For start I just give stupid extension names to my files like .texture for images and .map for TXT files which store map data. Windows explorer won't know what it is, while the engine can still read it because it does not care about stupid Windows shit and can make a difference (for example) between an actual PNG and a TXT file which was renamed to PNG.

As for I final step, I want to put everything into an archive, like a .ZIP, but I'll rename it again to some stupid thing like .DATA, and let the game decompress and load the data from there.

Io is a moon of Jupiter; the closest moon, and the only one that isn't largely ice/water. Its proximity to Jupiter is responsible for that, as well as it's extreme volcanic activity and electromagnetic interaction (it's responsible for basically doubling the size of Jupiter's magnetosphere, and their interaction generates a several hundred kilovolt potential across its poles).

The game concept only involves robots, by the way. As far as the environement goes, the pros if IO would be things like volcanoes, geothermal energy and a few other interesting things, whereas Mars has some of the more interesting topography, like the Valles Marineris canyons.

This doesn't really look like progress, but it is! I modified my dialog system a little so now instead of having 1 line for in-progress quest and 1 line for quest-complete, I can have 2 lines for every quest task within a quest. Which basically means if you have to talk to an NPC 3 times in a quest, I can actually have different dialog all 3 times - and they can have different dialog whether that step of the quest is completed or not (rather than only checking the entire quest). It's still kinda hacky but I think it's enough to finalize for the demo version.

In related news, I fixed a bug where the text turned back to white instead of staying blue when clicking on a topic (you had to move the mouse over something else, then back to it for it to go blue again). It was super annoying.
>>
>>147597740
>iirc people theorize it can be a potential colony location.
Not really. IO is literally the driest place in the solar system, and the most geologically active. Maybe not a bad place to send robots, but not a good place for humans at all.

Or like, ask.
>>
>>147597589
Well, Blizzard uses this mpq format for storing data, yet there's software which can just open it for you, however I see no one making games with their assets but it's still a good layer of protection for the game's resources, so the average user won't fuck it up. I know we are talking about an indie/amateur scene where we haven't got the resources to sue each other, yet I can hardly imagine any of us would just steal assets like that and use them in their commercial product. A game's look has to be very consistent, and it's just unimaginable for me how can one just copy paste one of my trees to his game. We are not talking about RPG Maker games here.

Any idiot worth his salt would just add some shitty handle made of wood (even if its just a rounded 2x4) or at least use some kind of cordage to wrap the metal so it's comfortable to hold.

I used to use the heart but I had a lot of people say it was hard to keep track of while moving, so I switch it to this little circle you see on the player in this webm.

I honestly think the bars would look better if I just didn't leave them as rectangles, but I do think icons would look better than that no matter what.
>>
Light shader option #2 is coming along nicely, currently it's only working suboptimally on the tops, once I get it to stop rejiggering like it is and flashing away and stuff I'll work on the bottom, and then after that corner sensitivity so it casts the lines out at the right corners. Basically if you can't tell it's making an outline of what the light would traditionally look like if it were the original light but it's just the outline. I'm gonna make different textures for this shader option to compliment the effect, I think it'd look really cool.
Also some inspirational words from someone in development hell for close to a year now this August.
>>
>>147598286
I know it's not the final design, but a huge bar like that just breaks the atmosphere of your game. I don't know how many damage you'll take, but simply putting Zelda like hearths to one of the corners would be just enough and it would be in tone with the character.

Even ignoring the grip, the weapon itself is putting way too much effort into making something unwieldy. Boxy weapons are not common in real life - the cheapest type of firearm design in modernity is a tube-based machine gun ala the sten gun of WW2. Almost all improvised weapons are based on this concept rather than the massive milled receiver seen in that image because milling out an effective receiver is a ton of work and, if you're an asshole in the post-apocalypse, you can probably find a pipe quicker than you can find a block of steel to work with.
>>
>>147598590
Maybe you should do like a 1/3rd of a circle directly under the character, then break that 1/3 into 3 for each dash?

I don't like the bars, too intrusive. I think a smaller but still noticable indicator is good.

