The logical thing is to enter with friends. Past that the light party comp is the most boring experience ever. 1 tank 2 dps 1 healer is a giant snorefest. Enter with 4 dps and it's ridiculously fun trying not to constantly die. Enter with 3 dps and a healer/tank and it's pretty fast and smooth.
I won't disagree the matched party is retarded. I entered as a dps and got matched with THREE lalafell white mages. While adorable (as they chose me as their leader) it was still very slow but no one ever died I guess.

1-50 has literally been described as the turotial portion of PotD, they've been very clear that it won't actually get "challenging" until the 100-200 stages.

This is true, but the problem with that is that it means that the 51+ floors are either going to do one of two things: 1) They're going to be completable without a healer and/or tank, and are therefore going to continue to be a complete joke to any party that DOES have a healer, or 2) They're going to be hard enough to require a tank and/or healer, and are therefore going to be so inflexible and regimented that they're going to lose the one thing that makes PotD fun.

PotD is mindless content. I cleared it in a premade 1 heal 1 tank 2 dps party the night it came out and by floor 20 it was the most boring thing I have encountered in this game. If you go in with a group like this, you will be bored. There's little to no challenge offered. Set off traps? You have a tank to hold them and a healer to keep you alive.
Also, mines CANNOT kill you. Even if you are at 1 hp, they will not kill you UNLESS you have a mob hitting you, pox, or a poison. They will always deal 80% damage but will not and cannot kill you.
I won't assume what you consider to be fun, but i will say that a 4 dps comp was actually a bit fun (in my opinion) due to the sheer fact of trying to avoid dying. It's a fun panic mode and feels like roguelike games. I've wiped a good handful of times from just dumb dps pulling too many things and hitting lure traps, etc. I've learned in time to have my hand ready to use the witching pom in case of emergency and always watch where my group goes as I know if they don't set off a trap, it's a safe path to walk.
All in all it's not a fun place, PotD is like Diadem and basically dead on arrival. However, blaming all of your shittery on RNG is a little sad because almost all of the situations in there can be prepared for and dealt with if you're not a complete retard.

You have several types of pomanders that defang traps, and several more that can be used to undo a bad situation. There are several ways to approach every potentially dangerous scenario to ensure that even if you stepped on a trap at the worst possibly moment it wouldn't result in a wipe.

Well, first I would address PLD's TP issues since their single-target DPS is just behind DRK. In Shield Oath, PLD can regain TP every time they block. In Sword Oath, either all weaponskills get their TP cost reduced by 5% or Fight or Flight reduces TP cost by 10% alongside increasing damage dealt by 30% when in Sword Oath.
As for PLD's AoE issues, Enhanced Flash could increase Flash's enmity modifier while retaining the blind effect, and further boost it when in Shield Oath (beyond Shield Oath's passive enmity modifier). It could also deliver a 100 potency attack to every target under the effect of Circle of Scorn, giving it some AoE DPS (albeit at Lv. 50+).
PLD basically needs help in the TP management and AoE departments. Once that's sorted out, it'd be a better tank

PLD's problem has never been OT damage, or Sword Oath in general.
PLD's problem is not having a maim or darkside equivalent. The easiest solution to this problem is letting Sword and Shield Oath stack together while also further lowering the damage penalty on Shield Oath.
The 50 potency is nothing to scoff at. That's an extra 50 potency every 2.25s or so. After 5mins, that's an extra 6.66k potency. It adds up.

Nidhogg sure. I still haven't even beaten a1s. Doesn't mean the nignog weapons won't be beaten by the next welfare tome weapon/primal. I still have my Thordan weapon on Drk from when i got carried there too, and you know what? It's shit garbage. I can literally sleep through void ark and get deathbringer, or go get carried through nidhogg or even Sephex (which also drops inferior weapons compared to the catch up mechanic Palace of the dead). There is 0 gear longetivity whether someone gets carried or is top percentile. All raid weapons do is help clear the next tier faster.

It's not like Ada is claiming anything outlandish, this is the format of FFXIV as laid out by Yoshi-P since the release of FFXIV: ARR. His intention is for people to quit and come back. He considers it the natural flow, and expects no one to stay subscribed, it isn't even on his radar. If all that spook doom and gloom had any impact on his design philosophy for the direction FFXIV he would have changed it up long ago. Think about that in 4.0 when the format is still pretty much the same.

True. I'm so tired of this game's gear treadmill, instant gratification "everybody should be equal!" shit. Raiders were shat on because casuals can get the raid gear and get it upgraded the next odd patch so what's the point of raiding now? Just trying to clear it pretty much.
This game's content has no longevity to the point everything from the previous patch becomes obsolete. It's such a waste of resources, all thanks to Yoshida going with the WoW themepark route for 2.0 instead of the direction they've been for 1.23 (patch before shutdown)

I think Yoshi made a really big mistake on straying from 1.23 kind of progression and direction. 2.0 may be beneficial for them at first but it bit them afterwards in the long term.
They had such a good foundation and then they just fucked themselves over for trying to copying another MMO's success that never even worked for other MMOs at all.

Not for very long. 3.0's disappointment was just a wake-up-call for people. Of course apologists would still support and think the game is fine because they're die-hard FF fans, dirty casuals that don't even do any content or are blinded by Yoshi being the savior of the game and shit. Yoshi made the game worse in the long run and alienated their original players but of course people would still eat that shit because it's meant for casuals who haven't even touched an MMO before.
Still, money speaks for itself but whatever. If 4.0 is the exact same as 3.0 then that's the time this game will be doomed.
