I have a degree at the Pontus University of War. My degree is in advanced hammer and anvil tactics. If you can't see how that makes me a better general than you, let me spell it out. Don't get too ANTIUCkd up now ;).

The very best fighting is done with fresh shock cavalryman. Fresh lances. Fresh horses. Let me ask you- where do horses breed? Where are lances made? Where do men train? Where is armour made? In the foundries. In the fire. under the watch of a skilled general. They are effected by the stregist and, therefore, so is the eventual killing poterntial of the cavalryman. Have you ever charged into a unit and it held firm? That has never happened to me. I can identify firm infantry just by looking at a formation because I have studied the effects of morale for my entire life. I can identify over 90 kinds of military training programs in academies and colleges. I can virtually guarentee that the majority of you are charging pikeman which have 'spear wall', a deadly tactic from the times of great Makedonian Cuckening that causes pikeman to take on 'defensible formations'. You don't understand war so you can't identify it, and your heavy cavalry tactics work like fucking shit as a result.

So go ahead. Tell us again how Hammer and Anvil isn't the best tactic for fighting wars. Throw another mediocre light cavalry in that stack; Toss another horse archer into your formation. Meanwhile I will be using the highest quality lancers from the worlds best training facilities.

Oh, and I work for a major mercenary company identifying formations for their charges. So I get paid handsomely. So nobody on this forum has any dirt on me. I could buy and sell pretty much everyone here because of the way my trve vnderstanding of strategy effects my battles.

Has anyone tested out the Chosen units since the patch?

Im not sure it is a bug but they are unbreakable, i tried them against greatswords and their morale never broke even at 3 men which caused them to then beat the greatswords.

Same for Chosen with halberds vs Demigryphs, the chosen won because they could not be broken.

Is this a bug it does not state they are immune to psychology or unbreakable.

This. Motherfuckers out there today actually think that a sword can pierce through plate armor. This never happens, the human framce cannot generate enough force to allow this to happen. You either had to use a polaxe or some other two-handed affair like a halberd to be able to get enough power into a point to break through.

Since were on the subject, I also hate how bow and arrows are treated as just medieval guns. There's a reason you switched to primitive shitty muskets instead of bows because the actual kninetic force of gunpowder weapons are incredible to what you can get from bows.

look at their morale stat during battle to see whats giving buffs and debuffs to it, I just tried (with some pretty uncooperative ai) some chosen match ups and halberds seem to beat halberd gryphs, gw beat greatswords and regular chosen v greatswords is unsure yet (1 general died so that caused a rout)

However, their low armour-piercing damage means that they are not that effective against tough infantry, which is all that dwarves are. They can against high-tier dwarves by cycle-charging, but it's close and that's not always possible.

They also cost 1700 in multiplayer, which is a whole lot.

It won't export the changes to binary with BOB. BOB fails to launch but leaves frozen processes in task manager.

And just for example - I just uninstalled the assembly kit entirely, deleted any remnant files that got left in the game's directory, and reinstalled a completely fresh assembly kit.

It was the era of getting shot no matter what you did, so it´s pretty normal that you take casualties. Specially if you´re outnumbered.

We can´t tell you much more without knowing how the map and the army composition was.

In general, numerical advantage is a HUGE thing in this time period. Battles are won by having more guys shooting than the enemy. Spread your lines (one line formations shoot best, two line formations shoot best while not taking fucking forever to turn and they also form a square faster, should enemy cavalry show up for a charge), flank, try to get the first volley (aka wait for them to get in range, standing and shooting is faster than stopping the march, standing and shooting). Terrain elevation is a very big advantage.

The key to win these battles with minimum casualties is to get numeric advantage. You might be outnumbered, but still you can achieve local advantage through maneuvering (ex.: some troops hidden at the border of a forest hold off a bigger number of enemies on open terrain while the bulk of your army takes care of an enemy flank).

That, and proper unit composition, of course. Most of the time you want mostly line infantry, but some cavalry is really important and a couple units of skirmishers (less men = less guns = destroyed by line infantry, but more range = can kite and can hide in forests = can murderize units before anyone knows what´s going on), because their range is just what you need to dislodge enemy units that have taken an advantageous position and will destroy you if you try a direct assault (like at the top of a high and steep hill). Either they leave or they´ll be picked off by the skirmishers without being able to fight back.

Some artillery is also pretty nice, but don´t overdo it. It´s too expensive and vulnerable for quick battles, though it´ll shred the enemy if the battle stalls.

