Yeah, it grows back really fast though so keep an eye on it while the fire's burning. You'll need the fire brake to be 2-4 tiles wide so it doesn't jump across to more grass.

1. It most certain is not, my rooms swing into the negatives quite often.

2. They like to relax in their rooms, and then complain about the light. Since going outside is suicidal, especially at the moment, they are mostly trapped inside. So having lights in rooms is not the worst plan.

Yes. Any time a relationship is discovered it can trigger events any time. One of my folks went batshit berserk, found out after a while that his brother, who was a pirate that ran away after a failed raid, died out of the blue and he could somehow sense it, despite not occuring on the same screen.

That's stupid. There should be two attributes: Wealth and Apparent Wealth.

Wealth should be the actual wealth of the colony.
Apparent Wealth should be what's outside of the buildings (those can be seen by, let's say, a scout), and what has been seen by people who have entered and left the map (raid survivors, released prisoners, visitors and traders).

Raids should be based on apparent wealth. You could even go further and add a third wealth: some kind of Rumored Wealth, where outsiders, based on what they have seen, try to guess your actual wealth.

I wonder how hard it would be to mod that. Probably not too much.

I like the idea of bullets that Combat Realism tried to make but for balancing reasons. In vanilla, once you defeat the first Pirate Raid, you are usually set for the mid-game. However, introducing limited magazine drops while arrows and melee being easy to make will tip the balance for tribal equipment's favor.

Bullets can be made from either gunpowder refined from stuff you mined or cultivated from the Volatile chemicals 'milked' from Boomalopes and Boomrats to make bullets sustainable in plains.

Of course once you tech up to energy weapons, it should provide a good incentive as it will be easy abit costly power-wise to recharge a rack of charge rifles.

Eh, its probably too complicated. It's better to make Apparent Wealth calculated by anything that's not under the roof of the colony(aka crops and any golden statues, you manaic) and the amount of structures. Tack on the latest trading value to simulate rumors of wealth.

A crazy, self-sustained colony will probably see little action but one which trading occurs frequently or even completely replaced the food supply will be target for attacks. And late game the tons of steel and plasteel you need will be enough to force trade

I know quite a bit of java and I know C# is almost exactly the same.

Since there is a beauty level, I would venture to guess a function that tells you what objects a character can see already exists. Every item definitely also has well defined wealth points and you can easily tell what's outdoors and what isn't.

Minor issues and bugs aside, it should'nt be too hard to code.

However, even though I know a bit about coding, I have never modded a single game in my life.

Is it 2 tool cabinets per table? When I click on a workbench I only see two linked ever and it seems like two is enough for an endless amount.

Reason I'm asking is because shit late game takes way too long to make. Clothing, art, weapons and power armor takes so long it's unfunny, even with a leel 20 crafter with 2 bionic arms and tool cabinets.

How the fuck do I make this go faster? I've even made more than 1 table and more than 1 crafter but all I see happening is a ton of unfinished products everywhere while my guys struggle to get one thing finished and before I know it a raid is on my door and I don't have enough gear since it takes years to make a full set and power armor deteriorates so fast it's not even funny!

Installed new floors and expanded bionics mods and everything worked fine on my save.

Till this happened. This guy is fucking standing still doing nothing. I tried drafting and undrafting, nothing. I tried loading the save again, nothing. His needs or mood is unaffected though so he's like in cryo sleep. I can't get him unstuck though no matter what. What gives? Any way to fix?

Tribals:

It's simple.
Designate a stockpile.
Cut some trees and build a number of 5x6 (with walls, 7x9) rooms. Put a bed, a torch, and a potted plant in each room.
Then build a room a cooler in the back set to keep it frozen, put a stockpile in there set to accept non-rotten food and corpses with critical priority, and put a kitchen attached to that with a butcher's table, an electric stove, and a small table with a few dining chairs.
Build a couple of wind turbines and attach them to a set of batteries, to power all that shit.
Designate a growing zone for healroot and another for strawberries and a third for rice.

