car or something to the train model, which you then make move? When the physics object hits the player it will probably kill them.
>>
>>149936646
>Henry Eden is a bad example.
Not really, he is the only ZAX to have achieved self-awareness besides maybe the ACE from Fallout 2, who directly states hes not a true artificial intelligence, but then mentions he gets lonely sometimes.

>But when she gets put in a synth brain she's free to think
Which is the point.

>So create a obedient to the institute robot A.I. and put it in a synth brain.
And again, thats totally missing the whole point behind synths, which are to make artifical humanoid that can think for themselves to some degree as to avoid the problems of normal robot AI that gets caught in logical loops like Mr Handy robots do.

Like, at this point, I really just think your purposefully asking the same dumb questions over and over, no one can be this thick skulled or retarded without it being a troll.

>Black Isle did it for the irony
>did it for the irony
>making aspects of a setting ironic

You know... The more I hear about Black Isle's work with Fallout, the more I think I wouldn't enjoy Fallout 1 or 2 anymore than I enjoy 4 or 3. Which is to say: fun, but filled with glaring fucking pet peeves of mine when writing.

Spoilering a highly autistic and faggoty rant.

You don't make aspects of a setting 'ironic'. Who the fuck builds an entire society 'ironically'? Do people think when Southern plantation owners built their Antebellum, neoclassic mansions they thought "oh, this lovely alabaster white and greco-roman inspired architecture contrasts marvelously with the slave houses and the niggers being brutally beaten out in the open"?

No, they did it because it showed off their wealth and status, they saw themselves as the peak of American society and culture and black people as slaves were extensions of that. That they were giving them purpose and meaning. That's ironic when you look at it from an outsider's perspective, not when you're the one building the whole thing up.

H.G. Wells' stories were written almost entirely as social commentary and he had the god given sense not to write parts of his setting as 'ironic'.

>>
>>149937101
I should amend that H.G. Wells didn't write his stories and the settings within to be ironic from an in-universe stand point. War of the World's was highly ironic because the mighty British Empire was getting their asses kicked by an invading force with superior technology.

To make sure the people of the surface couldn't possibly rally against them and destroy their hugbox
>>
>>149937565
thinking of it that way, even Obsidian/Chris supports this since in NV a huge issue with all the factions is that they're repeating past mistakes.

House is trying to preserve his ideas of Pre-war America.

NCR is making the mistakes of pre-war American government.

Legion... Is pretty obvious since they wear it with pride.

And even Yes Man ending, in which nothing changes, basically means you're repeating the mistakes of the present.

Interplay did.

The entire Fallout 1 intro is ironic. You have this wonderful world where a robot can walk the fucking dog, then the camera pans out and shows that perfectly advanced society is now ashes.

Bethesda doesn't get Fallout. Fallout 3 completely missed the point of the series, and the intro is the best way to notice that. It goes on and on about war, flames, bombs, it's such a sad place to live, and so on, whereas NV starts like "the world was fire, yes, but is now rebuilding".

>Synths are immune to radiation and should bet equipped enough to take on a lot of the shit thrown at them in the wasteland
Yes, but the radioactivity is why the HUMANS of the Institue don't care about the surface. They built synths to be radiation immune so they aren't effected by it, but the actual people avoid it at all costs, and have nmo desire to go up there because of it.

>I'm pretty sure a lot of people are suspicious of the mayor in diamond city so they did a pretty shit job at remaining inconspicuous.
It wasn't about remaining inconspicuous, it was abut inserting deep divided in the community so that people can't really togeather. Which is why the mayor got the ghouls thrown out i nthe first place, to divide the community.

And what did we learn in New Vegas?

That In 200 years time the overwhelming majority of the states of Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana had developed literally nothing more then primitive spear chucking tribal groups, with one or two small towns like New Canaan and Two0sun, and even then Raul says Two-Sun was so bad you couldn't trade two miles down the raod becuase it was so think with raiders.

On the other hand the east coast had made Diamond City, Megaton, established trade routes hundreds of miles long, by land and sea, both within their own local wastelands, and between the major wastelands like the Capital Wasteland and The Commonwealth.

