>>

>>146586093
I like the guns even if they're prototypical
>>
>>146586569
But it's not even a world war 2.
>>
I/I EW anon from a thread or two ago again, still going good but i'm down to 8 remaining soldiers, it's july, about to raid the alien base once everyone gets plasma. Panic's low, EXALT continues to be fucking dicks (how often are you supposed to scan to keep cells from doing shit anyway?), and everything seems to be rolling smoothly. Cranking out firestorms with plasma cannons. Haven't got a foundry yet, would that be a good 2 or 3 day research to get? Should I focus more on armor? Are MECs worth anything? especially lategame?
>>
>>146586832
Its not remotely WW1 either, its a ww2 reskin of BF4 gameplay wise
>>
>>146586529
Sure. Strangely enough that is the only photo in my xenonauts folder. Why do I even have a folder.

>>146586554
>>146586569
It just really pisses me off that people won't accept that its not a WWI game. At least the multiplayer. You bring it up and everyone goes, "LUL, ITS a BATTELFIELD GAME ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO be realistic dummy, GO PLAY A MILSIM."
Everytime, without fail.

>>146586832
If you watch the gameplay, its effectively a WWII game.

>>146586841
MECS are very good, pick up at least one for the EMP burst vs. sectopods. Definitely get your foundry, has very good upgrades for your troops. Scan for EXALT like 7 days after a covert OP mission, I'm 99% certain about that.
>>
>>146587139
Its not like they couldn't have done something interesting with the setting and stayed fairly casual but they've just made it WW2 in regards to gunplay and vehicles
>>
>>146587139
>It just really pisses me off that people won't accept that its not a WWI game. At least the multiplayer. You bring it up and everyone goes, "LUL, ITS a BATTELFIELD GAME ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO be realistic dummy, GO PLAY A MILSIM."

Reddit had a pretty big fight on this the other day, the end result being some of them hope that there's a hardcore mode where everyone and their mother gets a bolt action.
>>
>>146586695
Xenonauts was... alright, and the psionics bait in the tech tree was mildly amusing. But everything it does, FMP open xcom does better.

Speaking of FMP, railguns are love, railguns are life.

... Really?

Have more Xenonauts].
>>
>>146587728
Just watch it, everyone has SMGs, hipfires LMGs and the ww1 tanks move like modern tanks.

Its not a joke, its just a WW2 game with WW1 models.
>>
>>146587274
While I'm glad some people are actually discussing it. I don't think its going to be a bad game, but usually I only pick up more then one title from a franchise If I think they bring something new to the table or I am really committed and love the game (Only really Dark Souls, XCOM, and the old Command and Conquers for me personally), and initially I had some hope BF1 would be something new, but those hopes have been dashed.

>>146587272
>>146587274
Also they were hyping the melee weapons as a big deal, which would make sense for some trench warfare and all the bolt actions, but now everyone is just going to be running around with "WWI" smgs and lmgs and they are going to be about as useful as swords in XCOM2.

>>146587728
Instead of bolt actions they have smgs and lmg galore with semi-auto rifle in the mix. Also tanks are there which makes no sense as they never had a big impact in WWI whatsoever. So the gunplay defaults to WWII and decidedly not WWI. Thanks, I do like the concept are they have.

I could go on. They should've gone for 2143, but again, i'm scared of what they would've done to it

>>146588886
It's possible I'm misinformed, but I did read through one (just one, quite a while ago too) WWI textbooks and from what I remember the tanks just weren't reliable enough to make a huge impact. They broke down to easily and just weren't that effective. Changes in assault tactics and tried and true artillery bombardment paired with improved communication so infantry could assault entrenched positions immediately afterwards are what led to successful offensive operations.

Tanks were a new concept at the end of the war that didn't have time to be refined and have a big impact.

That's my understanding, but I would be happy to read up and why my perception on this might be wrong. As far as I know, all they had going for them was shock value as troops hadn't seen anything like them before.
>>
going out like a champ.
>>
>>146588886
Not him but by the time they started using them effectively the war was won. Germany was starting to starve due to the blockade and the Central powers weren't doing that great while the Entente powers had figured out effective trench warfare tactics.

