I'm scared shitless tbqh. I've run simulations and I really just can't find a way to do it that has consistently good results. With the previous fests I was able to run simulations and find a way to disperse my mythril to get something I could work with, here its looking like a complete crapshoot. I'm at the mercy of the jewgles on this one.

I haven't started playing it myself, but a bunch of friends irl started a small competition with it and tried pretty hard to find the strongest stuff. Early on duelists and zealots were in pretty much everyone's team, iirc, which makes sense since it's tons of damage and reliable debuffs at considerable range.
Two of them started later and made all moogle/viera teams though, so I'd say other things also work.

Judging from what I've seen in the threads, debuffing to block certain enemies and haste are definitely how most people play.

In FFXIV there actually is sort of a reason why all the playable races are human-like, because in-universe there is a stigma regarding the various "beast tribe" races of Eorzea. I'm sad I postponed some mission branches, they only use the same gear you have available so some of them become a faceroll later on.
I'm really loving the encounter diversity though, from somewhat overpowered monsters you outnumber to legitimate humans that have more or less the same ruleset it makes the game feel alive.

The combat is serviceable, though not great. The real problem people have with XIII is the atrocious immersion/worldbuilding and characters. The world of XIII is not one that I would ever want to find myself in. Every other FF has at least one or two locales which look like they'd be worth a tour. Sure some of the areas on Cocoon look pretty, but we never learn enough about them to really get interested, and what little we do learn makes them seem like bland and unpleasant places.

It's worth noting that the reason the game's a corridor is because they cut tons of side content and then recycled some of it for xiii-2. I remember being in the archylte steppe and getting treasure popups that lead to walls, meaning there used to be areas there (I had the chocobo lake and thentitan trials path open). Also all those obvious roadblocks in all the Cocoon areas, or the Ark where they didnt even place them and just had pointless, empty paths. But yeah the story was basic, the party uninteesting, the cast very small and the dialogue cringe worthy.

Now it's a matter of customizing armor and opening up the Sphere Grid with lvl 4 spheres and clear spheres.

I need help for banners family. I have 300 mythril and I want to split it between 1 and 4 only.

Banner 1 I pretty much only want one of the offensive SBs. Cecil BSB, Celes/Lightning SSB, and would settle for beatrix glove SB. Kefka's cloak is ok but its the same as edea crown and I'd take that one every time over it. The rest of the items don't really interest me all that much since I can already atk/mag debuff with agrias and have medicas out the ass.

Banner 4:
For this I'd want bartz BSB, platinum sword, yoichi bow, edea crown, apocalypse shield. Would settle for genji/defender (but I already have agrias/gilg SB, it would mostly be for the stat boost and utility). Don't really need lenna's staff and vaan's sword can fuck off.

It's local contrast. The tl;dr version is that there's this stupid meme that contrast = detail so it looks like the developers ran every texture through a high contrast filter. The problem with this is that the overall image no longer has highlights and shadows that you'd naturally get from color/lighting/etc.; instead, the gamut of values exists in every object and is spread across the image. The end result is exactly like a poorly-processed HDR photo.
