Bethesda can't do jack shit because they don't own the code used in those tools. However if those tools contain code from now Havok tools which are no longer available for free, Microsoft could come in and force the modders to remove said code effectively disabling them until those modders find a workaround that doesn't use any licensed code.

Everything using analog synths leading up to the late 70's I'd say are all very likely, especially outside of the US (which had at this point diverged enough to have significant sociopolitical differences from the real world.) I'd not be surprised if New Wave and Hi-NRG both became things in the Fallout universe, and indeed probably would have lasted longer because of a slower development of music technology..

A. Gunners actually wont attack you on sight if you approach one of their smaller wasteland outposts, and will tell you to back off before going hostile.

B. Gunners who do attack you on sight do so because you have approached one of their major forts/bases/operation areas without permissions, and given the state of the wasteland, theres a 99% chance you are there to either kill them, or take the shit they want.

C. gunners take contracts from people in places like Goodneighbor, like we see when yu go to recruit Mccready. Only an idiot just lets people walk up to thier main base for shit like that

D. Gunners ARE basically raiders. While they accept merc work, many NPcs tell you the Gunners also randomly raid anyone they think is weaker then them, so they can take their shit.

Before Skyrim came out Bethesda said they hated the Fallout 3 style DLc relase shcdule of tyring to make like 5 DLC at once, which make everything a hectic mess.

they said with Skyrim and later games they wanted to focus more on larger expansion pack like content for thier story DLCs, and maybe throw in some smaller DLC at other price points.

Dawnguard and Dragonborn were far larger then any Fallout 3 DLC.

And Far Harbor for Fallout 4 was larger the neither Dawnguard or Dragonborn.

Hell, far Harbor was like Point Lookout + The Pitt + OA and maybe even a little bit of Broken Steel or MZ all thrown into one DLC.

They have also said they want to work on getting content out faster, so people don't have to wait like 7+ years for a new release.

Fallout is them doing just that

As far as we know, northern Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming are like that.

California, most of Nevada, and southern Oregon are part of the NCR.

The Legion controls Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and parts of southern Utah.

The MWBoS rules the Midwest from Chicago to Denver.

And while not under any speific nation, the east coast, or at least the upper east coast from Maine down to Virgina, doesn't seem to have tribals.

Ideally, you'd use J.Sawyers mod with it. Literally just google that as its named after the guy who did it all.
If you've also got Fo3, then Tale of Two Wastelands is a pretty fucking good one, as it makes Fo3 actually playable on W7/8/10.
Also, NVSE with the 64bit 4GB aware version.
This also makes the game more stable and is required for any of the good mods anyway.

There's two mods out there that allow you to build working showers. The first I can think of is "Build Your Own Pool", and the newer CWSS mod. BYOP showers allow anyone to interact with them with an associated animation, and passively generate happiness.

Haven't checked out CWSS yet, but they allegedly act in the same way but with different animations and such, and have greater variety. They also feature some other utilities.

There's also some other decorative mods that have static showers and stalls that don't do anything.

well, it just doesn't look very good and I'm not really a fan of stuff that doesn't happen on the main map. It's one of the reasons I prefer Dawnguard over Dragonborn in Skyrim and why I liked Broken Steel so much because it was a direct continuation of the main game, not a sort of spin off thing that happens on the side.

Building vaults is more time-intensive than I thought it would be.

If you can get mods, you may want to check out the "Clean shacks" and the various other mods by the same author. The textures can be a bit too clean for some people, but I like it because it makes settlements look respectable. Clean settlements contrast immensely with the surrounding wasteland.

Just walk around Corvega and Beantown Brewery and go to Diamond City, grab Piper and go straight out down South, ignore fairsomething estates and turn left towards Atom Cats Garage. You should not run into enemies if you avoid buildings. In the garage there is a free T60 Power Armor in the back without helmet that you can order Piper to take, and she will steal it. While you are there you can also swim to Spectacle Island and grab Luck bobblehead and Far Man on the boat. You don't have to fight a single enemy to do all this. Good starting strat.

Easy peasy from there.

Uhh no, threshold checks do that, chance checks do not.

In a threshold system you can never try because theres a 100% chance of failure if you don't meet the threshold, despite the fact that
A. People always have the ability to lie, and even those who rarely lie have been able to convince people of some pretty far out lies.

B. Knowledge of a subject is not 100% linear, you can know certain things about a subject before knowing others, so a threshold check, which works on a 1-100 skill system, is entirely arbitrary and artificial.

Its the equivalent of not being able to wear a hat until you are level 12 "because reasons"

On the other hand, once you reach 100 speech, theres a 100% chance of success forever, which not only takes away any sort of difficulty from the game, but also creates bizarre situations like the end of NV were Lanius has 3 100 speech check in a row, the latter two of which don't make sense given that if you can pass the first one you can pass the other two since its threshold based.

On top of that, it ignores the fact that even the best of liars have often failed to convince people of a lie. As well as the previously mentioned knowledge of a subject is not linear problem.