You could simplify this down to:

Well, seeing how Tynan handled dwarfing in mountains by adding bugs, he wants different raid types to counter strategies used by players. Ideally, whatever you do the game can throw something to fuck your shit up.

But

Sieges and drop pods are supposed to counter building inpenetrable defenses, but sieges are easy to take out with snipers.

Sappers are supposed to counter killboxes, but they are rare and attackers kill themselves with grenades.

What are other strategies that make the game easy that could be countered with a raid?

You can hide behind the walls and they'll poke out and shoot if there's an empty space or sandbag next to the wall. It gives full cover instead of only the sandbag's partial cover. Also a roof will make it dark inside so that you will gain additional bonuses to defense.

After some additional research, if you try to just have it lead into a large area, it won't work. However if you leave a one unit space between the cooler and a vent, it'll superheat that area which will then go on to heat the large area because physics is hard apparently.

Here's a couple of ideas to overhaul mental breaks themselves.
How do suicide attempts sound?

Maybe you could make it so that only people with the depressive trait try to kill themselves if over their limit. Emphasis on try, tho, maybe make them down themselves with bleeding cuts on their arms to let you save them, give them a mood boost after the incident like catharsis or "regrets trying" or something like that.

And while we're at it make brawlers more likely to berzerk, make people without brawler or depressive less likely to do either thing (leaving them with sad wander and daze).

How can I get medicine?

I haven't gotten a single trader through the comms console in this 40 days so far challenging playthrough. Did they change the frequency they come?

A functional system to model water pressure.

Multiple Z-levels, complete with caveins, fall damage, and some other interesting bits.

Minecarts, which can roll down steep hills, go off a ramp, actually jump through the air, hit a track on the other side, hit a blocker, and it'll throw all the contents out of the cart in the direction it was going. They will impact creatures in the way and potentially kill them. You can also do this with magma and water.

Probably one of the most detailed and thorough systems of combat of any game out there.

WAY better done relationships and social shit than this game.

Proper, good siege weapons.

Enough complexity and options in building shit to make traps that aren't a trap building. For example, you can hook up pressure plates in a field, so that when stepped on, they'll both open a floodgate and open a floor hatch. If that floodgate happens to be, say, holding back a pressurized reservoir of magma that has the pressure-equalizing level set to at least +1 Z level above where the floor hatch is, the magma will flood down the area the floodgate opened to, and up and out the floor hatch, spewing molten death all over everything.

Started on challenge, as it seems pointless to go lower than the intended difficulty. It's also my first game of the type.

I do have another game going, a nudist with a green thumb, a badass grandma with a rifle, and chatty redhead, but it was before I realized how hard winter hits, and on a map with no game to hunt except a murder-herd. also in case you dont know- thre is a "prepare carefully" mod that let's you create colonists like in DF without RNG but it uses un official point values and thats why MY autism doesnt let me use it

Tynan the main dev wants the game to be a "story generator" so I guess it's more aimed at roleplayers

What he doesn't realize that majority of RW players just want to play a good "city builder" and expand, manage, build etc. and stories and drama are a side product

I'm guessing you're in a MountainHome?

Building in a mountain is appealing for lots of reasons, but it should only be done by the experienced. In the mountain, the walls of every room are inevitably the walls of adjacent rooms, leaving no wiggle room. This means that, unless you have the entire layout planned before digging, you're doomed to failure.

Start over. Find a flat or hilly place to be comfy out in nature, and wall yourself off a little corner to colonize. Create an outdoor complex with separate buildings, over time they will grow until they meet. As you build, keep measured walkways and paths, and mark off the grid you're using with stone pillars, which will not only help you plan in the future but will allow you to, in case of toxic fallout, roof your entire complex quickly.

I am sorry you are so frustrated, we have all been there, but nothing works on the first few tries. Here are some nice, fat tits to help cheer you up. Go get em, tiger.
