I've been told by testers that the experiments were lack luster and yield shitty benefits, and once you do the experiments, all the Vault turns into is a fancy settlement.

I heard you can increase settler SPECIAL and also get equippable Pip-boys for companions, but other than that...I can't think of anything. I'd like to be able to raise Piper's Special and give her perks.

I have a feeling I will just put lots of robots in it, maybe the synth factory mod thing, and I dunno what else. I don't think I'd have much fun with the DLC without mods, kinda like Contraptions. Wasteland workshop 1 at least was fun without modding it.

I guess it depends on what enb preset you're using. You can add a bunch of effects that aren't exactly optimized for the system.
I play FO4 on ultra at a steady sixty, but skyrim with a fairly decent enb goes between 40-60 fps. My Skyrim is modded to fuck with higher rest textures and floral overhauls. My FO4 I'm only using floral overhauls.

Except the worldspace was haphazardly slapped together without any love, resulting in something that looked like it was made by a 6-year-old in the sandbox, the dungeons were worse than the Vanilla dungeons lay-out wise and gave no incentive to explore, the main-quest was nonsensical and full of plot-holes, with most parts being a direct copy from Morrowind's main-quest - ending with the most ridiculous and lazy Deus Ex Machina imaginable - and all side-quests were straight copies from FO:NV. Not even exaggerating in the slightest here.

The only thing he had going for him were the voice actors. While the writing was still bad, they did an amazing job, giving life to the characters.
But what the author then did, was taking credit for all of that, and proclaiming that his mod is his application for Bethesda - with bright big letters on the mod's description page.
That pride and hubris barely can be topped, not even by Darren.

Of course, the Nexus hyped the fuck out of it, because, well, it's the Nexus, and hey, it was content - to some degree.
But no, Falskaar was complete and utter shit, and literally everybody with just enough time and voice actors of that quality can slap something better together.

My friend who likes to do models and shit has been trying to convince me to help him start making mods for fallout 4.
But he wants to immediately jump into trying to do something sortof big even though both of us have no experience at all doing that shit.
How easy/hard is it to get into/learn making mods considering that the only thing he will be doing is making the models and I will actually be doing all the work of actually trying to make it work?

You need 3DS Max 2013 for anything outside of big titty clothing mods and badly designed weapons.

The 3ds plugin Bethesda provided is confusing and there is barely any information on how it works.

Tutorials are spotty in general.

It's possible, but it's difficult.

Not to mention minor bugs breaking your mod around every bend and the general lash back from the community you'll get once in a while.

I chose Institute. My character's kinda weird I guess. Sided with Institute because he wanted to be with his son no matter what. Thought Synths were just really fancy, soulless machines, as well. After Father's death, spending time with Valentine, Synth Shaun, and going to Acadia, he believes more that Synths, at least Gen 3's, are just human clones, and what was going on was immoral. Although Railroad had the same ideals, they went around it stupidly and turned synths into Raider warlords and shit, doing more harm than good.

Too bad as the director I can't actually fucking do anything, or even get a personal synth (Nora) made just for me. I wish there was an ending where all factions were peaceful, even if it meant making a synth Maxson, or diplomatic meeting with all factions, including Institute. I still feel kinda bad that I never really did much with the BoS, with the exception of Danse's introductory quest. I might make a new character at some point just for BoS.

This sounds kinda sappy but if I had a say so in it, I'd make synths of loved ones for all the wastelanders that lost people. Like a synth Justin for Marcy and Jun. It might be morally questionable to do so, but they're clearly never going to be the same. I also think doing such things would make the wastelanders also less frightened of the Institute, if they're basically clones with memories of dead people, thats honestly pretty close enough.

Actually that gun and melee weapon tutorial used OS in the beginning steps, he has to cut out some stuff in nifskope, but it works.