Tanks had effects on a few battles but little overall impact on the war.

just going to list what i can remember in random order:
- it's set in 1979 so the flavor is a little different, more cold war esque
- civilians can have guns and that can lead to some getting out of your chair and cheering situations when you see they've killed the sectoid-equivalent alien menacing their barn
- airgame is different and a manually controlled minigame that quickly gets old in my opinion, though there is an autoresolve option
- there are shields, though they're only useful in the beginning
- you can open ufo doors when standing one tile to the left or right
- you can call airstrikes on crashed ufos instead of going to the battlescape if you can't be arsed to deal with "crash site 323"
- ufos will attack your equivalent of the skyranger, pic related

Oh sorry I wasn't paying attention. Umm, not too knowledgeable. I think Heavy's are fine to make MECs early because their aim per rank sucks, but other classes your should wait longer so they get their classes aim progression instead of the worse MEC aim per level.

Technically I think every class in vanilla is fine for a MEC.

Maybe but the BGM is nice.
>>
>>146591720
- there's a suppressive fire mechanic where a unit's bravery influenced whether they will lose TUs when shot at
- imo there's a slightly more HFY feel as (legit spoilers) the top tier weapon is human made, and humanity doesn't possess the capability for psionics, suggesting they don't need it to defeat the alien forces
- one of the alien races regens health after every round, which is really fucking annoying in early game as they're the second race you meet
- similarity to original x-com: stats are leveled up by using them, too many other things to list, it is a true spiritual successor
- similarity to the firaxis games: promotions are based on combat xp, predator armor lets you walk through walls, god i fucking hate this trope

overall, i played it when it came out and never finished it. something about it just didn't hold my interest as well as open x-com. i wish i could pin down why.

this comic is a joke about how there's too many aliens on the first mission for the size of the ship.

>>146591720
oh, forgot some things:
- start with 8 soldiers, max skyranger upgrade is 12
- there's a full cover system
- different weapons have different reaction fire penalties/bonuses, shotguns have a bonus whereas sniper rifles have a penalty
- you can end missions by securing the ufo (staying in it for 5 turns), meaning you don't have to hunt that last fucker in a closet

i'm sure i'll think of some other things too
>>
>>146595818
>you can end missions by securing the ufo
That's nice. Perosnally I'm a fan of new XCOM's visual/audio wave cues since they apply to every mission. Really wish they would mod that into openxcom somehow.

>>146597050
i would certainly recommend it for 10 bucks. consulting steamdb, that's the lowest it's been.

two possible implementations of the sound indicator that i can see:
1) firaxis style, you get a popup of what direction the nearest(?) alien is in after 2-3 (configurable) turns without alien contact

2) after possibly every enemy turn, display a visual cue of any aliens that just moved and are within the sound detection radius of a soldier. i guess i would center the camera on the soldier that can best hear the unit, display the cue, then move to the next soldier, etc.

in either option, i think cues should be able to be toggled on or off the screen with a hotkey. i wasn't too fond of how the alien or meld cues would disappear in the firaxis games given how often they seized your camera, sometimes you didn't get it back in time to get a good look at the direction they were pointing.

will try #1 first as it seems simpler to implement.

>>146597365
probably would recommend. remember that aliens can shoot down at you through the grav lifts.
>>
>>146599264
Yeah number 1 sounds best. A toggle would be fantastic too.

Those anons are being dumb. You want to satellite rush. Go for engineers at every opportunity, building sats and sat uplinks and interceptors for satellited areas. You want as many sats as fast as possible. This gives you shitloads of income, scientists, and engineers, getting your endgame snowball rolling faster. While you satellite rush, rush lasers for everyone, ignoring everything else. This ensures your firepower is adequate for any situation. After that, get your interceptors upgraded, then armor. You should be pretty set after that.