On top of that, most every town had some form of water purifier, there was established hydroponics in places like Rivet City, and farming in places like Diamond City, and on top of all that, the people of these wasteland had survived anywhere from 100-200 years of near endless super mutant hordes, larger then the masters, without utterly collapsing like the West Coast does if their super magical Gary Stu Vault Dweller doesn't save their ass in Fallout 1.

New Vegas quite literally showed that the east coast was miles more devloped and civlized then any place in the post-War U.S. besides the NCR.

The thing is the west coast has the largest nation but everything outside of it is still a backwater. The east coast has more independent places which are mostly if not entirely self-sufficient, it's just that no governing faction has yet arisen to unite them. As far as I know there's only one known attempt at that on the EC (the CPG) and it collapsed right out of the gate due to infighting. Maybe the Minutemen will become that faction.

The Minutemen show no plans for expansionism or conquest, outside The Commonwealth, they simply want to make the status quo less shitty by killing off the raiders, super mutants and ferals.

They are really no more likely to form a nation then the Maxson BoS is, though they may indirectly help a nation rise by removing the biggest problems preventing them from forming, like the Maxson BoS does with its crusades to kill all mutants, and ferals.

Except they DID survvie without it.

Megaton was over 100 years old by the time of Fallout 3.

the point of the purifier wasn't that people needed it to survive, its that the aggressive form of radiation in the Capital Wasteland area made large scale water purifier impossible, so people couldn't do anything but JUST survive.

Eden even goes over this on the radio

You're thirsty, aren't you America? Not for knowledge or power, no. I'm not speaking metaphorically. You're thirsty for clean, fresh water. Hmm? Water is the foundation of life. But here, in the Capital Wasteland, indeed the entire country, water is polluted. Irradiated. Deadly. Maybe you've got a makeshift purifier that cleans one glass of dirty water a day. Or you sip from an ancient faucet in an abandoned subway restroom. But that's not really living, is it? You're simply existing, America. Postponing death for a day or two.

Because it's an arbitrary decision of yours.

"The East Coast is completely barbaric, aside from Diamond City and Megaton".

All of those cities I mentioned when on to become the NCR, but they existed as separate places beforehand.

>According to Sawyer the Legion does not make cities of its own, its just captured what small towns of non-tribals it comes across.

This is what Caesar says:

"We have cities of our own, but nothing compared to Vegas. Finally, my Legion will have its Rome."

Also, a town is a town. We don't know what Sawyer considers as towns, but I certainly don't consider any place in Fallout 3 as a "city".

>>149941535

>The East coast did get assfucked much harder by the nukes

Kind of a joke, but not really: this is literally what Bethesda wanted. They needed an absolute desolate landscape, and came up with this silly idea just to have that perfect S.T.A.L.K.E.R atmosphere.

Because losing a few =/= losing a lot.

Because the bomb doesn't produce enough radiation to irradiate anything besides shit directly touching it.

Do you fucking know anything about Fallout m8?

No seriously people get exposed to radiation daily and don't die unless its super high concentrations.

Fallout radiation =/= real world radiation, hence ghouls and mutant animals.

No it isn't because, like I said originally, NEW VEGAS ITSELF stated that the NCR was an utterly unique entity, even in the west, and that everywhere else was just spear chucking tribals, or a few small towns so plagued with raiders they couldn't trade with anyone.

>All of those cities I mentioned when on to become the NCR, but they existed as separate places beforehand.

>This is what Caesar says:
And here is what Saywer says
http://fallout.gamepedia.com/Caesar%27s_Legion#cite_note-BCKD1-1

"Edward Sallow created Caesar's Legion as an imitation of the Roman Legion, but without any of the Roman society that supported the Roman Legion. I've written this before, but there are no optimates, no populares, no plebes, no equestrians, no patricians, no senate, no Rome. There's no right to private property (within the Legion itself). There's no civil law. There aren't even the ceremonial trappings of Roman society. Legates don't receive triumphs following a victory. No one in the Legion retires to a villa in Sedona... Caesar's Legion isn't the Roman Empire or the Roman Republic. It isn't even the Roman Legion. It's a slave army with trappings of foreign-conscripted Roman legionaries during the late empire. All military, no civilian, and with none of the supporting civilian culture."

