It's quite simple actually

Everybody is crying that the game lacks factions, and also that their favorite army is still absent from the game.

CA is giving us Beastmen, then Wood elves, then Bretonnia, then Tomb kings

Those 4 are the least played/liked armies of Warhammer. CA is giving us those 4 first so we pay for them, not because we like them, but to make the game more varied.

If they already gave us Skaven, Lizardmen or Daemons, poeple would be "yeah, no, fuck that shitty army, I've the ones that I like"

But now, Beastmen are getting more attention than they never had before, just because it's a new race in a game that lack contents

+ By giving the favorites armies the last, we keep our eyes on the game. Nobody would give a shit about beastmen if they were the last DLC, just like what happened with the greek colony DLC for Rome II

Beastmen are actually pretty smart, in a feral way. Each and every one of them is born with a devotion to Chaos, so they basically never don't serve it.

Trolls often fall in line with Chaos, but they don't have the same bond so do other things as well.

Orcs are, oddly enough, one of the more multi-cultural societies. As long as you act like one of the boyz, you can more or less fit in. There are even savage human tribes in the Darklands who join WAAAGHS.

The promotional aspect could be a discount based on number of DLC owned, or, they could be bundled with the main game for people who haven't bought it yet.

This battle took me 5 tries and I feel no shame about savescumming
My army had already been severely decimated by two Osterland armies in the same turn (they had 8 mortar units it was horrifying) when the greenskins who had been encamped right next to the mortals for 2 turns attacked as well

Had to lure out their riders with horsemen and then attack with hidden chaoshounds, after that pick of all their archers while the pathetic rest of my army tried to hold out as long as possible
Managed to pick off their ranged units and used two packs of a few horsemen to distract their big ones and another band of savages, then charged all the rest between the two huge clusters that had formed around my already wavering infantry, that got their lord to rout

I'm on i5 3570k not oc'd and gigabyte gtx1070 (gayming ed.)
2x4gb shitty ram (not dual) probably like 1600 or whatever mhz because its 4 years old.

60 fps in warhammer on ultra during battles at full hd, and 40-45fps on ultra on campaign map (with half of it uncovered) but campaign map is always shitshow from what I gather.

All other games 60fps ultra (dragon age inquisition, bitcher 3, fallout 4: the sims, etc.)

gpu and cpu run pretty cool too with fans not audible basically.

Upgraded from gtx760 - best decision in my life. Games don't challenge this gpu at all.

Just found out kind of a game changer for them. Instead of keeping bulwark generals (a general and an army of weak shit to just hold the line) inside your settlement...keep them right outside within enforcement distance and put them in raiding stance. Eventually their fightiness will go up to triggering a WAAGH even if they never fight anything. Then you can send the WAAAGH out to go punch things for you.

So what magic items do you know are going to make the campaign massively easier when you get them?

For me, it's a Potion of Healing/Toughness, Seed of Rebirth and Ruby Ring of Ruin.

The first three almost double a general's effective health, while the last does so much damage over time.

A general on a griffin can deal upwards of 30 morale damage with a single charge/bloodscreech/ruby ring.

Metal has some decent buffs and debuffs and a decent assassination spell. The armour piercing passive bonus is also pretty good if you've got Demigryphs or another general on the field, as opposed to roiling skies which is absolutely fucking useless.

you should generally march with two stacks. One with actual good units, and one with zombies.

Send the zombies in first, then your good units ahead. Use Cairn Wraiths and cavalry to flank.

It's not retarded but it's kind of pointless and not really worth it. Vampire rebellions will probably shit up their provinces if you set up a lot of Balefires in your territories (which you should.) They provide a good buffer against Orcs that will hate you like Grimgor. I usually just leave the Dwarves alone unless they fuck with me.

It's a toss up. Zombies are kind of useless but they'll tire your enemies out and are also dirt cheap. Excellent as arrow fodder and a brick wall the enemy has to hack through. They have really loose formations for a reason, you can use them to screen your approach and then charge your more skillful units through them.

