Having to talent into the DoT effect on Flamestrike is pretty shit IMO. Would be better to have it baseline and give a glyph to convert it to instant damage.

There are situations where not everything will be getting hit by the first strike so having the burning ground after effect was nice. (Think Jan'alai's dragonhawks) Maybe Blizzard won't be adding those into Legion's content at all.

But it'd be neat if for 90% cases you had to bring the material to a blacksmith / tailor / leatherworker / foreskin fabricator of the requisite skill and maybe even specialty. Is anyone else having strange pop-in issues since the prepatch launched?
Like, details and NPCs appearing on screen only around a very short distance from your character. I have the distance bars set on 7 but 10 isn't much better in that regard. This doesn't seem to happen in instances, or at least I could see everything in Firelands from the entrance.

Well the feel is everything. At the core of the game, it's always going to be "push buttons to make your character do something". I don't think that's a bad thing. Pretty much every game involves pressing buttons to make your character do something. But if they can make it FEEL like something more, or give it a unique flavor via snappy animations and chunky sounds when you hit something, it's a deceptively important part of an enjoyable game.

In the world, everything is only loaded at like 80-200 yards - with some world bosses being zone-wide.

You're not supposed to be able to target something 500 yards away from you.

And, doodad/objects pop-in to reduce memory usage with far viewing distances. Not a bug, your gpu isn't broken, it's called optimization.

There may be a console command to type in to extend the distance at which this shit is visible but

I've done it for like 10 characters, it's really easy and there are some sick strats that you can employ to get easy level 90's by abusing the RaF grant level system

I just play a tank on the second account (make sure you bought the second license on the same bnet account so heirlooms share), then put whatever class I want to level up on /follow then spam queue dungeons until 80, then quest until 90. You can do dungeons until 90 but I find it's less stressful to just quest 80-90 as it's still pretty quick.

See, here's an example. Notice the small barrel next to the Horde barre. They appear and disappear with a fade effect in "spots" that fade quickly, rather than the entire object or mob going from invisible to visible.

You're also onto something.
I know EXACTLY what this is you're speaking about and you are absolutely correct. This did not happen prior to the pre-patch. Your GPU is fine, this is a change on Blizzard's end.

Previously, this weird "spotty phasing in/out" was only present when you used MSAA anti aliasing. It didn't happen when you used the renderscale or no anti aliasing.

Now it happens regardless of what settings you use.
Personally I find this shit super distracting and annoying. Apparantly it's due to the new engine or something not being able to properly "fade" things in and out so they chunk it up to simulate transparency. 100% opacity on 50% of the object is "seen" as 50% opacity, but it's visually spotty and annoying looking since human vision is very keen on detecting motion/patterns.