>"Even in ancient Rome's slave-based economy the majority of people weren't slaves. Is that the case with the Legion and is that what you wanted to show with additional Legion locations?

>The additional Legion locations would have had more traveling non-Legion residents of Legion territories. The Fort and Cottonwood Cove made sense as heavy military outposts where the vast majority of the population consisted of soldiers and slaves. The other locations would have had more "civilians". It's not accurate to think of them as citizens of the Legion (the Legion is purely military), but as non-tribal people who live in areas under Legion control.

There are hardly any cities properly speaking in the East.

Play Fallout 4 and Far Harbor, we are told many in the church are born with the gift of immunity to radiation.

Those in the church who are not immune use radaway before the rads reach so high that ghoulfication would become a problem.

>"either you are a mindless raider or a nice civilized person"

So, this makes me want to ask: what kind of groups and 'temperaments' for groups would you want to insert into fallout 4 or future fallout games?

For example:
>Junkers
>Temperment: Always hostile (even towards eachother if no one comes along) unless taking chems
>Junkers are an extremely loose knit gang of 'raiders' or who are hopeless chem addicts. Most often hopped up on a potent cocktail of buffout, jet, and psycho, though 'leadership' of bands seems to be done by members who have heavily abused mentats and day-tripper.
>Gameplay wise: they'll either attack anyone not another Junker (most times) or rush towards the nearest source of chems. In this respect, sneakier players could drop a bunch of chems near other raiders or enemies and let the Junkers distract them. Once they have a hold of sufficient chems for their group, they will be busy for at least five minutes enjoying their high.

On the flipside:
>Loa Tribals
>Temperament: Will only attack if you approach their strongholds 'uninitiated' and will even give you fifteen seconds to turn around from that. You can talk and trade with any random Tribal you find in the wastes.
>Loa Tribals follow nigh-forgotten practices of voodoo and hoodoo sorcery. Or so they claim. Despite their apparent insanity, there seems to be some truth to their words as they're often in company of tamed feral ghouls and seem able to traverse the wastes unharassed by wildlife, even deathclaws.
>Gameplay: Loa tribals will be 'distrusting of outsiders' and can understandably be defensive of their own settlements. But are otherwise perfectly willing to trade and even induct new members. Once inducted, you are seen as 'part of the family' unless you make some serious transgression against them.

The idea is to try to make up different groups of wastelanders who aren't necessarily 'civilized' but aren't always hostile. Just defensive and paranoid.
>>

I regret spending two days leveling this shitty melee build in Survival.

It's in every fucking way worse than putting some points into Rifleman, Demolitions and Big Guns. There rest doesn't even matter, I toss everything into Charisma, who gives two shits.

Melee however needs damn Agi and Luck for VATS and a ton of Strength which is generally the most shitty stat. Then it's not even remotely as good. Fuck melee.

You should check the cliffs around the Narrows. They grow maize, broc flower, xander root and other things. They have a huge surplus of these around the camp thus showing that they have organized agriculture, likely thanks to the New Canaanites. They also hunt, but it is not their sole form of food.
>>
>>149947146
>Not him but neither the Sorrows nor the dead Horses

The Sorrows grow corn. They also raise Geckoes. That's livestock.

As to how many Geckoes could feed the Narrows, well, that's a question for the resident Brahmin experts.

Okay but serious question, given that the average gecko weights around 80 to 160 kg depending on breed and that only about 40% of that mass is usable meat, the rest being bone and skin which, while usable in leatherworking and traditional crafts are obviously hardly countable in terms of food, and assuming the Sorrows have access to traditional meat preservation techniques such as making pemmican or jerky, how many geckoes per capita would it take for the Sorrows to have a sustainable food source, assuming they also forage?
>>
>>149947439
>So Bethesda could add in a cool place to explore?
No, because different places would have different reactions based on how much they were bombed.

You are aware the entire world wasn't bombed equally?