"No"
At everything but air to air it's strictly superior to every combat plane to ever compete with it. It can look literally through the cockpit in every direction, share radar and data from multiple sources, feed targeting information to 4th gen fighters using them as missile boats, has better passive sensors than the F-22, a single engine which is more reliable than two (read up on f-16 vs f-15 engine reliability), and a slew of other features to go alongside those.

But one said to choose countries with high panic. That's not how sat rushing works. You need the engineers to build sats to actively reduce panic instead of relying on random missions. The aim should be 2 to 4 sats per month, not 1 per month. Sats should be saved for panicking countries until the end of the month, but launched right before the council report to maximize your snowball, even if there are no high panic countries.

>WASHINGTON — Software glitches have plagued the F-35 in recent months, but operators said they noticed a marked improvement during a June deployment where the aircraft did not experience any shutdowns.

>The F-35 joint program office’s top official disclosed in April that the fighter jet was struggling with problems associated with the 3i software planned for use when the Air Force fields the planes later this year. Pilots reported that they had trouble booting up their jets, and would have to restart key systems on the plane every three to four hours after sensors shut off without warning.

Maybe I just have bad reading comprehension. But I'm not sure why this is supposed to impress me.
>>
>>146607104
Its a good thing in real life the opposing force will always be on an even footing and won't be using anything it can get for an advantage, that would be unsportsmanlike. I can't even find the ROE for the exercise where the kills were scored and what I can find is contradictory from air forces and pilots trying to sound good.

>>146607306

>>
>>146607934
It doesn't matter how strong your jamming, detection and EW is if the opposing forces EW platform is strong enough (which for the main Nato allies it is) to let them get within the range your aircraft is not built for.
>>
>>146607805
Your comprehension is poor. In your quote it makes it appear as though problems present in april were solved by june.
>"where the aircraft did not experience any shutdowns"
>>146607830
But the enemy -can't- use those advantages because objectively the F-35 has a more advanced sensor suite.

And Pierre Sprey and his ilk aren't the only people at the Pentagon.

Also
>the media is wrong except when it supports me
The only "support" i pulled from that was a list of statistics from an exercise that showed zero (0) electronics or systems failures

That's a pretty ridiculous statement. History is anything but predictable. People have predicted multiple times that large scale conflicts are impossible/can't happen/won't happen in the near future, and then they are wrong every-time.

Its not just that large scale conflicts are impossible, its that NATO (and mostly America's) arsenal is so far ahead of anything else that you can safely rule out needing to spend 1.5 trillion dollars on a new multirole fighter program.
>>
>>146610289
See, that's what you'd think, but it's not just code, it's code integrated into a complex machine. So not only do you have to test the code itself, you've also got try it out once you think it's ready to discover any more problems that need to be fixed. If it was just a program, sure, but it's a program integrated into a gigantically convoluted machine

>>
>>146610664
Thank you for explaining my job to me. Once again, that type of bug should not be occurring this late into the development cycle especially not with the standard of coders that you would expect to be working on it.

>>146610776
What propelled the USA so far ahead was the aftermath of the 2 world wars and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
>>
>>146610881
I find it funny that you claim the aftermath of wars caused the disparity. Namely because it did, but it enabled the USA to spend those trillions on defense programs that nobody else could. Which is in turn what kept them ahead of the rest of the world. So I think we're both right on that one.

Also, you can say it's your job all day, but it's clearly a bug that wasn't found during software testing before integration into the airframe. There's no way around it, it had to be found when actually trialling the craft. I fail to see how this is a strike against the program when it was fully anticipated.

I was experimenting a bit and made it so that the default firing animation is the fanfire animation, which means that whenever you shoot it shoots 3 times really fast. Unfortunately now when you use fanfire, it just shoots 3 times, once per shot, which looks weird when you shoot 3 times with every normal shot, so you'd think fanfire would shoot 9 times, which would look equally as ridiculous.

I'm not sure if i should keep it like that or just keep the animations as normal.

The overcharged radar adds to your score for trying to shoot down a craft attempting to assault your base.

Also, there's a button to see what kind of ship your currently tailing with your craft. Its in the dog fight menu. Click on that to get an idea of what kind it is. Government ships literally are police colors, so red and blue.

