Reading through the ME:A pastebin, is it wrong that I have hope? It looks like Bioware is going back to a lot of the facets they left behind in ME1, namely the exploration/RPG elements.

But alternatively, they could fuck it up. I wasn't a huge detractor of Inquisition, but I'd be pretty disappointed if it was the analogue for the next Mass Effect.

Aside from the SJW boogeyman drama, what are your legitimate concerns for Andromeda?

I finished all three games recently, and I don't get the overall arch of the Geth story. Are they ultimately too alien and peace will be difficult, or do they want to become real boys? I didn't notice this before. The only powers Shepard can have that other squad members can't are Adrenaline Rush, Charge, and Sentry Turret. Plus Tech Armor, technically, but that's basically just a palette-swapped Barrier or Fortification.

Part of why I don't like it though is, as vanguard, I was able to pick up flare as a bonus power and it was strong as fuck. Flare comes from Javik. There's also dominate, which adepts don't have, and dark channel, which adepts don't have. And reave. It seems like Adept Shepherd, while not necessarily the worst adept thanks to cooldowns, is a pretty boring adept.

I am replaying with EC but i still feel pain from time to time, not because ME3 ending was bad, but because it is over. Everything i did, all the friends i made, the galaxy i saved. Sometimes i feel lonely but remember that i got mass effect. but when i think about mass effect i feel lonely and feel it is not really the case. ME1 will probably bore you if you're the type that needs action all the time, it's got shitloads of dialogue, driving around, and inventory management, and the actual shooting mechanics are mediocre. But I still think it's a good game, for what that's worth. ME2 is definitely worth it, has a pretty good balance of dialogue and action and throws you in immediately. I bought it for $10 on Steam a year before I played it, having no knowledge of the series beforehand, and was hooked immediately. The characters and universe are usually engaging even if the story is sometimes lacking, and its fun to play with different weapons, powers, and teammates when fighting the fairly varied enemy sets.

Also it has the best space waifu and space husbando.

The big problem with doing it that way, besides lacking context for everything (unless you read the codex), is that if you don't import a save the game assumes you made all the worst choices in ME1. One of which (Wrex being alive or dead) actually matters. If you're on PC you can just download a save from one of the many websites that hosts them. If not you have to actually play ME1 or buy the shitty DLC that lets you pick your choices in ME2 (though that comes bundled with the PS3 version, so... you're only out of luck on the Xbox).

I romanced Steve and Kaidan once but feel like I really wanted to try out more, like Jacob or Garrus. Maybe? Probably not though, seeing as current bioware thinks it's more important that characters are quirky stereotypes instead of having proper complex personalities. And their women especially have to be sterilised as much as possible so they cant be seen as being problematic.

We already saw that a bit in ME3 with Traynor being full on awkward quirky with a toothbrush of doom which she uses to masturbate to Edi's voice. Contrast that with a character like Ashley for instance who had actual depth in ME1, being a bit xenophobic while having a good reason for that.

Then Inquisition made it even worse with Serah who was so batshit random that she can't really do anything wrong because "she's just fun and quirky! It's how she is xD!"

And even the other women like Cassandra fall into this quirky trap, being full on tsundere for Varric's trashy romance novels. So funnay!

They'll probably do the same shit with Andromeda. The buttugly Asari they've shown just screamed "fun quirky girl who just wants to have random fun!!!"

I don't think Whedon is terrible. I'm pretty sure there is a time and place for Whedon and Whedon-tier stuff. It's just that somehow everything is Whedon-tier nowadays and that needs to change.

Bioware talks a lot about characters being "organic" and feeling more "natural". I don't see that. I try and keyword here is "try" to let characters lead me to what they are, when I write, instead of leading characters to what I like them to be. And they may act completely different to what I would like to write, which, in turn, makes me a more versatile and varied writer. If I stick to my own comfort zone, I will never get better. Whedonism leads to stagnation.
