I do have a job but it's seriously hands-off, so I have almost more free time at work than I do at home. Like I said, I wanted to get back into an MMO and it was either this or WoW. This seemed to be the better option for a lot of different reasons - most being that I've played WoW private servers out the ass and they're total shit. Not content wise but playerbase and dev involvement wise.

Also, once again, I really really really like being able to do EVERYTHING on one character. Also ever since XI I've really been into Galka. Being able to be a Galka BLM (without astral ring) would really seal the deal on class xenophobia from XI.

Oh definitely, worldbuilding (and to a similar extent, character-building) is my fuckin' jam. Making things feel alive, making sure there's a living, breathing world to play in. Something that could exist just fine without the main characters being around, something that keeps moving and events happen in far-away lands, or even just over the next hillrise, instead of existing in a state of superposition like typical RPGs where nothing advances until you /do/ it.

I've never done the scrip grind, but am familiar with how to do collectibles.

No. Parsers have been standard in MMOs since forever. SE has the most recent MMO that's also significantly popular. The game should have a built in parser. The game should have a tip menu describing how the parser works. Players should be encouraged to learn and use the parser as they level. Honestly speaking, a parser isn't really necessary to perform well in this game. As long as you can do your rotation as best as you can, and continue to do that rotation while dealing with a boss' mechanics, any dps can clear any content. Parsers are mostly a crutch.

And on another note, parsers may have been around in MMOs forever, but was there a built-in parser in FFXI or FFXIV 1.0? This series of games is mostly constructed in an isolated manner, so tenants of a genre may not apply to Final Fantasy, if Final Fantasy itself hasn't done it before.

I don't have a crafter above level 15, because it only takes 15 levels realize that leveling crafters is a surefire way to get cancer.