Yeah, the art style is really aseptic except for backgrounds used in the base which I really liked. (It was also really cool how the base background art changed as your tech level progressed. I'll post an example.) It's too bad the battlescape sprites are so.. meh.

It sounds pretentious to say I didn't like a game because of the art style, and that wasn't the only reason, but it sure helped. I guess the cheesy 90s pixel art of OpenX-Com made me forgive it more. OpenX-Com seems to be a vibrant, alive world, while Xenonauts comes across really gritty with no joy at all. Which, hey, is realistic in the event of an alien invasion, but it doesn't make for the most engaging fun game experience.

Actually, with the beam weapon animations it wouldn't even be noticeable since they don't have recoil, but right now i'm using the mag pistol animation since that does have recoil and i think it looks cooler that way.

>>
>>146657973
Explosives are actually probably the worst way of dealing with lids despite what the autopsy report would have you believe. They have good all round armour including the underside which explosives are calculated against, shit underside armour being the main reason explosives wreck things in og xcom.

They're not actually resistant to gauss or laser either they just have stronk armour that blocks a lot of the damage. Not like cyberdisks and their 0.8 modifier on AP damage before armour kicks in.

>>146658861
It's a pretty common trick used in crit calculation systems. WoW uses it too and it used to sometimes result in situations where tanks could have only a 1% chance to be hit by bosses but if it was a hit it would always crit, oneshotting them
>>
>>146658965
Sure it's a common trick, but why? It doesn't make sense to me. I understand that rolling one number and checking that against both the crit and hit numbers is the mechanism, but why do it like that?
>>
>>146659080
God knows, in the case of a game like WoW where a hell of a lot of shit is happening all the time it probably saves a decent of processing but I have no idea why it'd be used in xcom. Maybe something of a throwback to old tabletop games where you auto crit on a 20 no matter if the only way you could even hit them was on a 20 too.
>>

Evacing when you hit resistance you know you aren't ready for is a pretty standard tactic. The game doesn't expect you to win every fight, and the monthly score means its pretty easy to skip out on missions and still do well.
>>
>>146668538
Skipping terror missions in FMP has serious repercusion, skipping two of those can easily mean a game over.
>>
>>146668657
Hmmm, I don't ever remember that being an issue. You can always go and immediately evac as well. I guess its possible they changed how it works but I never noticed it.

A terror mission against Osiron and the Academy got dicey, and before that I had an unfortunate landing against the Guild with my ramp pointed at two guys waiting to snipe me, also next to a house with two Guildies inside.
>>
>>146692998
No I understand how cool turrets are, but you need to counter the doom ticker and the foundry is still more of a priority, so if he's seeing his first MEC, I just doubt he has defense matrix. I know I wouldn't.

That said yes, defense matrix is awesome. I had only on base defense, but it was completely trivialized by four turrets that fire twice a turn with good damage and decent aim absolutely destroying everything.

Definitely its just for gameplay clarity. When dealing with square tiles, your gonna mold your terrain so its easy to look and now how the map and cover will work. Thus, boxes, squares, rectangles etc. will be the standard for how you lay out pieces.

So in OpenXcom when should i assault an alien base
>>
>>146696386
Depends on what kinds of alien base it is. Floaters are the easiest target. Snakemen are next I think, even with lids. Then mutons, then sectoids, then ethereals.

Floaters can be assaulted with just laser weapons imo. Snakeman you probably want plasma to efficiently kill lids, same for mutons. Sectoids and Ethereals have psi bs, so they make for very tough fights.

Also remember that you need to capture an alien commander at some point in your campaign and every base has one. If you get a favorable base, like floaters, try to capture a commander and not destroy the base until you do.
The easiest time is obviously with psi since that completely breaks game balance in your favor.

