And the reason why is because MH tutorials aren't exactly great, so people can easily miss stuff for a long time.

Since Normal shots and Full Bursts were pretty much buffed because of the hunting styles, just stick to a position where there's no one attacking and to your thing. Shells deal neutral + fire, fixed damage so you don't have to stick to weakspots as much.

You could also try to be on a spot where weapons tend to bounce a lot and break them.

If you're using Wide, shell upwards, since you can't abuse full bursts. Or you could try Aerial: you can vault > shell > slam and deal decent enough damage without troubling anyone.

If you're having problems maintaining red heat while doing all of the above, try the dragon breath hunter art, it also boosts your shelling so it isn't a waste or just a crutch. But in my experience with the weapon, I haven't had problems hunting with others as long as I'm mindful of my positioning.

Also, don't go spamming "I'm sorry!" if you knock someone out. It's annoying to have that huge chat box appear everytime you fuck up, and most players expect to be launched at least once with a GL player around, since they don't know your skill level. If you fuck up, just get your shit together and play better.

Uh not really but I you want to minimize Axe mode, you could go Adept and Overcharge, so you're storing as many phials as you can before unleashing a 10 phial burst. This way, you're slicing away in sword mode as much as you can and only using the Axe mode for the burst. You'll also have guard pointing from the charged A double hit, so there's that.

Would pair that up with razor sharp, artillery novice, and focus if you can swing it.

Never played Monster hunter, but I have a N3DS XL and really wanna get into it. What title should I start with? I know they're all pretty similar, but I wasn't sure if I should start with Generations or something older.

So I'm looking at the LS tree on Kiranico, and I'm wondering how I can tell which weapons I have to upgrade to and which can be forged outright. I want to have every end of line LS available, but I want to minimize the amount of materials I have to grind for. This new upgrade system makes it seem more complicated. Anyone know how I can find that out?

MH4U is a better place to start, but the online is dead. Even so, the full solo campaign can last you a long time and if you try to do the online portion alone, you will end up investing hundreds and hundreds of hours into the game.

However, the game is quite hard and has a big learning curve, so you might not get into it. Either way, I advise MH4U even if just for the solo play. After you get used to the game, get Generations. If you do get Generations first, focus mostly on the solo quests, get used to the game and THEN go online. As you can see here on /mhg/, the population is a bit elitist and they might be a bit harsh on you.

It all depends on your money, though.

I'd say forget both and just stack offensive skills. Hammer has chunky MV in its most important attacks, it feels wasted not going for the head (usually the weakspot).

Stamina Thief can be pretty useful in HH tho, since it has more quick attacks and exhaustion per hit is actually higher than Hammer's.

I solo killed HR6 duramboros with a 190raw bow in 19 minutes. Without dash juices. Am I a shitter?

Aerial for airborne explosions all day, Adept for a sweet follow-up after a perfect guard.

It's happened way too often to be a one-time inconvenience. If people know they only have time to hunt their keys and nothing else, I'd rather them be honest and not promise a turns room if they're not going to be there to host it, it kills the mood for hunting since people got there to help the dude and have a good time.

Worst offender I've experienced is hr5 people with 130 armor joining a room with 3 hr50+. I don't want to post harder monster with those, forcing people to post ticket quest and alike.

That loadout is too bloated, many of those are too situational.
With me it's usually:

>10 Mega Potion
>4 Hot/Cool Drinks (stored when needed)
>2 Max Potions
>1 Ancient Potion
>Powercharm
>Armorcharm
>Steaks or Dash Juices (have a registered set for both)
>10 Whetstones
>Mega Pickaxes (you never know if you'll spawn at a secret area)
>10 Dung Bombs

You don't really need paintballs if you're paying attention to the monster shadow or if you've hunted enough that you know which areas it migrates to. Same for psychoserum (although it can be useful if it's a 2-monster hunt and the dragonseer isn't there to wave at).

Antidotes and Deodorants are situational as well and you can just pump 10 in quickly before the hunt if the mon requires it.

Traps and tranqs you can make a separate set registered with 'em for a Capture quest, and if the mon is cheeses by traps (like Magalas and Raj) you just put 'em before the hunt.

I've never bothered with Nulberries and never had real problem with blights (although I can see stamina heavy weapons having problem with waterblight) and I just bring bombs if anyone asks for a sleep bombing run.

I know it sounds nitpicky on your loadout, but I've had similar swiss army knife loadouts like yours in 4U and parsing through it mid hunt can be a big hassle, specially if there's a bunch of items there that'll never see use in most hunts.

More times than not I was caught thinking "why the fuck did I bring [item] to this hunt?"

Normal shot has 10% more damage on full bursts and with a full load of shots is about 30-40~% stronger than other shot types for full bursts, but the weakest individual shells.

Long shot has 20% stronger Wyvern Fire, and decently strong shells that are about 50% stronger than normal shells..

Wide shot has shells that are about 2x as strong as normal shells and charged shots do 145% damage instead of the normal 120%, however the full burst is weaker than the other shot types AND suffers a 15% damage penalty on full bursts.


Long shot is a good shot type if you don't use charged shots but shell a lot in the middle of your combos, and want to rek face with wyvern's fire.

Good torso parts for torso up would make it too easy to make sets. I remember a lot of sets in FU were 4 Torso Up parts and the torso for the set you wanted, more times than not you'd have the skills of the complete set, albeit with less defense (which wasn't a problem if you didn't get hit that much).

The most useful one for me is to stay close to the ledge. I thought ledges were hindrances before because people always complain about vertical terrain, so at first I fought on the middle of arena. But utilizing the ledge could make a difference, it's a free hit if you could get the monster down by mounting.

No problem. It can be useful to have one or the other item set has a little of everything, but don't make it your main set, it gets annoying really fast to manage it everytime. Try to come up with the items you see most use and make it your no.1 slot in the item sets. You'll see how much time you actually save in the long run.

Did you do it in the hub and did you do it in a group?
Go check your quest lists and see if that quest has a request bubble on it, if it's a request then you need to initiate the quest to complete it and get the unlocks
It's stupid because if something unlocks from a non-request mission then you don't need to initiate it to unlock the art