That's because unlike in Attila, Embarked Land Units in R2 doesn't get Seasickness penalty. This means navy are useless - why create fleets if you can insta-fleet moving an army to the sea. Transports always have bigger numbers than dedicated naval units

I wanna start a vampire campaign, should I install the Conquer everywhere mod or does it fuck up?

In my Empire campaign the Greenskins declared war on me after conquering all orc & dwarf lands and every 5 turns they appear with 10-12 stacks at the vampire lands to raze shit and there's hardly anything I can do about it

This is why I'm considering that mod, so I can cap some of those mountainous dwarf cities and defend myself if the same thing happens this time

There is a positive effect for allies of allies (as in B will like you because they are friends with C and you are friends with C)

You could attempt to give them both massive gifts and get every trade/diplomatic agreement possible with each, and hope the amount of positive relation between you and them is enough for both of them to stop war

I use zombies and skellies to flank and surround them.

Basically, attack in a broad front, hold down the right mouse to set a wide formation for your zombies/skellies. They will hit your line and start chopping you up... have the ones that aren't in combat keep walking for a bit, then move behind them and charge!

This takes patience. Your zombos will take forever pacing behind them, during which hairy midgets will hack your people down and crossbows will shoot them, but eventually, you will be treated to the incredibly satisfying sight of an ever shrinking knot of dwarfs being surrounded by mooks and running away.

It looks like you're using mainly elites, but Dwarf elites are going to kick the shit out of yours in a fair fight. Have them hang back to fight with dwarfs that are already engaged.

Remember: Quantity has a quality all it's own.

Playing empire total war; are the peasant tier armed citizenry even worth the upkeep? In battles they seem to route at the first sign of combat. The only way to get them so do anything is to have them stand off to the side and help with a battle you'd win anyways.

Won the fight, had the orc general not suicided so early on they might have broken through my front line though.

Organ guns got 140 kills each, cannon 120 and flame cannon 100. Pretty good considering most fights with them where you dont use this type of formation they spend most of the time wanking around unable to fire. Was even able to use my flame cannons to fire into the mass of troops which gave them most of their kills

I tried that too, but the problem is the unit then blocks the cannon and the cannon cant do anything, and the AI will always go for the cannon if it can. This way actually works pretty well in that you can keep shooting regardless of what the AI does as long as your front stays up and your rear is protected.

Empire did a way better job at it though which is odd.

They have so much mass you pretty much need to deploy in a square to stop them, or use heavy cav. Sandwiching them between two units when they're slowed down also works. They don't do too much damage to troops with heavy armor though, so they're not a top priority as long as you keep them away from your missiles and stuff.

I wonder what the campaign packs are gonna add, it doesn't sound like the expansions or new land. But it says it will add new challenge campaign, what could this mean?

I hope they start pumping DLC out soon, even a lord pack would be nice, as it provides a new way to play a faction, and it also sounds like these packs are exclusive to the FLC.

Just like in the empire, for a long time it was highly debateable whether an early handgun was better than a crossbow (or even a longbow)

A proper heavy crossbow that you have to use a crank to cock, firing a shaped bolt with some wax on the end, was almost as effective at armor piercing, but with a far longer effective range, took about the same time to load, and couldn't blow up by accident.

Longbow was somewhat less good at armor piercing but much faster rate of fire and longer range than either crossbow or handgun (but took far more training to use effectively).

The pre-renaissance "tube on a stick" handgonne was so shit it was literally a novelty more useful for frightening enemy peasants and horses than actually causing damage.

The real reason everybody in Europe rushed for pistols and handguns when they were still more expensive and less effective than crossbows is literally just because everybody (from the military aristocracy to the rank and file) thought they were cool.

They did improve a good deal by the mid-17th century (thirty years war) and also became cheaper, but it wasn't until the flintlock (no longer required musketeers to carry a burning salt peter rope around his neck) and the socket bayonet (no longer had to cower behind pikemen) that guns became definitively the shit

The unique Lord that the Border Princes have (the Captain of the Borderguard) has the option of getting a pretty significant damage bonus vs. Greenskins for their army at level 10. Combo this with the Shieldbearer's massive anti-large boost and the range boost I've dumped on the archers, and the Giants are the least significant threat on the battlefield.

Eben's brother Leopold was spain by Greenskin assassins loyal to Azag's WAAAGH!, it's good to find some retribution.

Luminark has been buffed, so it's useful for sniping lords and monsters now. It was bed before though. Hellblaster was buffed too, so it's worth it against armored enemies. It will murder Black Orcs and Armored Chaos troops. Mortars are versatile, while rockets do more damage. Cannons might be worth it or not, depending on your playstyle.

not this battle, but here is how I easily beat Archaon and his lackeys stack with just manny
