Face it, there will be a massive split that'll leave behind a few clingy husks that can't let go of their invested time, but a few weeks down the line when people catch wind of the top notch scripting quality (you can already test it and see for yourself on their PTR), even they will see themselves forced to surrender to the overewhelming population cut that will hit Kronos. There is only one truth, it's worth leaving your character behind for superior scripting and not-insane GMs.

Besides the crashes, the server is fine. They're supposedly getting """"""hardware"""""" to fix it, but that hasn't happened yet. The scripting seems to be fine, and there is a shop. The only things that can be bought from the shop are mounts and a few pets. Players can sell or trade their characters to other players for kronos' fun bucks.

Spells and abilities have been added to 886 NPCs.
Fixed the faction, level, type, respawn time for rare and rare-elite NPCs in the territories of Arathi Highlands, Ashenvale, Azshara and Westfall.
Spell-generated threat will now appear in the players' combat logs.
The Stockade's prisoners will now make an escape attempt every 30 minutes.
Hunter: Increased the speed of hunter pets.
3451 NPCs have had their armor modified to fit with their type and level.
Fixed scaling from AP/SPD on some procs of items.
Fixed the areas in which the "Bloated" fish species spawn.
The following spells` DR effects have been grouped together: Cheap shot, Gouge, Sap, Bash, Polymorph, Hammer of Justice, Psychic Scream and Mind Control.

K2 is the designated Nost refugee containment server so we all play there.
It's x1 experience and has p2w mounts but no real cash shop.
Server goes down like 5 times every day but that's totally normal for private servers.

You can sell and buy characters on their website. Nihilum had a problem with it (people auctioning their characters after they got loot).

Has bugs, nothing huge but they're there and you will notice them. Also, undertuned raid bosses.
About server problems, nobody here will deny the servers are terrible. Constant server crashes and rollbacks despite Kronos' staff saying they're working to fix these issues.
If you really need your Vanilla fix now, just play in Kronos 2. Otherwise, wait until August and play in the new Valkyrie server, that will certainly be more stable than K2.

Okay, I'll try spelling it out for you, since you haven't played on either Nostalrius, K1 after Nost died, or current K2 for very long.
When a private server is doing okay but not exceptionally well for pop (say, 1k to 1.5k total) it stays under the radar for gold sellers. Servers like this would be original Feenix Emerald Dream, Valkyrie from 3-4 years ago, and current Rebirth.
Nostalrius changed all that when it became a 8k+ monster server. If you had played on the server or bothered to read the forums I linked to you, you'd be well aware of the shitstorm the Chinese gold farmers caused as well as the battleground PvP issues. It wasn't that the Chinese were good at PvP, it's that they leeched honor by AFK'ing and NO ONE wanted to play with them.
Fast forward to Nostalrius dying and all the refugees from Nost compacting themselves on to K1. Guess who followed from Nost? In less than 2 days, the farmers were leveling up and spamming the shit out of people in whispers and trade / general / global chat for their fucking websites, which had almost NEVER happened on Kronos with its 1.2k population previously.
Shit was so bad that yes, Chero assigned the new "no proxy, no VPN rule" which mainland China players had to use to play which forced them to flip the tables and DDoS the SHIT out of Kronos for over three weeks. But you weren't around there to experience that either, I suppose.
Explanation over. Chinks are fine as normal players on normal pop servers, but once they get a whiff of a high pop and success, it goes to shit unless they're contained.

Reminder that the only reason Kronos got popular was because of Nostalrius dying. It launched 1 month after and was dead as fuck the entire time. Imagine how dead the already dead as fuck Valk server will be with their 0 hype/advertising. The only way the server won't be a ghost town is if Twinstar gets shitdown, which is unlikely.
Also they lost their two main devs and are struggling to fix new bugs that they weren't even aware of because the server was so dead nobody had discovered or reported them.

If you really would be someone who has been in private server scene, you would know that Valkyrie is the best scripted vanilla server there is currently. It's filled with Russians sure, but greatly scripted and with minimal server downtime.
The only real reason why anyone would not roll on Elysium, is that they already have established guilds and characters on other servers (/krog/ for example). And that is quite big thing indeed. Let's be honest here, Kronos is not that greatly scripted and and has bad server issues.
I have feeling that even if /krog/ won't turn in to /elyg/ next month, the hop will happen eventually anyway when Nihilum falls. Crestfall isn't coming out for at least half a year, and I really doubt Nihilum will last that long either. How successful the /vg/ Elygisum guild(s) will be, I really don't know.

Valk has been a good server, but when you fix things you end up breaking other things, snd you only know about these new issues when you have players to test the content. Look at their most recent patch from july 15 there are "old" issues there.
Plus they have been around way before nostalrius and kronos re released.
Look at wotlk servers, tod re released their realm which was dead a few months ago, and while it was better than many other wotlk realms it eventually went back to the same low population state as before. It had 2k+ on launch and struggles breaking 500 now.
Valk will more than likely suffer the same fate, maybe worse since vanilla is more dependant on population than any other expansion.
As for there even being an /elyg/ i doubt it, /krog/ never existed before nost went down and there were much more people who played on kronos pre shitdown than it seems want to try elys.

I don't think it matters that much if they don't fix their new bugs as fast as other servers, when their scripting is already ahead of them. I haven't played Wotlk server in a long time, but I think ToD had quite good competitor GD, while Elysium only has Kronos.
While I agree that it's true for new vanilla server to take over old one, even if it might be better scripted, I believe Elysium has a quite a big chance thanks to the server issues Kronos has. People are already very tired of the constant DC's. When they try out Elysium and notice that the server doesn't crash as many times as Kronos, and they also have no serious raiding guild back in Kronos, they really have no actual reason going back to there. This probably also applies to new players looking for Vanilla server.
If Kronos would get that new hardware they talk about so much, they would have much easier time battling Elysium. The biggest chance Elysium has at becoming the next big vanilla server, is the fact that while extremely popular, Kronos can't cater to the needs of a player who wants to play vanilla wow.

Yes Nostalrius had its own share of server crashes, but there were still less of them than on Kronos, while still having way more players.
If Elysium takes off there is very high chance of it happening for them too, but they will also be given the same chance that Kronos had been given, a chance to upgrade their hardware and put stop to most of them. If that happens there is really nothing but Blizzard that can stop Elysium from claiming the vanilla private server throne.
