He gets too much free dueling potential with too little meaningful mana costs and absurdly low CDs. So of course he has to either be dogshit or overpowered based on the numbers. dota 2 has actually had a spike in popularity in the past 6 or so months

it's not, I think it's back at the second most watched twitch game by hours watched / average viewers, for the last two months atleast.

It also had the highest non e3 concurrent viewership for last month, something like 500k. I think their last major got near, or past, 1 million viewers for it's final.

I think Dota 2's future really depends, as usual, on this year's TI.

The games boring for YOU because thats not what Riot wants anymore, League isnt about individuals snowballing into insane "1v1 me you wont" scenarios

Riot wants this to be a team game where team work overcomes everything as cheesy as that sounds, look to the Ryze and Taric reworks

Nothing in their old kits functioned in that aspect, now its pretty much given the go ahead for entire teams to just dive into the back line.

One thing I've noticed is no matter how hard players complain about balance,
how balanced a game is has very little to do with how popular/beloved it gets.
Season 3 was a steamy shitty assassin orgy where everything without a dash was trash tier
but people went for it because it was flashy and catchy and big playz.
They released cancer like zed and hasagi that made everyone mad but got them filthy autistic child money.
And that's how league became big.
Now they're actually trying to make healthy champs instead of feeding obssessive teenagers and the result is some playerbase decline.
