Generally a hawk or bird of some sort. You won't be fighting with the animal at your side (perhaps a saber if you're a Nelf). Hawks are great for tracking and helping find individuals and they won't generally draw much attention. Since they won't generally have magical adornments they won't be detected by anti-magic wards if there are any present. Even if there's an individual with some magic sensing abilities, it's not likely they would notice it on a bird perched in a tree unless it wasn't native to the region.

If you're an engineer, a gnome, a goblin, or a dwarf, you also have the possibility for mechanical companions disguised as living animals who can do other spying services for you. Keep in mind it's probably more thematically fitting for the latter three races I mentioned. Nelf engineers seems like heresy.

Im wondering if I should buy more gametime.
I played it once last year, the normal game has the old expansions included and all that, but I never got too far because I was too salty when I realised that there is no clear-cut main story. Instead its individual zone stories that you put together in your head. Its alright, but it wasnt what I expected and it left me feeling salty. People also ran through dungeons faster than I could say fuck and I never knew what was going on.
I kind of want to go back and give it another whirl, but at the same time I cant help but to feel like a weird outcast that nobody wants to have around there. Im just some slow dumbass that cant keep up.
