The only DLC that really adds anything not in the base game are the character packs for their perk decks, Courier for the really good mods it includes, and you used to want to get one of the ones with explosives but now there's a free one of those so who cares. Just try the base game for a bit then grab DLC for any weapon types you enjoyed.

Yeah, Death wish just got a hell lot easier with the skill tree revamp but that's probably because you're not obliged to focus in only one skill tree only anymore. You can have dodge, 30% armor and inspire all in the same build and even save some spare points, back then you couldn't even think of having any of these without wasting points on useless stuff.

Everybody shit-talks Golden Grin, but I like it. If you're in the mood for a big heist (in terms of map size and how long it takes) then it's fun. If you don't like big heists, it won't be. Just be sure to watch a YouTube guide or go to the PD2 wiki to understand how it works otherwise you're going to completely ignore preplanning like 99% of the shitters out there, and then the heist will take literally 40 minutes (if you complete it at all) because you couldn't be arsed to select a better escape or to improve the massive drill.

Butcher's BBQ and Gage Mod Courier are mandatory. Sniper and Shotgun packs are nice to play around with and have some utility, even though not necessarily must-haves. Characters are fun and some of them have very nifty and useful perks, i.e. Sydney or Dragan. You should get Golden Grin for the almighty buzzer, too.

If you'd like to play stelf I'd recommend getting the snek maps since that pretty much is a singleplayer game...

Acing doubles your damage resistance. Point for point I don't think anything else in the game gives you as much durability.

Basic might be good but ace will be noticably better. Whether you actually need that boost depends on how good you are.

Frenzy health locks you at a minimum 40% damage boost if you ace berzerker. Whether you need that extra damage depends on your gun and breakpoints.

The ideal path to unlocking frenzy for minimum points is the basic tier 1 skill, aced bloodlust, and aced zerk. Unless you want to dump points into ace counterstrike for some reason.
