Select the quest battle (on the map or through quest log)
There's a button in the bottom right of the quest battle window that you can use to teleport for 5k gold (when the battle's finished you're automatically teleported back to your original position)

Did the last patch fuck up attacker/defender positions on field battles? Every fucking time I'm defending it gives me the low ground and my reinforcements, for some retarded fucking reason, always come in near the enemy.

Damn Bretonnia is actually fun, i have started a new campaign using that mod by Prater, and it is way more fun than i was expecting.

First battle against 3 total armies with my single army of 16 units, it was pretty intense.

Leon Luencour is a beast too, he was able to solo 300 men and still had over half health at level 1.

Is it just me or is this hands down the hardest tw game? I'm used to playing on hard / very hard in Attila and most of the previous titles but I can't seem to manage it in this game. Skaeling really need to be nerfed imo. Can anyone give me some tips to play as empire? I've tried like 7 campaigns as them and always end up restarting before turn 100 rolls around because I'll be doing well then completely fall apart in like 3 turns.

Also how fast should I be expanding? I rarely have more than 3privinces under control by turn 60.

It seems to me that CA has been on a "muh artistic vision" bent since Warscape first came on to the scene. Campaign is a bit tricky, since they're supposed to start off in the forests surrounding Bretonnia/the Empire. I think they might have mobile settlements like Chaos, only with more of an emphasis of said encampments being hidden deep in forests.

Firstly yes they will be pretty close to chaos as they were in the same faction at one point and serve the same gods.

Whats different? Firstly I expect they should be able to access parts of the forests no one else can. This is from the lore of the Beast Trails which should also lead to increased campaign movement over other factions. Another trait is that they should be experts at laying ambushes and have many (if not all) units with vanguard deployment. All their units will pretty much have frenzy and have really high charge bonuses (mess with the bull, get the horns). Should have higher health pools in lieu of armor compared to WoC.

There will be overlap. They are a horde. They are war-like, they will have even less diplomatic options than chaos likely. Gotta keep stomping to keep the gits in line. And will probably also use Favor as currency.

Why play them? High-speed and reckless rampages with sneaky ambushes with access to missile options, ridiculous monsters and monsterous infantry. Where WoC are like Gauls, Beastmen will be more like Suebi.

Daemons would be an army of extremes I would think. They don't really have 'basic' units that align with Empire Swordsmen or Orc Boys.

You could have huge horde units like Nurgle's nurglings and plague bearers, and Khorne's smaller, melee specialized bloodletters or Tzeentch's ranged flamers and horrors.

Whenever Chaos appears in the lore though, it's usually with gargantuan hosts of daemons, who are all usually super humanly powerful, which I don't think makes for good game balance.

Bloodletters of Khorne: Pretty tough, hit hard and accurately

Horrors of Tzeentch: Pretty mediocre in combat, but each unit also acts as a low level wizard. No idea how they're gonna represent this in this game, if I had to guess then I would bet on them just making them a missile unit like Rage of The Dark Gods did.

Plaguebearers of Nurgle: Real tough guys, hit decently hard and have poisoned attacks, slow, can be upgraded to have regeneration.

Daemonettes of Slaanesh: Real fast for infantry, armor piecing attacks, demon tits.

Wow, it's fucking nothing. Bombardment and vortex spells are just enormous amounts of shit in vanilla which makes wizards buff machines with OP buffs. Molay's strikes a good balance that makes magic very useful but never outright broken, though bombardment hit detection still needs work.

I just wish Molay's mod didn't make artifacts so fucking bonkers.

Honestly, I feel both are better than vanilla, but that's not saying much. Radious is cheap trash but it knows it, so it tries to be the best cheap trash available, and it's certainly enjoyable, if cartoony. If it's just game you're after, Radious gives both you and the AI tons of money and units and let's you go crazy.