>Ok fine. It still doesn't make any sense to exist because while the children of Adam would stay there what about everyone else
Play the game, its stated they stayed there because when building the town the CoA was needed to break down and move the airplane parts. No one cared about the bomb because it was obviously not unstable or anything.

>You mean the paid ending dlc? Sometimes you die, sometimes you don't in the water purifier.

You can communicate with all of them. Some of them only understand force.

FO3 has more factions than NV and they have just as much importance to the outcome of the game as the factions you listed. After all, you can simply remove Khan and it will not prevent you from getting any one of the 4 different NV endings. You can't remove Legion though, can you, even if you kill every Centurion in the game...you have to face off against them on the Dam regardless. Same goes for the NCR.

Not him, but I feel you. Unarmed is the only build that is actively punished on any difficulty. The best weapon you can get is Swann's power fist and it takes so long to attack again it's near useless. The fact that you can't use unarmed weapons in power armor is also a HUGE detriment because even the best upgrades for it make you hit for less than you would outside of PA. The whole thing is garbage.

>>149947765
Assuming they don't sell the hides? A human, on average, requires 1500-3000 calories per day. Assuming a composition similar to alligator you'd get 143 calories per 3.5 oz of Gecko Meat or 654 calories per pound. A person would need about 4-5 pounds of Gecko per day to survive. You could feed 14 people per day per Gecko at the smallest without any sort of supplement.
>>
>>149947387
>But none of them effect the endings

Neither do any of the NV minor factions.

>Brotherhood: AND THEN THE BROTHERHOOD DIED/LIVED
>Followers: AND THEN THE FOLLOWERS DIED/LIVED
>Khans: AND THEN THE KHANS DIED/LIVED

And then you move on to the things that actually matter, like NCR and Legion.

The reason the DLCs were infinitely better than the shitty ass main game is that they were character driven in terms of their endings. Who gives a shit about some shitsplats in the middle of the desert, tell me about the individuals.

I dunno man, geckos seem way more active than gators, we're looking at active pursuit predators rather than sluggish until the point of attack ambush predators.

They're still geckoes so it's likely they spend a chunk of time sunning, but those large hind legs indicate a lifestyle and feeding strategy adapted for running down prey.

Because FEV is a man made virus that can be altered to do anything you want it to.

The Enclave did the exact same shit in Fallout 2, they made their own version of FEV that could target all mutant humans, but would spare all mutant wildlife.

FEV can be programmed to do near anything, it can make super mutants, it can kill super mutants, it can make ghouls with trees growing out of their heads, tit can be altered to attack species creatures, or literally everything.

You do make some fair points but at the end of the day the whole FOR DE KEWLS is still worthwhile for some people. The whole settlement system is a bit shoddy and empty as it is anyway (That said I have only played vanilla.) so what is the point of trying to make something that is realistic when it doesn't go further into the world with it functioning actually as a town economically and strategically (weather, foundations, raiders etc.). All of those things you mentioned don't actually matter at all in the game. Besides, it is unlikely that many of the actual settlements in past fallout games would meet your checklist.

>what is San Francisco- an independent city run by Chinese remnant commies
Though in Fo4, you see NCR shit and the Golden Gate bridge together during Kellog's dream, so idk.

Still, you have New Reno, Vault City, The Den, Gecko, and Klamath.
Pretty sure Redding and Broken Hills got taken over by the NCR, but the other cities I listed I'm not so sure.
They certainly aren't spear-chucking tribals.

Out lightly more east you also have Denver and Junction City.
Really, just look at the design notes for Van Buren.
Those areas according to NV are huge tribal hotspots, yet there's still plenty of "society" to go around.

The aesthetic of OG West Coast Fallout is more than wacky 50's, it's about the anachronism and disparity of the factions in the wasteland.
Compare the tribals to the vault dwellers, to the NCR, to the regular independent "wasters."

Additionally, Joshua Graham refers to the New Canaanites as "tribals."
He even says that the term "tribe" is just representative of a culture and a collective.
If an idea or a group of people is more than just a location, it's a tribe according to Graham.
Look at the Khan's, they've retained their culture and faction identity despite being uprooted SEVERAL times, both by the NCR and the original Vault Dweller.

