On the opening week for sons people weren't entirely enthusiastic because his moveset was strange.

The pattern seems to have continued again with the new male mage subclasses where only the wind sub plays subpar fluidly.For now all 3 classes were dropped until it can get a further development.

Off the top of my head
Pick up everything. EVERYTHING. After you're done with an area you can get rid of some of the materials, but make sure to always keep iron/cloth/hardener/bones/leather. Most of the rest of the materials you can just dump off on the npcs/AH.
Scenario quests are your main form of exp, do those always.
Find a decent guild to join. Avoid /vg/ guilds. Guilds give bonus stats/experience/shitheads to ask for help or info
Grinder profession is the most useful generally
Your buff skill is the most important one generally. Don't know how it is for rogue.
Have fun with the game.
Rogue might be a hard class to start out on, but if it's what you want more power to you.
Don't get spooked by otherverse, it's not that bad, especially if you get people to explain it to you. You should be able to do ov2 as soon as you hit 70, if I remember right.
Don't let lingo throw you off, if you don't know what something is, ask. You should get someone that can help to answer you.
Probably the biggest thing though, is that the first 86 levels are all tutorial.