Tau are the only race with Eldars to have functioning high-tech shit that wont blow up their faces (i'm thinking plasma guns, among others)
That's a pretty good sign IMO
>>
>>146710391
>40k plasma
It still amuses me to this day how little of a shit most factions give about their foot soldiers that they're willing to give them guns that explode in their face on 1/6 shots. I know that's just tabletop rules exaggerating it but it's still funny.
>>
>>146710652
Well it IS grimdark after all
Also this isn't the only shit that you can use and that will maybe kill you
It does involve warp majiks on most cases though
Also plasma gun on a Space marine is rather safe, but giving one to a cadian is begging to lose it

>>
>>146711381
You don't have to do the mission, there's no penalty for not doing it. It's just an opportunity. Why anyone would ever do it is beyond me. I'm going to cheat and see if there's any fantastic loot to be had, but unless it's a blaster launcher I'm going to reload the geoscape save with no regrets.

Who the fuck thought this was a good idea?
>>
>>146711227
I did that mission only once, cheated with ctrl+d debug mode to see where the last panic fucker was hiding.

Clearing the mission is entirely optional though and the rewards are quite generous, several million worth of items on the one time I did it.

Not doing it again though, it's too tedious to clear and I don't like risking month long healing due to no armor for what is essentially chump change from picking up crap.

There are treasure chests on the map, it would be worthwhile if I knew where they spawned.

Because the Eldar are the ones covering themselves in ying yang symbols, flipping around with katana looking swords, big samurai like hats with plumes and samurai looking coats. Not to mention that they are the ones with giant anime looking robots with swords.

I was half kidding though, because the Eldar aesthetic pulls things from a lot of different cultures, but i would argue that at least in terms of aesthetics, they are far more japanesy than the Tau.

In EU if I have satellites left but no country panic in should I still deploy satellites or wait for next month?
>>
>>146749739
Yes, try to get continent bonuses too

In EW is it a valid strategy on Classic to just farm for meld/wait for research/gain XP isntead of advancing the story?

I've done that on normal before, wait till I have all top level soldiers before the alien base, then wait for my soldiers to have the psi-powers all unlocked before constructing the gallop chamber.

If it works on classic EW, would it still work on LW on normal?
>>
>>146750216
You can farm resources and such however long you want in EW, aliens don't get stronger. In long war, the campaign is so long you don't really have to farm stuff, but alien research will eventually make the aliens more and more powerful.
>>
>>146750405
After I capture a sectoid commander and then deal with Ethereals, is there any reason to continue the story unless I've got endgame soldiers? Because that was my plan and I already had endgame armor/wepaons. I was just waiting for more meld for gene mods and to level up psi powesr
>>
>>146750216
In vanilla delaying story research until after plasma is the go-to strategy for any difficulty.

In LW the ayy growth has nothing to do with your research so you just want to do what helps you most. If you want to hamper alien growth you need to intercept their UFOs (which do missions even in countries without satellites) and take their bases.
>>
>>146750532
No reason beyond boredom. You don't really need everything maxed to stomp through the final mission. Max-rank soldiers with plasma trivialize it, ghost armor trivializes it even more, genemods don't even figure in.

It's pretty insidious. It appears that way, but it's not called Long War for nothing. The campaign is FAR longer than EU. Like, 150+ real life hour campaigns happen regularly.
>>
>>146756685
I'm just worried about actually losing all progress. I have no issues if I lose 90% of soldiers and have rookies and cvan barely afford a laser pistol.

But I just don't want to be playing for 40 hours and then get told "oh you lose".
>>
>>146756867
Be aggressive with the story missions and weapons research. Those two things, alongside aerospace research for firestorms when the time comes to get the overseer ufo, drive the entire game. Satellites, as ever, are critical.

It's not as easy as it sounds, the more countries the aliens take, the more research and resources they get. It's very easy to end up in a snowballing situation where you can't touch their UFOs and every mission has a brutal amount of enemies.

Eventually if you can't pressure them anymore they can just take one country a month regardless of panic too

Both. The promotion bar above the soldier when you select them for missions or in after-action reports won't go away, the promote soldier icon in the armory is lit up, and the icon in the bottom left in the icon has a cluster of soldiers all claiming they need to be promoted.

