Borderlands could be fixed if legendaries auto-scale and there was some kind of gun-building or modifying feature (so it's not 100% rng), or gun scaling feature (that costs eridium or crystals or something)

It already has a very nep-esque artstyle and general aesthetic.

I think the only two BIG problems with borderlands are

1. endgame scaling is bad especially in the OP range; you need to re-farm everything when you level up because of exponential damage/hp scaling so even the cheesiest rarest perfect legendaries only last for two level-ups tops before being irrelevant.

2.RNG nonsense; there's no way to get the precise components that you want without spending extreme amounts of time

Both of which could be fixed by either gun modding/building (allow purples and blues to have alterations to parts (say greater cost with each part on a weapon (first part swap = 50e, second = 100e, third 150 etc...); and you get two 'scaling' tokens for every level you gain starting at 51; which allows you to scale a lv50+ weapon to your current level; or maybe you can get them from TVHM+ raid bosses or buy them with seraph crystals or something.

Borderlands was a good idea, it just had a few key execution flaws; which could be fixed with some mechanics tweaks or new mechanics; and is in its current state actually a LOT of fun and very well paced (without need to constantly re-farm) with gibbed editors to edit/scale weapons periodically. I'm not talking about property merging or glitch abuse to get crazy overpowered shit, I'm just saying that when you don't constantly need swapping things out and can use things you find fun to use in an effective manner, the game is actually a LOT of fun.

(I played the original games, thought they were OK; recently [in the last 2 months] started playing 2 with gibbed editing on the side; have been having an absolute blast)

Never went really far in Borderlands for a few simple reasons:
-enemies have perfect accuracy, and spawn constantly, so you're always taking hit and you're not sure where they come from,
-the abilities all have cooldowns, so you're limited in how many breathers you can allow yourself,
-you're supposed to aim for critical hit, but sometimes it's borderline impossible in some situations. I'm thinking of the shields enemies who walk up to you and bash you with their shields, making it impossible to aim or even get away.

What do you guys think about the fixed party structure story mechanics in V-ii?

On one hand, I kind of like it because it forces you to play with different characters; which is something I didn't do much in other nep games; I'd always stick with my favorite party setups (which is not to say that all nep games give you all characters right a-way; but you have MORE than 4 characters for most of the other nep games; so you can't use everyone; while here there are long periods of the game where your party is fixed.

This also worked because they did some good scaling for the makers/candidates

By which I mean; pre V-2 being stuck with only nep and if and compa or just noire and uni; would be kind of unpleasant; since if, compa and uni weren't very good front-liners; but now; they actually are pretty effective, and even though you don't have full party with everyone coupled etc... you don't feel underpowered when you're forced to use them because you don't have anyone else.

On the other hand; the whole having everyone play through the same level range separately thing is kind of poorly thought out in that any DLC characters that carry over will become really overleveled.

Like by the time I started blanc arc; MA was lv40; so basically I can rush the whole thing soloing with MA without leveling blanc or rom and ram up at all. This isn't even some super weapon/armor pack dlc; these are dlc characters who are supposed to be added at fixed point in the story, they should be arc restricted as well I think.

Although on this front; I think they made a good good decision to not allow xp for non-frontline characters; so like EVERYONE doesn't become super overpowered for subsequent playthroughs (e.g. I have have umio and nepgya and GE; and am keeping them around lv 25 so I can use them in NG2 without them instakilling everything; basically get to go through the storymode content again with different characters with different mechanics than the first time; WITHOUT being OP)

The characters have VERY different play-styles and strengths, also for endgame level content, you basically need very specific builds to be effective; which is the root of my scaling complaint; re-farming for that shit every level is unreasonable.

That being said, I think easiest character to play in BL2 anyways (I played brick in 1) is Gaige (only one I went legit OP8 w/o duping/save editing); you don't even need to anarchy, just go full shock/close enough/interspersed outburst and your missed bullets ricochet to enemies; it's not 100% random; like the place it hits the wall/ground needs to have LOS on potential ricochet targets; so it's not just shoot randomly everywhere; but once you get the feel of it, and know the general direction to shoot in based on the level (simple things like shooting above the heads of enemies through a window so they bounce off the back of the room or ceiling to hit them etc... or shotgunning at the ground in front of the enemy's feet so all of those pellet auto-target things in an arc in front of you etc...) you can clear rooms without entering them.

Any char can go OP8 legitimately, I'm just saying Gaige is the easiest/most relaxed to do so with; and because of the ricochet skill you can make absolutely devastating use of quite a few of the game's gimmicky high damage weird spread/low accuracy/slow projectile weapons that are basically useless on any other character.

That being said; Gaige with save editing to get 'perfect weapons' and a few extra skillpoints is basically haxmode; with something like an electric x7 conference call or perfect hydra or thunderball fists, you just walk around tapping the mouse and shooting in random directions and things around you melt.

You have to throw away guns with mechanics you like very quickly because they get outpaced by the scaling and you need to constantly switch to incrementally statistically stronger weapons that you do not enjoy using.

Worst of all when you find a perfect weapon and you're not at max level; because it'll shred through everything for a few levels, and become completely useless in about 5. (that 5 being 1 or 2 [2 only for the absolute best legendaries] in endgame stretch)

Just a note; if you were getting outgunned at 15, that probably wasn't as much scaling unless you were using extremely underleveled stuff; scaling is much more gently in the beginning of the game; there ARE level ranges for various locations; so gear scaling or not, if you're level 15 and got to a lv 20 area you're kind of fucked

The games seem to establish (at least in Hyperdimension) the characters are born in the order of console generations and not based on real world release dates. Then the generation is just as long as maybe half a human lifespan. We've only seen bits and pieces with the Uzume -> Uranus -> Neptune succession. The wikis seem to have stopped being updated since before Rebirth 1 came out so there's not a lot of information there.

You could say one is older than the other based on the Wii, PS3, and Xbox dates and just assuming another Sega release in the same time frame.