You also just dont need one for the most part. You can let your player count for themselves. Games like Rogue Legacy have multiple jump/dashes with no indicator.
>>
>>147598648
You actually don't take damage.
Right now it is one hit and you are dead.

The bars keep track of jumps and dashes, which you only have 3 of each.

I think I am just going to go back to what I had with the faded circle around the player.

Or maybe just have nothing and leave it up to the player to keep track.
>>
>>147598757
That is true, I guess I will just have to find a way to convey that to the player easier.
>>
>>147598750
As an example, here's an actual handmade firearm found in Israel. Note - made from pipe, very simple construction, does not require 800 billion ropes and weird details to hold together.
>>
>>147598750
Every time some retard mentions gun control all I can think of is how any dumbass with enough spare time and some basic tools can make a sten gun.
>>
>>147598773
>leave it up to the player to keep track

You can't throw away A E S T H I C for realism, you autists. It's a game, it doesn't have to make real life sense.
How unwieldy the weapon is does not matter. No real person is going to be holding that gun. The model isn't going to get cut by the handle unless you tell it too, that's how games work.

That jew gun is not visually interesting. It looks like what it is, scrap metal and offcuts. It's going to put me to sleep from boredom before it can put me to sleep from bullets.

People are bored of CoD. No one wants to see the AK74SU again. That kind of thing is cool in real life, but in fantasy it's total shit.

>You can't throw away A E S T H I C for realism, you autists. It's a game, it doesn't have to make real life sense.
It matters if you're trying to make something believable - ie, if I'm rocket jumping around an arena having a weapon that shoots lasers that travel in projectile form and track enemies doesn't bother me but if I'm in an atmospheric setting grounded in reality exploring if I see a guy wearing reasonable enough clothing and holding a ridiculous toy prop of a gun because that's what the designer thought the guns should like, I'm going to not exactly buy the overall themeing.
It's not like you inherently have to make everything ever boring, it's just that if you're doing something that is supposed to be believable you should base it on what works in reality.

Don't you feel like you should add something to the background? When you are near to the ocean floor it looks great, when you are near to the surface, it gives the impression that the setting is incomplete. Maybe you should check what the first DK game did to prevent this, or maybe you should just add different colors of water. Like it's lighter at the top, and gets darker and darker as you descend.

Is that link work safe?

Here, I did the search for you:

You basically see the ocean's surface and the floor all the time, and they fade out in the distance.
Another good example is Rayman, where they just put stuff in the background, but maybe that's a different case, since you are in a cave and not in actual open water.

Close. I got an array with all locations and he advances from his current location to the first one from the array. When current location == locations[0] he removes the first index and repeats the process.(Also checks if length of array is not zero, else it just finishes walking)

I'm sure it's not awfully efficient, but it's baby's first game so I'm looking to learn and not release a commercial game. (Which is why I implemented my own movement as opposed to using UE4's tasks.)

Unless you want to make a typical RPGMaker game and have very little chances to stand out you should find your own middle ground in my opinion. I still respect people wanting to emulate the old ways of course, but you can still do so without putting such restrictions on yourself.

Have you tried making a 16x16 or 16x32 sprites? It's just ridiculous.

Art will always make the experience better.

not 100% of the time

ADOM is worse with graphics because in ASCII the entire map fits on a single screen whereas with tiles it doesn't.

Tomorrow I will write a perlin noise function to make pretty and non-repetitive grass. I'm gonna do it 100% for sure.

>>147607220
Some games need art to be worked further on. You can't make your whole game with boxes and hope to only bother with art at once when it's "done". I can't know per advance the hit-boxes of everything I plan to make, nor I can know whether what I'm coding is really want I want to do unless there's art on it.

People who can make a lot of progress without drawing a single asset are very lucky people I'd say.

>>147607326
Completely subjective and circumstantial.

Some roguelikes look messy as fuck with art instead of ASCII.
Some games would become too slow if they had animations.
For some games it would be nearly impossible to represent everything with art (Stuff like Dwarf Fortress) because of the sheer size of things that can happen.