But the thing is, I DID promote them. Repeatedly. I even used a cheat to rank them up as an experiment and all it did was make the list bigger. I'm completely baffled.

but yeah I'm using the one that can run xcom 2 by itself and can detect conflicts most of the time. It says everything is fine and yet clearly something screwy is going on.

Also somehow I can unlock psi operatives without a psi lap, just by promoting them from rookie? I'm guessing it's related to this promotion issue.

>>
>>146818906
I like the luck mechanic and cards a little but the combat is meh. Every shot (played on standard difficulty) feels weirdly easy or weirdly hard. Lack of a decent overwatch-like ability is pissing me off.

The game is trying so hard to make me like its characters but it can't get me as attached to them as the randos in my barracks in any given XCOM campaign

Decent, but not great. Not sure if it's worth a purchase on steam even on sale but ymmv
>>
>>146819425
Hmm, thanks for the input.

Is it an ironmeme game? i.e. no manual saving? I see people bitching in the steam reviews.

>* I read up quite thoroughly before buying, but saw no mention of the campaign system; basically the game is split up into chapters that you can replay endlessly, and NOTHING you do persists between runs (except unlocking 3 signature items on a universal vendor from each chapter).
>Personally I found this massively disappointing, as it really removed any sense of role-playing and gravitas from the 'story' decisions you make; there's zero weight to ANYTHING you do (aside from triggering those 3 unlocks), so long as you can make it through the mandatory battles.
>This also (for me at least) detracts from the 'poker hand' system of character upgrade cards; you only get so many in a run-through - mostly random - so you can't count on any kind of synergy, and by the time you might assemble a 'hand' anyway you'll likely only get to play it for one battle then the chapter is over & it's gone forever.
This kinda reminds me of the Invisible Inc campaign, but at least that had an endless mode where you could keep your characters.

>Silent Storm

I loved that game as a kid when it was new, spent hundreds of hours in it, although I can't act like it didn't have it's flaws. You might have trouble with it showing it's age now, though. Main dealbreakers are the long enemy turn times (multiple minutes on giant maps) and the "twist" of the plot in the last third of the game that introduces robot armor that everyone universally agrees ruins the game. Also medical and engineering skills leveling are literally broken, and stealth is indecipherable hit and miss.

It scratches a lot of the itches JA does, ridiculous voiceacting and gun porn. And deliciously destructible environments. I've repurchased it on steam and don't regret it, it's worth playing a few levels every now and then. If you do pick it up make sure to try to destroy a building with grenades and gunfire or go nuts on someone with simultaneous rifle firing squads or having your entire team unload fully automatic weapons simultaneously on someone.

I have to say your both wrong. Less "choices" or "decisions" doesn't actually lead to a more mainstream game. See all mainstream sandbox games that are so popular lately.

Also the game isn't piss easy for the average person, only 3% have completed legendary. XCOM2. Timers made the game more difficult for some. It demands efficient use of your squad and puts low-skill players in a more high pressure situation.

>>146824364
Seems a bit too high to be honest

The timers still aren't difficult unless you can't adapt from xcom 1 to xcom 2. And if you can't cope with time restraints then, uh, sucks to be you. Additionally,

>and puts low-skill players in a more high pressure situation.

So they can git gud or find themselves like the polygon reviewers, crying that games need to be made easier just for them. I want harder games, Anon, and pandering to casuals doesn't produce harder games. Just easier ones.
>>
>>146827908
>So they can git gud
That's my point. The game isn't pandering to casuals if they have to actually think about what their doing, and the campaign completion show that people aren't breezing through the game.
The "pandering to casuals" line doesn't have actual evidence to back it up. You want your harder game and that's fine, but people find X2 harder then X1 for some reason. Personally I think they aren't too different int the end.
>>
So for openxcom FMP first research rush alien containment?

Umm, you can but I'd still prioritize killing stuff intially. Capturing ayys is tough and alot easier to do when you can reliably finish missions. Also the valuable ones don't show up right away.

