Not at all, and the instanced PvP will feel like it's 20 steps back. The most popular mode is a zerg CoD style map that's three faction based but everyone piles onto one faction for easy wins in exchange for massive queue times. There's also premades, but they're largely unorganized compared to premades that used to play (and have since quit the game.)

Multiple housing wards have been added to each server, but if you play on one of the higher populated servers, all of the plots have already been taken. Mid-population servers still have some plots available.

Paladin had several new skills added with Heavensward, and some of the effects on its old skills have been changed. It's a lot, so I'd just read over the tool tips on all your skills when you get back in.

Yeah, skip cutscenes. If you care about the story, its more like 20 or 30 hours. But you get exp from it so its not super terrible.

You do not stop leveling as long as you have the expansion, so you should decide whether you want to purchase the expansion and continue the game around the time you hit 50.

When the expansion came out all quests between the 2.0 conclusion and HW had experience rewards added and many of them had gear rewards added as well (in addition to all job quests awarding your i90 AF gear by level 50).

It shouldn't be too hard to get through all those dungeons especially if you are a tank or healer, and even if you're dps you should be able to lure people in with your poetics bonus.

fwiw I didn't find the 2.1-2.55 stuff too awful, but I'm good at turning my brain off. Fuck the company of heroes or whatever the fuck they were called though. Assholes.

I wish I could do that. It should take anywhere between 2-4 days at that rate, depending on if you just skip through it all and ignore everything but the quests. FF14 is very much a story driven MMO, even if the story is dogshit, so they don't want anyone skipping over it. Take the marl-ementary procedure leve for the sea of clouds, search the wide area around the place for a treasure chest and open it if there's on there.

Once you've looked around and found nothing or opened the chest, abandon the level then rechallenge it and repeat this 100 times. Each chest will give you a sand and from personal experience about 1/8 has a chest.

There's also just spending gil for sands if you want to get demimateria or resistance materias.
