I'd argue that it's far more a follow up to V than mk2. The events of mk.2 are mentioned in the prologue, and Arfoire acts like her mk.2 self instead of the eggplant farmer. Thats all the relevence mk.2 has, aside from the ASIC side-ot with Nitro+. As for V, The true ending directly ties into the plot of VII. Big Nep takes Croire's dimension powers on a joyride for a few years and ends up in Kurome's prison, then drops the console in the alley where Nep finds it, which is how she meets Uzume. Then later after her first plan fails, Kurome steals the last Rei's power from Croire to try and crash the hyperdimension as her last big plan. Without those two, either VII wouldn't have happened, or more likely Kurome would have won.

As PC-fag, it sure did. The overall layout for the game is so different that it really stands out amongst the other main series.

Breaking the story into 3 arcs is pretty genius imo, that way the story doesn't become a total slog like what happened to V's chapter 2 up to chapter 8.

On my first playthrough, could someone describe in loose non spoilery terms what the bad end conditions are?

I ususally like to do bad end on first playthrough, eg conquest, although i also dont like to spoiler myself on first run so i dont like to do guides then... (will look for subsequent playthroughs)

Just whats the requirement?
Dont level the city things beyond a certain level? Dont perform certain optional side convos? Like in those kind of terms

Its not a huge deal, sometimes i accidentally do good or normal end on first run going in blind, id just prefer to do it this time in "order" from worst to best

I really want to play the Neptunias past Rebirth 1 (which is very fun), but missed the sale.

I thought about pirating them and buying them in the next sale, but I wouldn't replay them then, resulting in it appearing as "0 hours played" in my library, indicating no interest.