Most games do become better with better graphics, but some need to sacrifice those graphics for gameplay complexity, and some niche fanbases prefer that over pretty but shallow things.

Also don't feel too discouraged about sprites when you go to animate them. the small mario in super mario world's normal running sprite is only 2 frames! and megaman's was 3.

You don't really have a choice then do you?
Just know that programming takes a lot of learning, like years, so don't get mad when you are in way over your head.
>>
>>147607657
>147607657

You can literally make a game from start to finish, complete in all aspects in 6 fucking months.

I could probably make the original mario bros in 2 months.

Everything.
Characters and Animations
All the backend gameplay stuff like hitboxes, powerups, win/lose conditons.
All the sound effects and music (although these are my weakest areas)
All the levels (which is mostly just making a lot of copy paste for the most part)

It's not hard to make a game when you know what you're doing. The reason it's hard and takes a long time is because most people are stumbling and learning on the way what works and what doesnt.

No, I don't have a choice, you're right.
It's just a matter of getting started really. My biggest problem is that I have such an intense fear of failure that I haven't even started (I mean, I've tried programming a couple of times and liked it, but then stopped for whatever reason).
I'm 23 and it already feels like I'm way too late.

We have people older than you who got started recently anon. You're not too late.

I'm 26 and I also got started a month ago or so. Although I was already somewhat an artist, programming ended up actually being something that I don't fear, if anything I like when I need to code shits. Art on the other hand...
>My biggest problem is that I have such an intense fear of failure
This, is holding me back. I keep backing up references, looking everyone and their grandma's arts, thinking about it, but I don't do anything myself. I know I should practice and produce every day but my brain is a retard and won't let me. I'll try today again, hopefully I'll at least produce something.

What kind of game do you want to make, anon? In my case I consider myself lucky because I have a very precise dream in mind, a dream I've had for a long time, so I know where I'm going. If you don't have a precise and realistic one yet, you should ponder on it. It's important to have a clear goal.

Don't fear failure. It's how you learn.

If you understand that you don't have to make a perfect game on the first try, you're already better off than many other people. Also don't work on your dream game, you'll just end up ruining it for yourself. Keep your dream game after you have some years of experience.

God damn. Also his slash attack is now taller so you can't just jump over it normally. Brings back the danger. All that's left really is to try modifying his super jump attack, such as making it known that he jumped and you are unable to see him at the time. There is also currently no reason to ever assume that you need to jump to avoid the stun, and getting stunned in the last phase early on makes you get completely destroyed so I need to adjust that.

Unlike other enemies in the game that die to your puzzle cubes, you have to solve the 4 cube puzzle instead of the usual 2 cube puzzles while dodging his attacks. In 3 phases and the puzzle changes every phase.

It looks good. However I still think that the place at the bottom feels so narrow and thus so unsafe that unless there's plenty of citizens (or citizens simply like to go there, or it's a spawning spot etc.), players won't go there and you just end up with a part of the screen which stays unused.

>>
>>147612348
A roguelike by itself is not hard, it's so simplistic that most tutorials show you how to code it from scratch using just the language and the console. Using gamemaker for it is akin to spreading butter with a katana.

However _because_ most tutorials show you how to do it from scratch you need some previous programming experience, so using Game Maker might not be a bad idea after all.

Off the top of my head here's some things you will learn while making a roguelike
-Level generation
-Dijkstra or A* algorithm for pathfinding for your AI
-Basic inventory system
-Basic stats system
-Basic combat system with health/attack/dodge/damage
>>
>>147612737

All of that stuff is not hard individually to people who know how to program, but to someone who is a complete beginner it would seem almost insurmountable.

Why not go Titan. Titan has a dense atmosphere. Titan also has liquid bodies on its surface. It is filled with methane lakes. In case of Titan, water is its magma. Titan is covered with a crust of water ice below which is water. On top of the crust are methane lakes. Titan also shows signs of volcanic activity. On earth, magma bursts out of volcanoes. But Titan has no magma, its most hottest matter is near freezing water. And that's exactly what is bursting out of Titan's volcanoes, which then flows out and schorches the surface, melting the ground itself and then solidifies as new crust. So, Titan's magma is water and is just as deadly to it.

