So I just played my placement matches played very well, got 7/10 wins and only 52 rating. While a friend won 6 or 5 and got 53 rating, we played the same amount of times supports and tanks with very similar stats.

How does that work?

How you rank is determined by a number of factors, not just W/L, and why is that?
So that bad players can't just get carried into high rank.
If you play with a team of 4 other players, and they're fucking great, while you're fucking shit and just getting carried, they will most likely place somewhere around 60, while you will place at 40, even if you played all your placement matches together.
It's a mix of Hero performance, objective time, objective kills, kills (counts less than objective kills), deaths, accuracy, what ranks the players on the other team are, if you win or lose, etc.

It's a fairly complex system that noones going to figure out. Jeff Kaplan even explained how it works, yet you fucking mouthbreathers somehow think it's determined by W/L only

Sit in the back, switch Harmony from target to target quickly depending on who's taking damage/has the most health/is the most useful (fuck you Symmetra Roadhog is getting shot at by three people stop calling for health and find a medkit you selfish cunt)

Learn to lead the shots, especially at longer ranges because it's where he has to play most often

Expect to die a lot, both when you first start out and when you learn to play him because as fun as he is and as much damage as he does he has no movement abilities and the lowest health in the game besides Tracer so if Winston comes up to him and shoots him there's nothing he can do besides hope he gets enough headshots to win and somehow Blizzard has seen this as acceptable

HEROES THAT NEED TO BE NERFED

- PHARAH: Her direct hit damage is TOO much and she's too hard to hit in the air for most characters. Her jetpack fuel should be greatly reduced.

- REAPER: With the McCree nerf Reaper is now the best close up damage dealer in the game. He shits on everyone close range and has no counters anymore since McSkill can no longer 1shot him with FTH before he wraithes away.

- MEI: The epitome of cancer. They need to increase the time it takes to freeze someone with her left click AS WELL as reduce the damage on her right click. You can't be a beast at close quarters with no skill required and also be able to do 50% of a squishy characters health with one right click. Also need to reduce the amount she heals for while she's invulnerable.

- BASTION: Another high cancer hero. His RoF, damage, and kit should all stay the same. The only change he needs is to not be able to swivel 360 degrees in turret form. He should be limited to a 180 degree angle or even 270 if they're feeling generous, but not 360.

- HANZO: Needs his arrow hitbox fixed, they're still enormous. They need to code a fix to his scatter arrow oneshotting literally 90% of the cast and leaving other tank toons at 10% HP.

- JUNKRAT: No skill required to participate. He needs his grenade damage AoE REDUCED at distance. Needs to reward people who aim smartly using terrain instead of spammers.

- TORBJORN: Turret damage is fine but they need to REDUCE the range at which the turret can lock on to you. It's straight up cancer playing against 2 Torbjorns on some maps because they can lock you down easily and if your team can't coordinate a counterplay you're fucked (like most pubs).

- ROADHOG: His hook needs to be fixed ASAP. One of the more gamebreaking things right now. Pulling through walls, hitscanning you from 5 feet away, etc. Broken as fuck.

That's right - his competitive usage went DOWN after Widowmaker's nerf. It went DOWN with the rise of Roadhog, whom he is strong against. The problem is not with the meta - it's with Zenyatta himself.

58 is not too shabby especially considering it's just supposed to be a beginning point and often one game can mean one rank, so you can be 55 or 60 really quickly depending on how things go.

I wouldn't brag about 58 and talk trash to people lower than you but it's definitely above average.

knockback to break up clumps of enemies, get people off of you

No system is perfect, but this one has a big flaw. If i for example, get a shitty team and we lose a game in two minutes, my stats for the match can not be recorder properly, its simply as that.

I got 4-5 silver/gold medals in all my games, 4 victories and 6 defeats. ended up 44. Wich demonstrates that W/L ratio is the most important thing.

Heck even after you get calibrated, only W/L matters.

Does anyone else really like how grey the Omnic Crisis and its effect on people has been portrayed? There are peaceful omnics, but we also have Junkrat/Roadhog's homes being taken from them and Zarya's distrust coming from a reasonable and heroically charged place. Torbjorn's, too, for the most part. I like that it's a complex issue within the universe of the game

That's a great question. It depends on how well I did, surprise surprise. Sometimes it'll take me up a whole rank. A few times where I lost, it took me down by just a little bit. One time it dropped me back down to 48, then back a whole rank to 49. It's weird. And at one win, I gained half MMR. It really varies.

My main question is, if you play reinhardt (Essentially the best tank in the game?) how do they calculate contribution? Because reinhardt gets shit for kills, damage dealt, only really gets objective time. Seems like he would be the worst character to play to raise your MMR, yet you're at a massive disadvantage if you don't have one.

How to convice hanzo/widowmakers to switch to another hero in attack ?
I tried to tell them polietly that their hero isn't very useful in this mode, most of the time I got no answer, not even a "no".

Should I go one step further and explain them that they are complain shitters and that because of them there's 90% of chance for us to lose because we're basically playing 5v6 because their hero is useless ?

It feels like quick play and there's no real incentive to want to try to win except it'll just make ur gold weapon skin grind longer when u lose a game

My ranked experience is that people make pretty good use of the shield. I only played him a handful of times, but every time someone else played him the shield was being used effectively as well.

My first placement match wasn't to bad. I didn't win but people actually communicated and picked around the team instead of instalocking genji/hanzo. I went 6-4 and by the end of my placements and a bit after wards I got the people that are willing to play support and pick around the team. That is prolly going to change though.
