Rogue damage (assuming combat sword for leveling) is head and shoulders above Druid in 1.12.1 for solo quest grinding. Hands down. But Druids do level pretty fast from level 20 on due to having efficient feral talents and heals to fall back on.
The thing is, once you reach 60, you're good to go to either tank 5 mans or heal, and that's it. If you're super geared you can meme tank MC but you're not fooling anyone. If the server is legit then a bear is good for Jin'do and the cockblock dragon in BWL (cat to DPS, bear to switch on rotation). But vanilla is just mean to bears for endgame.

Dead honest opinion here. Kronos has superior class ability / talent scripting out of any 1.12.1 server, with the exclusion of warrior charge & hunter pet pathing. The warrior charge issue is due to the overtaxed server hardware with the 6k pop, and not a core problem. It's a server performance problem. Hunter / Warlock pet pathing issues ARE a core problem, and are worse than even a stock mangos core server fully patched.

Open world questing on Kronos is superb, excluding the random mobs that are stuck in the geometry. I have few complaints here.

Having played on Valkerie only up until the lead contributing Swedish dev died on this motorcycle accident, I can only attest that class abilities / open world questing / instances were all better than Rebirth by a mile, and better than Nostalrius by a margin. And before you quote "Nost was so perfect" - fuck you. Roll a priest, shaman, paladin, or rogue and test their abilities and come back and say that.

I'll be playing on Elysium to test it out rather than full on jumping ship from Kronos. The fact that there's no multiboxing allowed is a big draw for me.

Nostalrius got away with it I guess because they turned down every option like corpse skeleton despawn times to draw distance being almost melee range. Chero's tried a mix of optimization downscaling and it's just not very stable.

One question about kronos - are the mobs actually undertuned or am i just mis-remembering retail vanilla? It just feels far easier to not agro shit and things seem to not be as tough, and it's not like i've gotten any smarter so it can't be that.

part of it is the mangos core default values for player character detection by level vs mob range. It's always been slightly off to retail, but pretty close.

Chero screwed around with those values when he overhauled the Stealth mechanic for players to be more like retail. If you're stealthed and move close to a mob, like a goblin, and it turns and gives the classic "huh?" with a heartbeat range check following to see if you're still close enough to be detected... That's Chero's custom work. To the best of my knowledge, it's only found on Kronos, and no where else.

I'm going to miss it on Elysium. I doubt he's contributed that piece of work back to the Mangos community.

Nostalrius arrived when I was bored of Emerald Dream and Vanilla and Nostalrius Died when I was starting to get the Vanilla itch again.
