Yeah I've seen that series of maps and while they're interesting, they're not that precise. Merv for example clearly belonged to Khiva at that time: they probably meant to show the Qajar *claims* in the area (which they abandonned in 1881) just like Herat.

Are you sure about Ashgabat? The only place I saw which mentionend it before 1881 is the french wiki where they say it was a small village near where the Russian built their fort before moving on Merv (since historically they conquered from the Caspian sea on). I did see a mention of moving on the Tekkes and Persians chasing them from the Tejen oasis. Maybe rename Ashgabat to Akhal then to hel pthe player understand of the Akhal Treaty event you added?

Yes, that's what I was hinting at. At least separate the coast (Kyzyl-Su) which was uncolonized (one previous unsuccessful attempt by the Russians in the 1820's) from the huge Karakum desert (where you could discover oil later on) and Merv (which is way too big as it is - the province should just be the deltas of the two rivers coming from the Herat mountains). That way, it really cuts greener Persia from the central asians steppes with a desert province that you will have to avoid. Makes conquering and invading less easy (it was not a big front of any war at the time) and not really worth it if you're an unciv looking to westernize. Maybe leave a Persian core or CB on Akhal, Merv and Herat if you wanna stay true to your map?

At least change Bereket (russian founded city) to either Kyzyl-Su (the local name from which the Russians got Krasnovodsk or Balkan (modern region in Turkmenistan, named after the Balkan/Balchan mountain range) which has the exact form your want (more administrative than geographic tho). Also, Novo- to Ustyurt, the name of the plateau of the region. Maybe make the name change with a LR normalizing event that'd add railways or forts?

Nukus is seems really way out of where it's supposed to be, I guess Paradox was just too lazy to check. I think Sary Kamysh would be a nice addition for strategic purpose in the area. It would also help show that while there are deserts in the steppes, there are also oasis that pushed civilizations grow. Yeah I messed up, mixed Hari with Karakum/Garagum Canal. Tho, making Tejen their own province would make nice flavor for the Persians to push for the Hari river (get the uncolonized province) and then maybe push for their claim on Merv against Khiva - with still rational borders. They would still lose them later on if they back down or lose against the Russians with the Akhal Treaty but spice them up for early game.

Otherwise, a, event to get the uncolonized parts (Kysyl-su/Bereket) of Turkmenia if you own all the others provinces (as Russia early conquest, Persia or Khiva) would be good, on the model of your Conquer The South or Dji Bouti Protectorate decisions - a reward for an unciv that went forward and wouldn't let almost empty fertile areas if they had full control over the region.

I'm gonna take a closer look, including the Khwarezm/Khiva area and pops. All in all, i'd thnk it'd be a great addition to your unvic flavour pack.

By the way, what did you think of implementing centralization in a way or another? The reform system was just one idea (Totalitarian (radical) > Unitary > Federal > Confederal > Tribal/Feodal) but I seriously think it's important to add since it was a major source of debate and conflict around the world at the time.

The funeral procession of Bourgogne II would be the last time her immediate family met all together, and their reunion did not last long; the day after her funeral, with hardly a word to his brother, Geraud left Jerusalem for his wife's seat at Chypre.