Titan's Surface. Dry land is made up of volcanoes, mountains and sand dunes. However Titan's sand is not like the sand here on Earth. Our Earth sand is little pieces of silicate rock. But Titan's crust has 0% of silicate rock, it is almost entirely water ice. Thus, scientist speculate that Titan's sand is actually tiny granules of water ice.

Organic life on Titan:
Titan is considered a much more likely condidate for hosting organic life. But just not the oxygen breathing, liquid water drinking kind, since there is none of both. But it has enough chemical elements to form methane based life. There could be life forms in the Titan's methane lakes and there could also be life in its liquid water filled mantle.

Pic is an artists rendition of Titans surface with methane lake, mountains of ice and water volcanoues.

I think you could make a pretty awesome setting there. You could even push the organic life thing further and pretend that there is complex multicellular life there who are accustomed to living in −179.2 °C temperature. You could even push the organic life thing so far as to have some sort of native alien pre space flight civilizations on it.

Your robots invading Titan would sort of like aliens made of molten iron invading earth.

No, I expect that when someone asks for roguelike for you to recommend a series that actually covers a fucking ROGUELIKE. Which includes level generation.

If you won't do it, and if you're going to be a jackass about it on top of that, then I will.

I wouldn't say that. Sure, in the end it was massive, but it didn't jump like that straight away. Early ps2 games looked like absolute garbage. It wasn't until a little later that games started to look good. Kind of how early ps3 games looked gross up until half way through.

sorry about attacking a name on posts, I'm running a game in /qst/ general currently

Anyways, more facts about Titan

It has an atmosphere that is two times denser than earth. This means that you could fly there with homemade wings, because atmosphere is so thick and gravity is weak (even though Titan is larger than Mars).

Its climate is also very similar to earth. There is the same hydro circle going on like on earth except that this happens to methane instead of water. Liquid water evaporate from the surface, forming thick cloud (giving it the orange color). Then that methane vapor rains replenishing the massive network of lakes rivers and seas.

Two questions:

-What do the circles mean?

That's kinda what I implied yes, it's used for too many things, it's like a new trend. I don't mean any disrespect to beginner anon who asked the question earlier but I wouldn't be surprised if he himself wasn't even sure of what he wanted to make. "Oh I want to make a game for fun, where do I start guys?". You don't recommend learning C# or C++ to someone like this, he'll just quit after a day, if not closing the page after scrolling through it.

So recommending him to try his hand on GM:S as a very first gamemaking experience with a teacher explaining things for him was a good recommendation I found.

>>147614261
The circles are just for debugging purposes. The jump attack increases in intensity depending on the phase, and phase 3 (last) is the one shown. It has 2 variants depending on what moves it learned. Also depending on its distance from the player it does different attacks. If you are in melee range it does its melee attacks, if you are not in melee range but not too far it does a different set. Too far and it does another set.

I made pic related

Basically Game Maker has two main issues:
1) It hardly supports separating game logic and game graphics.
You could make the game using a bunch of ds_maps or 2D arrays and then display the content of these arrays, but you'll be struggling against an engine that's made to handle logic and graphics on the same level. You won't even be able to use the object system that's at the heart of Game Maker, because all objects need to be physically present somewhere in your game room!

Instead you'll basically need to implement methods for doing a bunch of super simple shit with arrays, and this is where we run into problem 2:

2) It lacks methods
Game Maker supports only one kind of methods: global scripts. It's incredibly difficult to pass information around.

So yeah basically it's a nightmare. I recommend libtcod instead, it's super easy to learn.

So make it a vampire hunter game. One player is a vampire and isn't visible in mirrors and people try to find out who.

If you murder someone who isn't a vampire you're declared an outlaw and everyone can kill you with no penalty and NPC guards will arrest you for public execution. Vampire cannot be declared outlaw and he can teleport and can steal appearances(he can be executed if he steals an outlaws appearance). However his health is constantly degenerating so he needs to kill and drain blood or he starves to death.