There is literally nothing logical or balanced about threshold systems.

All it does is create two extremes, one where you can NEVER win, and one were you can NEVER lose.

Both of which are terrible.

Its artifical as all fuck, its about as much of good gameplay as the Fallout style locking/hacking systems are, where some magic barrier just comes up and says NOPE YOU CAN'T ATTEMPT THIS BECAUSE SKILL NOT HIGH ENOUGH!

I did the same thing a few times, now I'm autistic about saving. I don't really play survival to fuck around. I have a normal game on very hard for experimenting with things/building ridiculous settlements or whatever. my survival game is for now purely based on..surviving I guess.


it's going to take a long ass time to build it up to something good. Eventually I want every settlement with top tier defences, fully walled off, producing items I need, stocked with with traders and a medical stand and with every crafting stand. Also have each settlement stocked with ammo and aid.

I was referring more to the train tunnels. They look like you should be able to do a straightforward through them, but there's a lot of clipping through tunnel parts & dirt involved. The slopes are also too gradual for the staircase in the utility section. Going the other way around can work, but it seems extremely difficult to try and build the vault pieces in such a way so that settlers/NPCs can actually walk on the dirt areas without getting confused.

NPCs also couldn't cross the Wide Hallway Corner component.

Say in sanctuary you have all your junk. setup a supply line to red rocket. at red rocket you cna now build craft and repair and use all the junk you have in sanctuary. You can't access the actual junk though. So you can put stimpacks in the workshop and withdraw them elsewhere for example, you cna just access the broken down crafting materials when you actually craft stuff.

Doesn't matter how you send supply lines either, you can chain setlements together, or have them all radiating out of one settlement. I prefer to make them like a chain, with each settlement having one supply line running to it from one setlement and another out to a different settlement. That way you only lose one settler from each place to the supply run and you don't end up with 15 settlers and thei pack brahmin standing around in one place.

go into workshop mode, find a settler, there should an option to assign them, move them and supply line. I use PA on my current survival game for one thing.

I go and clear a dungeon, hit carry capacity, return to settlement and drop off loot. Put on PA, return to dungeon, get everything I missed. Can easily survive random encounters on way back to settlement due to armor plating. Repeat until dungeon is stripped bare. Then take off PA and find next location to loot.

I'm also pissed that the male VA sounds like a cuck instead of a gravel-voiced, deranged murder-hobo

VAULT BUILDING TIPS!

1. Ceiling Lights can be fucking horrible to place as they are hard to re-select once connected to a vault piece. Make sure you are using Place Everywhere with F4SE and then build your light first in mid air. With light highlighted in build mode press F7 which locks selection on the light only. This allows you to move the light around and not accidentally select any other piece.

2. If you have problems snapping rooms to other rooms make sure you are connecting door segment to door segment. Utility and Common segments have "Conntect to Doorway" written on easy to connect sides.

It isn't hard to fix, at least in isolation. The game uses "out of sight" markers linked to the workench in all of the settlements. When the player can't see these, enemies spawn on them; this is why enemies tend to spawn at the same spots inside of settlements.

Fixing this would require moving _all_ of these markers in every settlement to be out of the buildable area, which would talke forever and introduce compatibility problems.

Anyone else notice 99% of what people make is retarded lingerie and bikinis or bondage gear? I feel like all of our really good Bethesda crafters just said "fuck it" after the first 2 years of Skyrim. We had some great stuff come out earlier in the year, then these guys seem to have vanished.

Now we have, on the front page of Nexus, Cait's corset with a neck cut so low it grazes the nipples, some black lingerie with pubic hair sticking out, a playboy bunny girl outfit, and ... a "sexy towel" which is transparent, of course, because towels are see-through.

And that's pretty much normal. I can make tuning changes and scripting mods all day, but I lack the creativity to work with art. I certaintly don't want my game to turn into a 12-year-old's beat off fantasy.

I still wish we could have a normal tri-beam laser though, or the beam splitter mods from New Vegas where it split multiple beams but still had a very tight spread instead of being shotgun like.

Plasma defender looking plasma weapons would be fun too.

I like how they made the plasma weapons look less junky and more like military equipment going from 3 to 4 but I still like the plasma defender aesthetics.

Power Armor is rare in NV, dummy. Literally the only people with Power Armor are the NCR and the Enclave.

That dlc "story" had to be actually the worst thing I have ever played in my life.

That's what I think too. Fallout 1 was never about "muh 50's aesthetic", that shit came with Bethesda and Fallout 3.

They took advantage of the 3D view to slap 50's aesthetic everywhere, but Fallout, as in my example, was more Blade Runner-like in its weapons, and more Mad Max in its armor designs.

And yet I only ever use power armor once in the entire game, and that's when going after the rogue institute scientist. I don't see the point. It's just clunky with an intrusive interface. I don't remember ever using it in previous games, either, because it is loud, and heavy.