Basically it's not as hard as it seems. Honestly I have a harder time playing Empire than Vampires. Vampires are mostly about patience and thinking ahead. They are very versatile but lack high damage shock effect, but the fear some of the units cause makes up for it.

Just remember: You're undead and immortal. If at first you don't succeed, fuck off and come back later.

Getting the dwarfs off your back is generally a good idea since they can be a pain otherwise. You will have to get rid of them eventually, however, if you want a long campaign victory, so you probably want to avoid fighting the greenskins too much so that they can do half the work for you. Cleaning out the badlands is not fun as a nation that can't take provinces there.
You can play counts a few different ways. You can take multiple chaffy armies with lots of skeletons and zombies, with some beefy backup like crypt horrors, and that will deal with armies whilst also generating a lot of casualties for raising the dead, which can be very useful since it can give very high tier units if enough bodies are in a province. You can also take monster and grave guard heavy armies and that also works fine. You can overcast invocation of nehek to make it an AoE, it's very useful in making units last forever and attrition enemy armies down. Also, spam a lot of heroes, they're necessary in the campaign to spread corruption and they're also very handy in battles. Banshees and vampires are a lot tougher than their stats make them look.

Addendum:

Don't be afraid to get your Lords and Heroes stuck in. I've had generic Vampire Lords kick Orc Lords' asses, and they will fuck up humans.

Remember that you can Overcast Invocation of Nehek in order to give it an Area of Effect. I can not possibly express to you how useful this is especially if you're using zombies to lock down the enemy's front-and-center battle line. Even if it mis-casts it will regenerate your caster if they're in the AoE.

Do not underestimate the usefulness Master Necromancers or Necromancer Lords. They are squishy but their class-specific passive regen ability is much more useful than it sounds and it is always active. Combined with Invocation of Nehek and the spell that triggers increased regen whenever you cast a spell it makes your army extremely resilient.

Remember that Vampire Rebellions are useful but usually fail, but the corruption lets you walk around enemy territory as much as you like. Raiding removes the attrition damage your units receive so make sure to use it.

Don't bother with the dwarves. They are not interested in you, unless you do something to them, then they will mess with you.

You want to flank the shit out of the other army. Generally Vampire units are scary, so you want to cause a mass rout as fast as you can. If your general dies, your entire army will die in the next 10 seconds. Manfred can handle himself quite well in combat unless he is surrounded and is fighting another lord at the same time, so dont worry about him dying. Your units will never rout. They get something else called "crumbling" They stand and fight, but are almost useless, and die much faster. Which is fine for skeletons/zombies, they are super cheap.
Get FULL control of slyvania by turn 20. Just keep building/raising skeletons. You don't need to worry about any other faction other then the vampires to your north for the really early game. Then expand west. The north is a buffer so chaos doesn't fuck you up later.

After you get control of Slyvaina, focus on building an economy. With means build that one building that gets you gold per turn In every city. Then just keep building up tech in your main castle and marching west.

There is a thing called the "vampire deathsttar" Its super cheese. look it up on youtube.

I just surround my enemy with skeletons, hit them from the rear with monsters. Just watch out for spears and halberds, they will fuck monsters up.

Almost every description of them has huge armies warring against each other? Where are these armies coming from? They need to eat. There can't be that many nutjobs from the Empire marching into the Chaos Wastes to get armor bolted onto their skin. Even if there were, they keep killing each other. Or skirmishing with Kislev. Or Orcs. Or trolls. Or Nordland.

Norscans are the hardiest people in the world, save perhaps the Hung (who are also Chaos warriors). They live in a land that basically exists to kill the weak. They're twice the size of any normal human being and they survive in freezing temperatures in furs.

If they're not killing, they're fucking. Norscan raiders rape and pillage all along the northern coast of the Empire. The women are either carted off to be fuckslaves or just left to give birth to bastard children they inevitably abandon with a few exceptions.