Various co-op tasks will give you garlic spray, salt, blessed crucifixes and other vampire hunter trinkets. But if you end up co-oping with the vampire you're probably not going to make it out alive from the task.

You can access the mouse location from the player controller, then trace a line to it from the camera which can hit some triggers.

Like you'll have a small hitbox on the nose, write the code to interpret mouse motions while the mouse is held down, e.g. if you go left, the nose increases in size.

>I don't like X, it must be a meme.

You have probably played tons of low poly games without even realizing it because of good textures.

Low poly is clearly the way forward for indie devs that can't afford 1000s of work hours modeling and rigging characters. And unlike pixel art, with the proper shaders, textures and lighting they can look good without the need of giving it any 'retro' style shit.

Sounds to me like you only need to query the visible tile for each unit. Since the only other thing they know is how large the world is (presumably). So when doing path finding to an arbitrary point you just apply whatever path finding algorithm you have for that unit and instead of measuring traversal cost just based on the terrain measure it based on visible*terrain cost (where visible is zero or one). That way the tiles that aren't visible will be presumed empty.
The copy shouldn't be necessary, regardless of how you do this. I think the simplest code change would be to have the units store a much smaller array that's bounded by their maximum view range (for simplicity we don't bound it tighter) and a coordinate into the tile map which somehow maps these tiles onto the tile map.

I don't know the project you're doing at all but the idea of them storing a copy of the world doesn't make sense to me at all. Why can't you check the visibility while pathfinding? You could just store an array of visibility state. A small array just containing if it's visible or not.

A better solution is to add other classes of monsters and don't say which are in the game. Sure you might counter a vampire by gather up next to a mirror.

But a Black Mage on the other hand could delete your mirror image and have you unlawfully murdered by everyone else who thinks you're a vampire now, Or he could be spreading poison gas in the room and killing everyone in a single strike.

My biggest hurdle was figuring out when to look at people in the eyes and when to stop. That, and learning to spot whether people were involving me in group conversations, and how to naturally keep a 1-on-1 conversation going.
These are pretty easy tricks, they were just really obscure to me. These days I look like the generic "slightly weird" guy at the very worst, pretty much everyone is seriously surprised when they somehow learn I'm autistic. So I'm doing pretty well I think.

Cyberpunk is a genre in itself, crossgrafting its aesthethics to something else isn't going to give good results. You want drugs, hacking, sneaking shooting, and punk inspired fringe elements and corporate fascism as central pillars of gameplay. which makes it rather ill fitting for something like a linear jump and gun platformer or a side scrolling 2D space shooter.

That you design a game as a single coherent piece without trying to sandwich x into y. or z but with w.

Cyberpunk is a pretty specific niche genre and can't just be blindly grafted to anything with ease, perhaps you're looking for "gritty futuristic theme" as a word instead of cyberpunk? that works a lot better, Otherwise It's like suggesting what "kind of game would male homosexual romcom aeesthethics go well with? Yeah it's a tactical RPG. I do like Fire Emblem (especially 4 and 9) but Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre are far more stronger influences

The artist added impromptu bloom this morning and I don't really know how I feel about it. On one hand it brings out the shading on a lot of the generic classes, but on the other hand, it makes blonde hair look radioactive

>>147622103
The left side is consistently the attacker and the right side is consistently the defender, so I'm afraid it might not work so well. When attacking the player should know where to expect information, and in this case it's looking for how much damage will be inflicted. I still have to add some HP bars below each model, but my plan is to have a brighter red bar be the current HP, and then the amount to be chunked off would be in a darker red (or some other similar shade, orange or yellow) so that the player can quickly determine how badly they're going to wound the defender as a % of their HP

>game is well along but not close to done
>don't want to lose the progress on the project by removing myself from the team
>don't want to keep devving with these morons
Frustrating.

How to solve?
*Steal the source,
*LGPL licence and publish it on github as an opensource game project
*develop there and eventually release?
*nobody believes the talent-less losers have done any of it

It's tough. Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't join bad teams. Especially consider this for collab jam. It may be fun working with people and seeing some 'free' progress on your game. And that's fine if they're actually equal to you. But don't be the best guy on the team. They have been making an effort to seem good to you because they immediately recognize that you can do stuff. They're gonna get worse.
They might even stop working and just start pretending to work. Some may even start being idea guys.

