The exception to this rule is Wild Riders, young ferocious warriors and hunters who wants to prove themselves and fuck around. They might save a Bretonnian village from Beastmen one day, and kill of all the peasants in said village the next. The Wild Riders don't care, they are just hunting.

It literally misses the ENTIRE point of what was good about Warhammer Fantasy.

Warhammer was always silly, but at it's core it is very much a grounded setting, most people in the world live normal lives, scraping to survive in this big scary world that just fucking hates them. And the setting actually allows them to matter, the front and center "Good Guys" faction is composed mostly of ordinary dudes from ordinary villages.

Almost all of the factions, discounting only the Lizardmen and Skaven, are also really easy to understand even if you don't have deep knowledge of fantasy shit. Everyone knows what a Dwarf is, everyone can get the concepts of evil vikings or skeleton egyptians. Everything has names that make it easy to tell what it's supposed to be at a glance.

Meanwhile Age of Smegmar throws all of that out of the window, it's this utterly alien, overly operatic pseudo-sci-fi space adventure where everyone that matters is an immortal demigod that fights eternal battles over abstract concepts. Everything also has retarded donutsteel names that make it impossible to easily understand what anything is because GW would rather alienate consumers than not own the trademarks for everything they produce.

It's especially egregious since they had such an obvious way to establish the society of Sigmar's realm. Have them be survivors lead by Sigmar himself during the end times lead to a new homeland after the Old World was destroyed. Absolutely wrecking EVERYTHING was rather a waste considering the more heroic fantasy setup they were trying to do with Age of Sigmar.

*Sphess Muhreens also have the benefit of being more culturally diverse/varied than the Sigmarines, who are LITERALLY supposed to be warriors all over the world reincarnated.

Invaded Hochland in a series of pillaging whatever I pleased in the Empire. This one showcases 2 armies against army+garrison.

First army is the Kholeck gate-buster. Marauders and huskarls (chaos divided mod).Huskarls are a little more expensive but not as good as warriors. Main thing of this army is Kholeck, 2 Shaggy's, 5 Dragon Ogres to punch the door and meatgrind.

Simply put, on Normal and Hard I can toy with my enemy, I can afford to have starter units in my army with Empire and fight Vampires and Greenskins and Chaos and feel more epic. Jokes aside I feel as if all my multiplayer victories were because of the glorious outrider. Cavalry is their strong suit for sure, as their standard infantry can hardly stand against shit like VC monsters or a good bit of the chaos line up. I'm also a big fan of the steam tank. Something I'd like to see is Athel Loren as the only settlement of the wood elves, other provinces are joined to it when they get captured by wood elves and are forested over. But I don't think any major map changes will happen like that, so who knows.
I imagine skaven settlements are just going to be Dwarf/Greenskin holds. They might get something like a unique siege mechanic where they can have the opportunity deploy inside the walls, but have to stream in reinforcements rather than deploying everything at once, to represent how they're pretty much everywhere and can come up beneath you if they want to.

Spears/Swords vs Halberds/GS is basically the same issue

You trade out shields and cheaper cost for armor piercing and more damage

That being said there was some sort of issue with Halberds and their attack speed, I think its the slowest in the game (where as all other units in the game have the same attack speed except cav units who are slow as well)

I might do a test and see if they are actually better units overall.

I'm probably going to try and do a siege battle as orks against Dawi. Dawi have really high armor on all their units and I haven't used Orcs as much as I should have.

To note; I used chaos in a custom battle siege and 4 of their chaos flame artillery cannons could only take down 1 enemy siege battle tower before they all got taken out. Is this working as intended? Those chaos artillery cannons are pretty pricey so it's odd as fuck that they get out performed by the basic grudge thrower of the Dawi. With those Grudge Throwers, I can usually take down 2 towers and 3 wall segments before they're destroyed.

Your infantry is the best in the game, you're supposed to just push to the walls and flood the defenders in a fight they can't possibly win. Or just use trolls/giants/spawn to take down the gates.

Giant creatures should be able to attack structures. Just sayan' and it would look cool. It would also make for a nice alternative to races that lack proper structure damaging units. This is just the fan in me, but I don't believe altering a giant creature's structure damage so that they aren't over powered wouldn't be much of an issue to the dev team.

Hellcanons aren't supposed to in the army at all actually. The secret is to take that 1200 and put it somewhere else (marauder screen, spawn, missile cav, trolls, etc.) Hellcanon will never kill enough to pay for itself and it takes a few of them together a while to break a wall.

Giants and large monsters should be able to attack walls and towers.

Would be cool if spider riders could climb walls but too hard to implement i guess.

After spending 300 hours in Attila recently (bought it on release, been buying all the DLCs as they came out [I always do that with TW games, I know I'm cancerous]) but never spent more than 10 hours on it.

After playing through GC, The Last Roman and AoC I think it might be my all-time favourite TW game ever released.

There's more diversity than people think, campaign mechanics are great in my opinion; the whole relgion thing is more than just a flavor (even if there's some OP religions), they absolutely NAILED diversity with Empire of Sands factions, having Kingdoms emerging by playing AoC was awesome - I wish it had a tad better budget - imagine how awesome it would be if it was a stand-alone exp pack like FOTS.

All in all, the most enjoyable TW since Medieval 2 to me and my all-time fav.

Could be awesome with Ancient Empires mod.

Why do people hate on Rome 2 as it is currently with all the DLCs tho? I mean, it is kind of a more laid-back, less featured, more forgiving Attila in a comfy setting with much diversity.

I don't see people hating on Warhammer, where they basically stripped Attila features and divided it among certain factions to make them play diverse.

Food for thoughts.

I wish Medieval 3 with Attila mechanics but much imrpoved got released.

Warhammer is either slightly better or slightly worse than other titles in different areas but is overall unoffensive.

Atilla has the terrible optimization, arguably annoying sanitation and public order fuckery, and the setting is arguably politically and culturally boring.
Attila is still great but there are those significant pitfalls. Some people care about them more than others.
I feel that Warhammer doesn't have any one pitfall as close to those Attila has.

There needs to be a balance.
One general per army is great to better flesh out characters. It also somewhat disallows early game general spam which is one of the things that took me out of the game more than anything else. It also makes it slightly more annoying to game the auto-resolve calculator with a ton of units which is good.

Outside of that you lose neat promotion events and more realistic troop movements.
But losing the latter is positive as well I feel. Simply because the way troop movements have progressed.
Imagine Warhammer where your reinforcements can be fairly easily converted to rebels/enemy units.
It'd make the Norscans look reasonable.

Which is the best generic melee infantry? Are Savage Orcs good enough in combat to make up for their lack of armor? Is it worth caring about bow units? Is the Arachnorok better than a Giant? Should you just completely steer clear of goblin units?

Taking more than one magic user is illadvised as of now. Unless you're doing light or death assassination cheese. I feel the gobbo buffs and debuffs are the best you can get out of orc magic.
Savage orcs I think were preffered for their higher than normal leadership but I think they were just nerfed in that department.
So just big 'uns I guess.
Some people care about the gobbos poison arrows, some don't. The doom diver is their better artillery choice and pretty damn good compared to other races as well.
