Sometimes I add them for simple things like what you can do with the barrels, or getting silkworms for a solid earlygame string source. I normally disable crucible and sieve. Ex astris I'll usually only add if I'm doing bees, since it adds recipes for some hives that are fucking hard to find sometimes.

It's a okay start to full automation, not terribly happy with it though. I think I'll move the crusher to another building and set up some kind of sorting operation before transferring materials between buildings on some kind of elevated conveyor belt.

Resources are crazy tight right now though.

I quit vanilla for good in 1.8 last spring, and currently have a small singleplayer town on beta 1.7.3 (before hunger meter).

I'd like to get some of the more modern QOL improvements without any of the stupid shit that they've added since 2014


No interest in megastructures, steampunk shit, or serious automation.
I focus on interior design, terraforming, and plot development.

Are there any non-bloated packs or at least a handful of mods that really improve on the above without taking it in further in the RPG direction?

For interiour design, design in general, and shit, I guess chisel + decocraft would do it. AMT and bamboomod if you want to make nip/chink stuff.
Terraforming, you'd have to use some kind of editing mod, though I think, might be wrong, that recurrent complex has some kind of a world editor. It's at least good for structure building and world gen, lets you customize what spawns in worlds and shit.
Plot development you might be able to combine a mob mod with customNPCs.
Or customNPCs on it's own.

Hunger meter is not a huge issue for me, I just didn't like that it added urgency to exploration and fucked with the first night of a new map because you NEEDED to get a farm going or you perished.

1.7.3 just feels pure in a sense, especially because I started in 1.2 alpha and did most of my playtime prior to Adventure Update.

I'm usually lazy as hell, and on multiplayer servers I try to not have that big of a surface footprint. Easier to expand a farm underground than to try to wrangle a few cows for a farm in an area where they can possibly get stuck in a wall and suffocate. (Minecraft is dumb like that.)

Plus, 90% of the time it's modded, so there's going to be SOME automation or benefit for growing crops like that. Also Golden Carrots are the best saturation in the game per food item, if you manage to make a gold farm.

So I've started working on re-adding mod integration to the 1.9.4 version of BWM. Do you guys think Mending is a good trait for Soulforged Steel? Seems like a better reward for using it than some minor lifesteal, in my opinion. Concentrated Hellfire is still auto-smelt.

If you want to get to high tier shit, sure Ichor is a high tier armor but it's probably the hardest to get and arguably the worst of them all. Wyvern/Draconic gives better buffs and resists more damage, Quantum is piss easy to get for what it does, and even put up against its own kind, Ars Magica's armor leveling system can improve on armor setups with relative ease, and Bound Armor is arguably the best armor in the game (even beating out Draconic) making you effectively invulnerable to everything in the world.

Joke's on you, that entire setup I said in that post is 100% Vanilla. Mods can facilitate things a little easier (Golden Lassos, MFR Safari Nets and Auto-Spawners, and I'm sure that there's a spawning system in Thaumcraft itself) but you can do exactly that setup in any world, outside of TFC which is aids in itself.

What I'm trying to say is that I'm able to put a mod on the same level as vanilla minecraft and still have ground to stand on. The mod should either add challenge to vanilla, or make it trivial in itself. A simple mob farm for experience that produces rotten flesh, or a sugarcane farm to generate a ton of paper is all you need for the vanilla system, and mods should be able to improve on these systems efficiently and productively.

There is a known performance issue with putting item nodes onto drawer controllers. The item node repeatedly scans every drawer in the bank even after it has found a place to store an item.

Have you considered using three more Ex Compressum autocompressors instead? You can chain them together with a few auto hammerers to have dust blocks on the output end instead of the piles and piles of broken/crushed ores you currently have.

Itemducts are pretty much the best item transport until you can make Item Conduits, and even then the Warp Itemducts still beat them for a few purposes.

Exploration and Horizons are addons to an existing mod, not standalone mods. They use the existing Thaumcraft infrastructure for everything.

Outside of using RF, Mek and EnderIO do not use the same infrastructure. They're seperate mods with separate progression paths.

Thaumcraft addons are designed to work with Thaumcraft. Mek was not designed to work with EnderIO and vice versa. Cut it out with the false equivalency.

What do people use for their sorting systems?

I've been playing with the Practical Logistics item router, but it isn't behaving as I expected it to.

The east face (the one with the brown conduit) is blank while all the other sides are configured to sort various items. The expected behavior was that configured items would go to their proper side while anything unknown would go off to the brown conduit.

But it seems to randomly select whether or not to sort items when one side isn't configured. So I put in a stack of gunpowder and a random percentage will go where it is supposed to while the rest goes to the brown conduit.

I don't think there is an actual solution to that with practical logictics, so I've been looking for something else.

there's a few exceptions. like disabling compressed cobble will still leave in the bedrock drum. and you can't make the hyper energy node without enabling the QED, I believe

For anyone using Laser Tech, coal blocks can't be mined by the mining laser, so that's a way to stop the beam before its range limit in case you didn't know about it. I think the block-placing laser works like that too.

Trying to play SkyFactory but the barrels dont accept any plant matter to turn into compost.

Can I still make progress in SkyFactory with just 1 piece of dirt? Only thing I can think is that wood being the only material you have I'll have to afk a lot of hours to wait for the tree to regrow.

That's not a barrel, it's an oak crucible. Try crafting an actual barrel so you can put plant matter into it.

If you want even more plant matter, hammer logs into wood pulp.

IIRC, SkyFactory has Tree Growing Simulator 2014 (aka tree twerking), so you just have to crouch repeatedly near a tree to grow it.

bigreactors can get quite big, searching them on /r/feedthebeast will get you some nice designs. As far as the mission status I'm not sure, I haven't played much with blightfall. Lava Fab is hooked up to a blue port on the side with a fluiduct. The Servo goes from a back orange slot to output a full lava bucket into the steam boiler. It's set up with lava buckets on a whitelist.

The retriever is set on a blue slot, and is supposed to draw an empty bucket back. This one is set up with a whitelist for empty buckets.

You could also put the oysters directly on top of hoppers for automagical extraction, or any piping mod can do. No filters needed.

They also can produce Eneder Pearls when uninfluenced, though not as commonly.

Now I just need to figure out how to influence the enchanting system so I can become truly overpowered.