Divide Et Impera is that pretentious dude who tries to sound really deep but fails. Despite it being a "realistic" mod, and forcing you to pay deeply for your army (fucking 1700 for a single Equites are you kidding?), the same doesn't seem to apply to the AI. It's still pigshit dumb, but even small 1-city factions with little trade seem to be able to get enough economy going to sustain a full stack army + garrison, meaning every single fucking town pretty much requires two stacks to take it, which means there's no such thing as Divide and Conquer, because everything's so fucking expensive compared to the enemy's shit you'll seldomly be able to fight a war on two fronts.

I'm trying to learn how to play TW by playing Rome 2 before deciding to buy Warhammer or not. I'm so fucking bad, I can't even beat the prologue. I cast Golden Hounds on two unit of spearmen the other day and it got them both to 2500 hp, so it took half their hp. I think that's pretty good.

There's a guy named PartyElite that does tutorial videos for Warhammer which should translate well to most Total War games, everything from camera movement to morale etc.

good stuff anon, that strategy does work for legendary difficulty too.

another general hint for total war is look at the unit cards and make sure everythings engaged. nothing worse than 3 of your finest melee units standing spitting distance from the enemy midway through the fight and they do nothing.

also use bottlenecks in no warhammer defences because your melee troups won't rout for yonks and you can just have sets of 2, so by the time the enemy gets to your final bastion of general+his actual elite troops. all the enemy are exhausted and do naught.

also forests and high ground, never charge up a hill at enemies up top. it goes poorly. bait them down with range or go around the hill

also heres some proof it works anon. just did q quick legendary skirmish with mirrored armies.

Not even that but the engine itself was a shit fight because of unit clipping and blobbing so they had to patch in a fake kind of unit collision by just making the models like two magnets bumping off each other and sliding around the screen.

If you look at Rome 1 a Phalanx would actually act like a solid battle line and so, the colour scheme and engine made it feel like two distinct armies were fighting each other model to model you could zoom in and watch the winner pushing the loser back and their men being cut down, only after a while or a good rear charge would you see them break and run. Rome 2 was weird, infantry blob together with similar colours, a cavalry charge would just blog in and make a bigger blog, there was no personality to the fights, I can see how this would seem confusing to someone new to the series not being able to tell wtf is going on/wrong.

You can sort of weasel out of the argument by declaring that every unit fills a different niche on the field so every unit actually matters. Then you remember that you just need yari ashigaru.

So I want to run a Chaos VH campaign. Anyone got any suggestions as to mods etc?

Does Radious actually work well with chaos?

Secondly, when I've played chaos before on hard, took me fucking ages and was a really boring game as got ground down and had so low unit replenishment. Any suggestions to overcome this? I know I'm probably missing something obvious.

Hero units have increase regeneration for armies they are attached to, its on the bottom row of skills.

Don't spend too much time in Norsca. Stack +sack followers. Always get the +horde growth skill. Have many hordes (at least 3). Just merge and recruit new units if it takes too many turns to replenish (replenishment is higher in corrupted lands). Cycle hordes on the front so some are doing stuff and some are replenishing. Let the newest horde raze settlements after a good one has sacked them. Having an income deficit is not bad, it's actually a good sign as soon as you have a large money reserve.

I remember that from my otomo campaign I never ended up finishing. Matchlocks have quite a bit lower range than bows. Their slow reload also means they get picked off by the archers relatively fast.

They're fucking beasts when defending castle walls though.

A Varghulf kills most heroes and lords one on one. It can also deal some disgusting damage to armored units, you just need to pick the engagements carefully.

You can win the battle by anticipating the enemy's movements and plan, you can prepare to strike where he is unprepared and he won't be able to move to close the gap quickly.
It's a whole different kind of strategy game, but I honestly prefer it. Being able to out-APM the opponent is nice, but being able to outsmart him is amazing.

I can see what they mean but I'm totally on the other side of the fence on that, the bright colors had a purpose on the field and make units in the game really stand out, I took a bunch of screens in Empire but now I'm going around R2 and I keep being dissatisfied about the contrast of colors so I never take any, I'm guessing Attila will be even worse. S2 didn't have this problem but I don't have it installed atm.
