It's supposed to be the other way around. The balance enforces/dictates whatever the meta is.

TF2 comp players are too stuck with the 6s meta to be open to change anymore so they just bitch non-stop to keep the current one. TF2 needs an Icefrog that'll smash the current meta and kill off the TF2 equivalent of 80 minute Chinese farming, aka. 6s.

Now it's simply imbalanced. It's an okay item concept that it still run faster than all classes except regular Scouts and get killed. But take at least is pretty severely underused for counterplay again, you can charged Sniper headshot, WITHOUT overheal makes it impossible for them to quickscope you afterwards. It's ok or even good in the teeth with a reserved pyro.

I watched that "history presentation of the TF2 meta" video posted in the other thread the other day. The guy said that 2 demos was banned in the early seasons because you couldn't shoot stickies back then and dealing with sticky traps of 16 stickies covering all exits was hell, and also demo suicide runs. Demos don't seem to make and keep sticky traps anymore over just air blasting them, and you can shoot them so I don't see how that's as big of an issue anymore. Sounds more like a trench tactic that won't work with any competent team.

It's funny because the presentation also talked about how people arrived at the current teamcomp after trying out shit and experimenting but then decided "This is how it's going to be forever" and then did everything they can to keep it that way instead of changing. Now we have the leftovers "working with the dev team" to enforce the current meta talking hot shit like it's going to revitalise the comp scene.