1) They may be near extinction around boston area(Enclave isn't active there, they would have to migrate from the capital wasteland just like the super mutants, and the lone wanderer/BOS do a good job fucking up deathclaws)
2) You have very powerful weapons in F4, plus you can get in a suit of power armor much more easily, they are supposed to be a pushover. You fucking fight one as part of a tutorial, what do you expect?
3) You DO fight more than one at a time, there are swarms of them in the glowing sea

I like what F4 has done with the guns, only giving you a handful of them, but letting you make new guns with modifications. Problem is that the variety is still pathetic, they should have introduced weapons or mods from other fallout guns that aren't a staple to the franchise by adding guns from F2, Tactics, New Vegas ect

In a perfect world, this is how my shotgun selection in F4 would look like. Thankfully, this is now a reality thanks to the mods.


Pipe Shotgun:Used mostly by early game raiders and super mutants, this is the first shotgun you are likely to encounter. As they say, it's better than nothing. Low dmg compared to other shotguns, single barrel and no clip means it's a single shotgun from the Mojave with a new look. It's the second most flexible shotgun to modify, you can add a second barrel for a caravan shotgun, or add an actual magazine and turn it into an early game combat shotgun. What makes this shotgun competitive even in the late game is that you can turn it into a homemade grenade launcher(With two shots or a clip and semi auto fire a la 25mmAPW, depending on mods you install). If you played Dead Rising 3, this is your Boom Cannon

Double Barrel Shotgun:Still found in the early game, but less commonly, mostly found in stores, around the game world and in the hands of security or caravan guards. Two barrels mean better dmg pet shot than most shotguns, but only two shots before the fun ends and you have to reload. Big advantage is it's light weight, since it's sawn off. To make it competitive in the late game, there is a super shotgun upgrade that turns it into the Point Lookout Shotgun, firing both barrels at once

Lever Action Shotgun:Mod for the lever action rifle. Due to the rarity of the ammo outside far harbor, this upgrade turns the weapon into something you will use on day to day bases. It may not seem amazing as a semi auto shotgun when compared to later models, but it still delivers, and it delivers in style

"Combat Shotgun":Abomination From Fallout 3 is back. It fires slowly, but it's semi automatic and has a large magazine. Mid game weapon, mostly found in the hands of gunners or inside pre war buildings

Tactical Shotgun: A semi auto tacticool Looking Shotgun. Large magazine and high dmg make it a devastating weapon, but it's very rare, only limited to gun stores and the high level gunner encounters. This shotgun has the most modding variety out of them all, it can be turned semi automatic, accept scopes, grips, drum mags, alternative shells etc. If you like your shotguns semi automatic, with high dmg per shot versus fully automatic with a high ROF but less dmg, this is for you.

Riot Shotgun:The monster from New Vegas returns. Found more commonly on higher levels, mostly on triggermen, this is not only a devastating one shot weapon from the get go, but it is also very lightweight, only beat out by stockless combat shotgun, sawed off shotgun and lever action shotgun. It's pathetic 5 round magazine can be remedied by the drum mag mod, and you should make it since riot shotgun has a very high ROF, despite being semi auto. You can, of course turn it into a fully automatic weapon if you want, for even more dmg. Unique upgrade installs riot control rounds, which penetrate armor and have a chance to knock the enemy to the floor(chance per pellet, not per shot)

Auto Shotgun:The end game shotgun for you fellow shotgun lovers. This is a tacticool military weapon(AA12) found only in stores and on gunners or BOS at very high levels(75+). It has the same weight as the riot shotgun(5 pounds without mods), and it is fully automatic from the get go. Dmg is more or less on the level of the combat shotgun, but it's starting ROF is roughly that of the automatic combat shotgun as well . When upgraded, it's dmg is roughly on par with that of the riot shotgun, but it fires at insane speeds and it has a whopping 50 round magazine(starting magazine is 12 rounds). It's unique upgrade is a military medkit strapped on the side of the stock, increasing health gained from stimpacks as well as giving a passive slow health regenerating effect as well.

On an unrelated note, any idea what could be causing MASSIVE system wide lag when I use Everybody's Best Friend Dogmeat with Synthetic Love? Do I just need to download more RAM? I was getting like 2-3 minute load screens and 2 fps in places like Corvega and the missile silo at ArcJet before I uninstalled Everybody's Best Friend.
