I miss the times back when i just wing'd it and went with whatever i had and upgraded it, and crafted what i thought was nice

But since 3U i always look at Ping's Dex etc. at the final form of each weapon to find out which ones are the best, because otherwise crafting them is a waste of time. It hurts. And i lack the willpower to go back to the fun style of experiencing the game where i'd just upgrade and not know where I'd end up eventually.

So i'm progressing up to high rank with some buddies who also got the game. I'm at 3* ones in the main game, and we've done a handful of baby shit online so far.

One of the problems we're having I think is looking for decent stuff that will be useful through Low rank until we can actually get to high rank. As such I'm wondering what are some recommended weapons for us?

Two of them use great swords (they currently have the ...uh Pincher thing from hermitaur) and i'm a lbg using the maccao gun until rath shows up.

Is there something else we should work towards or are those gonna be fine?

I lanced in FU, 3u, and a lot in 4u. I haven't really touched it in Gen. While I know how to dodge lance, I prefer guardlancing, is G+2 and G-up still necessary? the armor thus far don't give much room to work with damage skills as well.

Yeah, that'd be awesome for a lot. Pierce is fun to use and that opens up a lot of bows, lbgs and HBGs. Narga HBG isn't bad with the all around damage, fast reload, multiple shot types, and sieged Pierce lv1 is even good for small monsters. Not sure if the slicing shot can crit, though.

1-4, 5-8 and 9-10. Here it doesn't matter for wound head or capture.
But for wound back:
1% is 1-4
2% is 5-8

Well, if it's the same as the last game, you want to do speed last since the stats all take away from eachother, but can't go below the baseline. I'd look it up, though, there are a few kinsect feeding guides that just straight up tell you "feed it 20 stamina, then 8 power, then 25 speed" etc.

How do I stop fucking sucking with the GS? I've played for quite a while and I still can't get the hang of it. Especially the new monsters have absolutely nonsensical patterns and I'm never at a good position for charging. Maybe I should just get back to wrecking shit with hammer...

Stats don't take away from others anymore. Ah, and you're absolutely free to feed elemental ambrosias as you please, it does nothing to progression. Sticking with the original element of the line is just advisable, otherwise go by the color for fashion hunting.

Guild and Adept are the only playable ones. Striker is garbage (as are the arts) and you can't hit shit with the Aerial attacks.

The three-note attack of the adept evade is funky but at least you can evade-cancel between the notes.

It's pretty easy, just make palicos cast the net at the right time and you'll catch it.

By soloing a monster you get better at soloing it, period. You learn its attack patterns and general behaviour, but that doesn't mean you'll hunt better at all occasions, since the aggro is all over the place and you have to take teamplay into consideration.

Also, if you're the kind of person who lets others hunt for you, without taking part in the fight, you'd do it regardless. Soloing urgents is only ego masturbation at this point. If you want to get better at reading monsters you can simply solo them at any time, no need to hassle yourself doing the urgents specifically.

the arts and styles HH really goes to show how little the dev team cares about the weapon.

the new double note system is great, but it's like they just moved on after that. all of the hh specific arts suck. the only art I take is the generic evade art. adept style it's really shallow. other weapons got cool shit like reloads, charges, attack buffs. hh get nothing. an attack that removes the safety that adept style should be offering. it can't even play it's own recital out of the adept evade

Yes, that's infuriating. Two of the arts are straight crutches that are useless if you know how to maintain songs and the other is a weak-ass attack that launches people all over.

And yes, Adept is super pointless. You get the just evade, but the run-in and following attack leaves you exposed as fuck and is the only way the style has to input multiple notes quickly.

Even if it's the same-old, same-old, Guild is the better option by far, and that's for the lack of options. I wish HH got more love,

What hes saying is that the game is poorly scaled for 3-4 players to the point where everyone could be playing terribly and still stomp the monster without issue because its getting staggered, stunned, or broke every 5 seconds. You dont have to be good at the game to succeed with 3-4 people.

Basic lance combo is 20x20x20. Lance charge in Striker has a MV of 70 and a shitton of art charge. You still combo, but whenever you're more than 8 inches away from the monster you charge. It's so fucking strong.

I dunno where youre all getting this 2m meme. When I did my urgents against Gammoth and Mizu it still took quite awhile with a group of 3 and 4. I know you'll just say everyone was terrible but they were all using appropriate element weapons and always hitting them without taking too much damage.

Hunting styles for ALL weapons were half assed across the board

When i play with one of the hunting styles, especially aerial which is spammy as fuck, i feel like i'm playing some fan modded version of Monster Hunter. Hunters have more mobility than ever while monsters retain their slow and deliberate attacks.

I really, really hope they were just fucking around and this garbage won't return. Hunter Arts, Hunting Styles. Away with all of it. The only good addition in MHX is internal ammo for Bowguns

Absolute evasion is, well, what it says it is
It charges really fast, gives you a dodge and makes you sheathe insantly

Absolute readiness takes slightly more time to charge, but sharpens your weapon and keeps you unsheathed; So it can be used to evade, reposition, or chase a monster.