I'l only work with girls if I get out of this. Every guy has been awful

Thank you.

At most I've probably played half a Sonic game in my life. I grew up liking Mario best, and I wouldn't be posting on this thread if SMW modding hadn't caught my attention years ago.

My guess is that the appeal of Sonic is the cast and the universe/story which are at the same time expansive and easy to get into. Unlike Mario, there's enough lore and characterization to keep people who like those things interested, yet you don't need to study Deepest Lore and character motives to dive into the series. Surface level knowledge is enough.

Characters, specifically, all obey some very specifically restricted, yet very simple formulas (colors, theme, animal, power, prominent personality trait), and the "autistic" kind of fan LOVES that shit. That's why Sonic OC donut steel is a thing.

You'll find the same kind of OC obsession with Undertale fans, to a lesser degree (monsters don't have enough restrictions; skeletons might, maybe). A better example would be Homestuck's trolls: they follow that exact kind of simple, strict formula that leads to similarly colossal fan obsession (and so do many other aspects of Homestuck; it's probably the most autistic fanbase I've ever been in).

Damn, sorry, that's a stupid long post. Sorry for sperging out.

I have this code right here for the player character.

It checks for collisions to the left and if it finds a box to push then it runs the user0 event in the box.
The user0 event is an almost exact copy of this code, but I want to forgo the need for the user0 and instead keep everything within the player code.
Can I transfer this code so it runs in the box in a chain reaction of pushing madness without the user0 event from the box?

I hope that made sense.

>poorly designed
That's not even the major problem with the game. The major problem with the game now is its dreadful performance. I don't remember the stats but someone concluded that the game allocates and deallocates like half a gig every second or so. It wasn't that way when notch was in charge.

But his design was disrupted by the games popularity.

The situation was more like this:
>post your shitty game on agdg
>anon's like it and start a general for it
>'haha flattering'
>game starts getting spread through viral videos
>'haha yeah sure only temporary right?'
>'Ey anon what you gonna add to this game?' - thousands of people
>Scramble to put up a plan for the game
>'Holy shit this game looks awesome'
>work on game
>realize you can have people pay for updates during the development time
>release a version with tons of reasonable improvements and a few unfinished features
>crowds go wild over the 'potential' they see
>you're just an autistic neckbeard who wanted to make a game for his friends
>realize the feature requests are far beyond what you can handle
>panic
>hire a guy to help with developing the project
>can't possibly live up to promises
>community starts modding your game
>Jesus Christ there's so much shit now
>Every possible direction the game can go in is being covered by mods
>Would have to beat a single feature mods implementation of something when devving an entire game
And there you are.

It turned out quite well though. He got rich, the users got to enjoy the mods thanks to the community.

It's awful to have your small idea thrown into huge scope.

You gotta be curious about whatever the other person's talking about (this goes double for hobbies, something they did recently, their past, or how they feel).
When some guy mentions his holiday in Rome to you, your first reaction might me to automatically talk about your own holiday. But it's customary to ask a few questions about his holiday instead - the kind that you can't answer with "yes" or "no".
Like: How long did you spend there, what did you visit, what's the most fun thing you did. Ideally, also ask about some of the details in their answers (oh, you've been to the Coliseum? how was it?).
Then one of two things happens:
-He asks about your own holiday.
-Awkward silence for more than a couple seconds. Or he stops giving out details, or looks away from you.
This is your turn to give him some details about your own holiday, or a similar topic ("this reminds me...").
From there you can steer the conversation in whichever direction you want. If socializing is wearing you out, that's also the perfect opportunity to pull out your phone, check the time and pretend you need to go.

I find that body language is something that's ridiculously important. You can spot spergs from across the room. Things like what kind of postures they mimic from the person they're talking to, where they put their arms their facial expressions when listening etc.