It's interesting, because they clearly ran an internal jam during development that resulted in the addition of what seems to have been a very early version of the Atom Cats, among other things such as the PA Jetpack, a cancelled Steam Train of some sort, a cancelled version of what looks like a Fallout 1/2 style map (pic related,) and some other stuff that seems to be related to hostile wildlife, and synths.

Alright guys, I'm stumped, I started playing FO4 again after Survival Mode was introduced, actually having fun for a change but the no fast travel thing is finally getting on my nerves, I've lost all my companions except dogmeat. They're all suppose to gather at the starlight drive in but none of them are there anymore.

I've searched all my settlements and all I can find is dogmeat, even bloody Preston Garvey is MIA.

So far, I've been to all their original locations which took me a couple hours to check on each and every one of them. They are not there. I've rung the town bell to see if they're hiding or stuck in a settlement, not there either.

Help me /fog/ you're my only hope.

You're using too many ESPs. Unlike the other games (Fallout 3, Oblivion, Skyrim etc.) there's some weird shit going on with the index at which plugins are loaded into memory, the index doesn't start at 01 apparently.

So you can't have the main New Vegas esm + 254 plugins (01 to FE) + the save specific generated Ref IDs (ones starting with FF).

The solution is keeping your plugin count to under 135 if I remember correctly otherwise you'll get weird shit like that and crashes.

What are you talking about dipshit? The endings are about how the major factions deal with them and how they deal with each other. In fallout 3 they don't matter, they are never held up to any significance.Which is why you can't really interact with them. Saying "Hi" isn't interacting with them, they're just boring, gray robots with no purpose other than set up quests.

Okay, so I'm coming up on the end of my 2nd real playthrough where I actually do the main quest. This time I'm giving the institute the time of day since my last playthrough I turned them into a giant radioactive crater.

So I've been pretty friendly with the institute, I've diffused the reverse hunger strike with no casualties. I'm almost ready to bounce to that one skyscraper and get the power doo-dad.

Is there any point where I can ask people in the institute why the fuck they're making synths/super mutants and replacing people on the surface? I've yet to have this conversation with anyone in this damn place. I don't know if I'm just not finding the right people or going down the right conversation paths, but I can't seem to find the questions I want or the people I want to ask.

PC 'master race' being butthurt as usual. I say this as a PC player. Some gamers get weirdly vehement about the idea of customizing their game and think it should be a reserved privilege of having spent thousands of dollars on hardware.

Personally I say bring it on, it will be hilarious to watch people apply like 3 or 4 mods to their PS4 or Xbone only to have it instantly crash when they try to play.

This is explicitly disallowed, and can get you banned. If a mod author says that others don't have permissions to port, then that's just the way it is. However you feel about IP law, in the context of our current legal framework, that is something totally justified to get upset over.

Consoles has nothing to do with how a game is made, and a lot of average PCs are just barely above consoles.

The map has no real reason to be times larger, or more complex, plus there are a lot better, larger and more complex maps already on other games for console users to play.
>Thinking man
*TIPS FEDORA VAPES HARD!!*
Game balancing, deep moral consequnces, and important discussions, and expanded lore are all things that have nothing to do with limitations, you could make all of those things on a text based game of only 8 bits.

Bethesda chose to make the wasteland a dumbed down minecraft wasteland.

I don't think modders actually hate having a mod ported over.

I think what they hate is having a mod ported, not working, and then having all criticism directed to them instead of the person who did the porting.

Nope, the original mod creator has the sole rights to regulate distribution.

>People make mod edits all the time, what makes a port so different?
It's different because, if the mod author has not explicitly allowed porting, then it's stealing content. That's the same reason we can't freely port over content from Fo3/FNV - Bethesda has not allowed distribution.

>The Berne Convention states that unless explicitly stated otherwise, all rights are reserved

We can port The Witcher content over because that dev _has_ explicitly stated otherwise (against no redistribution).

oh great, a definition you can change at will.

