Not a Valvedrone, but I think the issue with porting TF2 to Source 2 would be the physics (Rocket/Sticky jumps, Double jumps, etc.).
I mean, they could recreate from Goldsource because the Source Engine used some of the same assets.
Source 2 is an engine that's built out of the ground with new APIs and tools, so that would be the problem.

I'm sure there are other reasons, but outside of that, yea.
That said, I don't think we'll be seeing TF2 ported into Source 2 for another 9 years. They'll give it to CS:GO first.

Were you guys not here when Dota 2 was ported to Source 2? Half of the game broke down and it took several months to fix everything.