Archaon himself was born from the rape of an Empire woman by a Varg marauder. These men are larger, angrier, and probably live lives that put them squarely in the role of "outcast" within their own society, driving them north toward the Norscans that bore them.

Fact of the matter is, Norscans are constantly warring and killing eachother but they're also extremely good at not dying. They breed more than they kill eachother and they're backed up by all manner of Daemons, Mutants, and other cast-offs of Empire society.

Plus, time is fucked in the chaos wastes and things can roam around it and an arbitrary amount of time can pass in the world outside the wastes. So, when an invasion happens they can draw on warriors that would otherwise be separated by hundreds of years.

Depends on how you look at it. How do you measure "more numerous" in the context of which we are speaking? For every soldier in the Empire there are more than ten people who could not hope to even put up a fight against a Norscan. One Norscan could kill ten farmers and one soldier that guards them.

Also, Nord raids aren't always or even mostly, successful. One of Karl's biggest and earliest successes, as shown in his quest battle, was crushing thousands of Norse raiders with few casualties by pinning them against the sea with artillery.

Agriculture can only support so many people and humans will always seek resources to consume. When there's not enough farmland to easily support them they will seek hunting grounds or new farmland.

Life in the Old World is a constant struggle of survival. Even the Norscans struggle to survive against the whims of their gods, who know no pity for the weak. After all, there are no farmlands in Norsca. That is why they look south for plunder and women when times get tough.

Once population rises to a certain point humans will always look to greener pastures.

Many of the southern tribes trade exotic goods, especially in Marienburg.

They form the core of the Norscan armies, because this trade and their proximity to Nordland allows them to maintain a consistently large supply of food and thus a larger population. They in turn are raided by other tribes.

The further north into Nordland you go, the less people you find, but the more dangerous those people are.

It's not even about Allies doing something, just them being actually alive and having a secure neighbour so I don't have to defend myself from all directions. I think the game triggers a flag that causes the faction to stop producing units the moment you start up a defensive alliance.

Almost all Bret Dukedoms have a 90% tax rate. After that, which is already enough to guarantee a shitty life, you have to deal with the unique quirks of each lord and duke. This can range from the benevolent (paying for weddings) to the insane (oh you looked at my horse guess I need to put out your eyes).

This. Think Gondor but with slightly better stats. They're the best human faction in the game, but not even for the stats. To get there, you have to achieve the following

Because of Annuminas, once you take out Gundabad and Misty Mountains, you'll probably have some downtime. I had about 90 or so turns to focus on building and infrastructure. As a result, now that I have Arnor formed, I can not only have a large army to act as the "free upkeep" garrison, but I can mobilize nightmarishly fast.

That stack I mentioned was 15 pike units, 4 rangers, and a general. Took me 2 turns to pump that shit out and because of the paved roads, 3 to mobilize it into one stack. I'm still raking in so much cash a turn because of trade and farms and mines and shit I can pull up about two more stacks of that before I start losing money.

Arnor's basically Gondor except stronger and it can shove doomstacks of super soldiers down your throat every five turns.

So I was playing Total Warhammer in single-player campaign as the Dwarves. I must've fucked up really badly because it took me until turn 90 to get cannons and gyrocopters. Zhufbar got totally wiped out by the Vampire Counts. The Empire lost half its territory to the Vamps, the other half to Archaon, and only controls Nuln.

It's turn 130 right now, I have Archaon bearing down on Nuln with two of my almost-full armies in marching distance, the Empire's army is literally just Karl Franz, and the Border Princes are my Vassals. And I'm still fighting Orks for control of the Badlands. The Top Knots only have two settlements left that I can clear pretty easily, the Vampire Counts have more important things to deal with, and all the remaining Dwarven kingdoms are fighting so I can't confed with them.

Should I just give up and start over, or should I keep going?