>>149987648
and in Fo4 its effectively impossible to get even 1/3 of the total perks.

I cheated my ass to 10 in all special, and got the INT bobble head as soon as I could, for maximum EXP gain.

by the time I was done with everything in the base game, which means doing all quests, an umber fo radiant quests to unlock settlements for the Minutemen, playing every faction as far as I could go, and getting every collectible, and clearing every location at least once, + all currently released DLC, I was level 100 exactly.

Which is far short of the 340+ you need to max everything.

Theres no real way to get every perk, or even half the perks, in Fo4 unless you cheat heavily.
>>
>>149987679
Not him, but you're misrepresenting his point. Minmaxing your character is a totally valid route to play, but is generally considered to be entirely opposed to a roleplay character run because of the way it's based primarily around stats and nothing else.

C'mon, you can do better with your bait than this.

The game lets you use your roleplay skills all the time but you are limited, otherwise roleplay would be soulless and you might as well do a min max sneak archer

>>149987907
>>149987921
I'm not the anon you were arguing with, this is my first post in the thread.
I just read back in the chain.
Tho really, define "casual playthrough" and tell me exactly what I have to do to casually play the game.
>>
>>149987840
But the perk and skill systems are completely different, there's no space for comparaison here
>>
>>149988063
The anon I was responding to was the one who made the claim of
>>149987648
>Well yeah in fallout nv you can't become rank 1000 and get every single perk

I was just pointing out why you cant in Fo4 either.
>>
>>149988024
>Casual playthrough

A playthrough where you don't confine yourself to any roleplay or optimization rules
>>
>>149988186
So as soon as you decide to build a character a casual playthrough is ended.
Cool.
>>
>>149988268
So apparently by what
>>149988186
Said, no one has ever had a casual playthrough, because every single person I know who played NV, even console dudebros, built their character to have
>lockpick
>science
>speech

at 100, since, due to all the newer Fallout game's poor handling of lockpick/hacking, and Nv's poor handling of speech, you are basically forced to max all three to see even half of the interesting shit in the game

Sorry lad, didn't mean to quote you. Here, have another free (You) as recompense.

This. Off the top of my head:

- Gain the favor of the King to have Ralph make a pass for you.
- Pay the fee for the Securitrons, which admittedly is low in vanilla (you will most likely be rolling on caps).
- Disguise yourself as NCR and use the Monorail.
- Be NCR and use the Monorail.
- Science check (pic related, I had almost forgot about it).
- Shoot everyone up.

That's, in total:

- Entering through questing and reputation.
- Entering through money.
- Entering through combat.
- Entering through stealth.
- Entering through faction allegiance.
- Entering through skill check.

I never said anything about there not being enough choices in the game, I said the choices didn't matter.

Anon, don't be retarded.
>>
>>149990069
it doesn't matter if you build an almighty character or not, NV is so overblown with skillchecks and alternate paths that its effectively impossible to miss out on anything no matter your build.

Its a game were your build literally doesn't matter, since everyone can get everything no matter what.

There are things locked out of if you don't have enough skills. For example, arcade. He won't join you if you don't have low int, low speech, and straight.

how is the mod organizer front
is it still impossible to get it to work since bethesdas shit mod implementation?
>>
>>149992226
I use it. It works perfectly fine for me.
>>
>>149990427

This is a blatant lie. If you don't have an almighty character, you will miss out on a lot of quest opportunities and solutions. I know because my character has no Science, no Speech, and little above average Intelligence (6).
>>
>>149992226

Mods work, nad have worked, exactly the same way they have since Morrowind m8
>>

Funny, NMM does it just fine.

seems like MO is just out of date, or shit
>>

funny thing is, it's not out of date.
they updated it after the change

I understand as I have seen the same concept art but let's be real 5 is a sweet spot.

You could always make that an upgrade if you feel inclined to put in extra effort, though.

True, too bad it's actually a real hassle to turn a .44 into a revolver rifle since the anims fuck up. But I assume the pipe one should be good enough.

Actually looks neat.

Might make you want to play the game with multiple characters instead of just the one.