Also, you cannot neglect your air-game in fmp like you can in the vanilla. You need to at least be able to shoot down fighters.

Ok, I'll quit it. My error for assuming people who both a) capitalize, b) spell properly, and c) post pictures are you. Typical human error to see patterns where there are none. I'm flattered.
>I don't like that Firaxis has essentially banned his kind of fun because they can't balance around it.
I can agree with that.

I think that the attrition mod and PirateZ handle it in a much better way. Feels more organic, and the solutions can be more varied. Also, player skill can push the limits more then an unskilled player, something that straight timers do not allow.
>>
>>146835964
Yes.

>>146836000
I was the guy who posted a few days ago about wanting a mod that sent continually stronger reinforcements instead of a timer. If you were the poster that responded and suggested the combination of mods that would give me that experience, thank you.

holy shit we have hyperwave

HELLO WORLD indeed.

...certainly cost enough...
>>
>>146837217
The Hyperwave beacon is amazing in PirateZ. It just opens up the entire game because you can actually decide who you want to fight and start kitting out your squad to deal with specific factions. Honestly the game got twice as good once I reached hyperwave. Kinda wish it was a default thing to be honest.

Indeed.

I really feel the same way about the starter ships. I feel like I've wasted months in the shitbus and shitranger. now this is when the game actually begins.

Onward to commit some heresy!

Goddamn, why does every XCOM game and mod have terror missions?

Hey guys, you know what's better than an escort mission?

14 escort missions!! Isn't that FUN?!?!?!

I felt the same way about XCOM 2 as I do about these Piratez missions. I guess they've fluffed it enough to make sense, but goddamn if it isn't still annoying as fuck and makes me just want to stop playing and go to bed.
>>
>>146838030
I have ended the majority of my x-com play sessions on the spawning of a terror mission. That holds true for x-com, fmp, pirateZ, XCOM1, XCOM Long War, and XCOM2.

So yeah, I 100% understand what your saying. Still, they do get a bit better when your squad can start to roll certain factions. Eventually not every terror fight is a big struggle and the tougher fights are somewhat more enjoyable since they aren't the rule anymore.
>>
Guys, I think I've finally understood the 'ayy lmao' in it's deepest core.

It's a mockery about value dissonance on blue and orange mentality from aliens.

Human: ''Why would you do that, this violate every ounce of ethic and moral decency, you monster !''

Alien: ''AYY LMAO''

It's absurdity.

Just touch down and leave, maybe shoot a couple guys out the windows. The penalty is pretty high, but if you shoot down or rob a couple of ships you can easily make the score back. You also get decent score from researching, which helps offset any shittiness in your strategic game.

If you really hate the pogroms you can eventually stop them entirely by forming a mutant rebel army.

I got my first negative score last month so I'm going to try as hard as I can to expand and make up for it. I don't really understand why - I checked every ship in my territory over a very small, but some of them must have been in east russia, which I don't have coverage over. So I'm building that now. About 8 days left.

Also doesn't help that my last terror mission was on the railway map with the tunnel of hidden guys to my west and the many buildings of hidden shots to my east. I swear to god this game makes me yelp and bang my knee against the underside of my desk more than any other X-COM clone.

This is Future!Russia according to the Piratez universe. Apparently not even the Star Gods could completely conquer the Russian Winter.

You might have an alien base on your hands. They're -150 points per month, plus -50 when they go up. If you have church traffic, the church can also be landing shrine ships to do conversion missions, which aren't great for your score, or maybe you shot down a government vessel and/or killed government agents?

It takes a pretty bad score to actually shut you down, they'll give you a warning if you're in the shitter.

Haven't raided Gov't transports since I saw how bad they were for my score and reloaded my last save from 2 hours prevous but I did hit one civilian vessel (hey, it was accidental, they totally looked like spartans >_>) still, the score was only -32. Don't know what's going on. I know I'm not in any deep shit here, just a rather drastic change from my last monthly report.

I hope my new radar will expose any alien bases. I don't have enough napalm flasks to build a spy zeppelin, so a new base + radar is the only option I've got right now.