Unless you submod it out, waiting for the lake city to grow enough to build the Arnor palace you're probably done with Isengard depending on how fast you're expanding.

I really love Arnor's units, I think they look the best in the game. Even better than Rhun. They just take an arbitrary amount of time to get to, and I don't want to cheat and just start as them.
They're also worse than Gondor's roster which is a bit disappointing. Given how long they take the reward should be a bit better.

Which holy hell, Mordor's really living up to right now. Right now, they are actively fighting (as in JUST had engagements with); Arnor, Gondor, Rohan, Dale, and Mirkwood. And aside from Morgul and Ungol (which I JUST took), they're holding and have managed to push Dale out of Nurn. The worst part is I haven't heard shit about the Ring in ages. So I'm nervous about it turning up in Mordor and things really going to shit.

Arnor's strength isn't in its stats, which are pretty damn good. They're around Gondor's level, maybe SLIGHTLY below, but much cheaper. Not only that, but in the time while waiting to build the House of King in Annuminas, it makes some great time to work on your infrastructure once Isengard's gone. So by the time you unlock Arnor, you can mobilize at a far quicker pace than Gondor could ever hope to.

When Sauron called an invasion on Moria, Harad and Mordor joined in. When they arrived, there were two full stacks of professional to elite units waiting for them that I had just pumped out when I got the invasion notice. They've yet to make a move.

Vampire Counts took out Stirland and Averland pretty early. Barak Varr got their faces pushed in by a Greenskin Waagh and cowered in their last settlement for almost 50 turns. Only the southeast came out somewhat similar, but the Greenskins took Karak Azul itself and their armies were scattered while I was still fighting VCs north.

I mean it would be nice to have complete rosters. From a TT standpoint, I'd say the worst thing they missed was Harpies. I played against a few Beastmen and Dark Elf players back at my local shop and they would always run Harpies, basically to screen their scouts and to attack my war machines.

Yeah, but this would be the most obvious by a wide margin. The rock alone is larger than most siege weapons. It's certainly bigger than a battering ram. It'd be really shoddy work to just make them magically appear when the Cygor jams its hands in to the dirt. And would it have two different sets of melee animations, for when it has a boulder loaded and when it doesn't?

I have a dwarf lord in TWH who was originally called something like Burzak Thunderfist. But recently, I noticed that his name had changed. He is now known as Burzak Watched By Khorne.

Is this going to have any gameplay effects? Is he going to betray me? It'd be bad if he did; he's built entirely for lord-killing and his army is one of my strongest.

Depends on the direction they take, but canonically Beastmen are heavily mutated and fucked up. Their bodies aren't suited to things like writing or speaking. They carve runes in the Dark Tongue, but can't write them correctly because their fine motor skills aren't good enough, so their writing is visually distinct when compared to a Chaos worshipping human.

Speech is the same. Whilst they speak the Dark Tongue, it's a shitty, guttural, poorly pronounced pidgin variant. They can communicate with human Chaos worshippers, but it's difficult at the best of times. They did a REALLY fucking good job in the trailer, so i'm hoping it's all the same as those lines.

I like vanilla, but I feel like something is off or missing, but I can't put my finger on it.

I also like radious, but the fact that you swim in cash, soldiers cost almost no upkeep and the army cap is much higher leads to thousands of doomstacks on the map. This completely kills the fun for me and I prefer fewer soldiers.

Anyone else think this means the Beastmen will be capable of moving through impassable forest terrain?

Oh and that trailer was impressive and everything but I can't help but feel that beastmen will suffer the same problem that orcs have, serious vulnerability to missile fire. What that means is that in AI hands they will be rather easy to shoot up provided you have proper stack composition and know what a checkerboard formation is.

It's a cool unit, which people like, and a flying monster could be a useful thing for beastmen to have to make their roster more varied tactically and visually. Even if it wasn't that good in the tabletop, like a lot of things weren't.
