I am level 53 and I never got the toxic people or the genji/hanzo instalockers though I did get a lot of mei instalockers. A lot of people I played with are open to switches also. Placement matches is cancer, this is a FACT.
You still get queued with shitters but at least these shitters still have 10% of their brain function.
At the end of those 10 matches you'd probably get placed on a rank you don't deserve.

I disagree. Level 25 is a good point of entry. It's more than enough time to familiarize yourself with the game. Shitters will be shitters at level 50 too, just slightly less shitty. I'd prefer NOT locking out sub 50 players who come from other fps games and are really good over having a slightly less amount of baddies shitting up the ~40 mmr range (which I am nowhere even close to).

The reason they don't want to use the Stopwatch format is that they don't want only comps that are about pushing as FAST as possible to be viable. They want reaching the goal to be the objective, not how fast you do it, but if there was a better solution for competitive play than Stopwatch people would've already found it.

I'm starting to think Blizzard chose entirely the wrong kind of format for this type of game.

If you need STOPWATCH in order to balance your "competitive" game, maybe your game just isn't competitively viable.

This game needs purely objective completion, not time based game mode in which both teams have more or less the same objective and the one finishing first wins. That's the only way you can make this game competitively viable, but they will never do it. Payload is, and will always be the main game mode of this game.

If you still have a 50% win rate after placement, then you plateaued and aren't getting better. I'm currently at a 70%+ winrate and have risen almost 10 ranks.

Eliminations are not kills. They are plinks. You do one damage to a dying opponent and plink them and you get an elimination. Who the fuck cares who has plinked the post people? Are you actually bragging that you've done at least 30 damage this game?

These medals generally go to frontline spammers, who are just shooting wildly at everyone all game. While this is an important role to play, the second you care about "muh gold medals" you're saying "the 200 damage you did to their Mercy right when she was about to rez the team is EXACTLY AS USEFUL as the 200 damage I did to a Reinhardt shield by chucking a grenade at it".

Right now ranked is arbitrary because it bases a rank off of team play onto a single player. If your team is bad and youre just alright, youre being unfairly punished. Vice versa, you could suck and be carried higher when your team is leagues better than you.

I think the problem was that the devs wanted to add a cyber cowboy more than make a kit for one. He doesn't feel well designed.

I love the idea of cyber, wild west gun runner, and I can make decent use of McCree, but itcs hard to push golds with him in a competent team. He does alright as a Mercy guard and a skirmisher behind a Rein shield, but there are times I feel like I'm choosing my desire to play him over choosing 76 and being more efficient. The stun grenade feels way too circumstancial compared to sustained fire, aoe heal, and the helix rocket.