It's also weird how you can know if the person is listening, some people seem to look right through you, others

That's me, and I'm making it right now.
First tutorial will be on how to make an animated fish, like this one.

It's going to be the most difficult kind of stuff I will be teaching, but it's still going to be fairly easy (using a very mechanical step-by-step approach) and if you can handle that, you'll be able to replicate literally anything I can do.

If it's still too hard, I can promise that the next couple of tutorials will be much simpler (won't require a single artistic bone in your body).

Hope some of you will have use of this stuff.
Will post again as soon as I've got the video ready and uploaded.

>Do you see these guys every day?
No

The point is more that I've invested so much time I just don't want to waste it. I can't really forbid them from keeping my stuff because there's no real attribution being made within the project. And as you know it's not like I can just take the bits I've made and that's somehow 'preserved progress'. There's a few things I could easily reuse but most of it isn't really like that. And with so much work behind it I feel maybe id just stick it out and encourage a credits where we get very specific categories. So I can use it as a reference. I don't think what I've made is bad, I'm quite proud of it. But I'd like to have a way to say 'I made these parts of the game, unfortunate it turned out like it did'.

If I just drop out and take my stuff I have nothing to show really because most of it is tools or specific to those game systems.

I just don't know what to do.

I finally have some enemies in my game.

Now to add attacks so you can dispose of them too.
>>
>>147629671
I'll try making it a separate object then. Thanks!
>>
>>147630451
Now I might want to add that it does work while not as a separate object, but I always use Draw GUI for printing that kind of information to the screen.

If you made an anime would you be upset if someone downloaded the anime with the pure intent of buying it later?

>for being an enginedev you're making a lot more progress than I thought you would
I planned most of the scope of the game beforehand so I'm only accounting for what needs to be in the game, rather than trying to make the next GameMaker. That probably helps.
>>
>>147628387
Oh sweet! Didn't expect you to be working on this right now.

Whether you end up doing a video or write it I'm very much looking forward to it. What about writing + video? Surely there are things that could be better shown in video, while other things better as text? I don't know, just throwing ideas. Good luck.

XXDC?
>"#[email protected] Join us in our IRC channel for XDCC bots and discussion of your favorite ANIMES."
XDCC is just normal FTP really.
I could upload it to mega.co.nz . It's very unlikely they'd somehow figure that out because it's encrypted traffic.

I mean if it's a real risk you're better off waiting obviously. But I'd like to help if I can.
>>
>>147631918
I was also thinking of uploading to mega for him but for his own good anon should learn how to get around things by himself.
>>
>>147631617

How are you doing tiles?

And how are you managing states like intro, main menu, gameplay, etc? I'm an enginedev too. I have rendering, basic 2d physics for frame independent movement, basic collision so far that allows for click detection, and I'm just working on sound
>>
>>147631812
Crunchyroll does not work in my country.

>>147631918
Thanks but I think will just wait for the dvd or they might put it on streaming sites later. I can maybe ask friends who work at the publisher.

It's showing the two types of lights there are, one is an outline, with an outline world, and the other is a more filled in light with filled in objects and stuff. I haven't gotten around to making the outlines yet but I can't imagine it'd be too difficult. If you're asking why they're there instead of just 1 light type for the game, well, I don't have an answer.

ideaguy here
a game that takes place on a planet very much like the Staurns Moon Titan. You are banished there and got to take with you only the basic tools for survival - your evnironmental suit, your device that can extract nutrients from inedible stuff, water purifier.

You as a player are now trapped on a planet which surface temperature is -197C. You cannot leave your suit and any puncture in it will cause you to freeze to death instantly.

The planet is not empty however. It has plants and animals and civilization who hasn't invented firearms yet. The whole world looks kinda like Dune or African Savannae.

Player soon finds the story hook. The winter is coming. No, no snow and shit, but a crapton of rain. This will cause the awakening of thousands upon thousands of creatures that have so far layed dormant. They will rise and devour everything they can find, then they mate, lay the eggs into ground and die. Those eggs will have been hatched when the next winter comes along and you arrived just at the onset of winter.

Help natives, fight them, do whatever.
