Cavs are a great class, and Paladins are probably 3rd best overall, don't get me wrong. But hidden weapons are just too good when factoring in their 1-2 range and debuffs, and Snipers get Pursuer which is broken to hell. The increased defenses don't matter much when late game lunatic enemies kill all of your units besides Generals, Xander, and Velouria in two hits regardless of class, while the increased avoid from ninja actually does help.

I think the next FE game needs to include active skills on a cooldown instead of passive RNG skills or just Rally. Let the tank classes learn a skill that allows them to take all the blows directed at their adjacent allies, on a 2 turn cooldown. This would allow strategic movement into open areas, like the stupid Birthright map with Hans and a shitton of flying enemy reinforcements. There is no other solution to turtling and sending your most powerful units out because the fliers will always be able to maneuver into a position to snipe your vulnerable units. Also, instead of letting the attack you block in Guard Stance be random, they should let you choose the attack you want to block.

Basically, the more choices you can make, the more it feels like a game about strategy. In Awakening and Fates, the bulk of the strategy is in the planning of your army. Your units, your skills, your classes. I would prefer a game where I can make important decisions on the battlefield, rather than hoping that my partner blocks the hit I wanted to block, or that my Sol activates.

It's a situational thing. Like Effie is slow but she hits like a rocket powered train, although she's still held back by her terrible movement. Odin is slow and he's on the weak side which is even worse. Laslow actually hits decently hard, but his strength isn't spectacular or anything.

Does he really? He has about the same Strength and speed as Silas, but Silas has Elbow Room, more mov, better defense and on top of that Silas can also fucking use Lances.

Laslow is comparable to Arthur, but Arthur has Axes with much more mt and more HP to pass around for being Tanky on top of being around for longer.

Hell Laslow is worse than Peri in every regard and they join together. Peri has about the same Str as he has (don't forget Elbow Room), Lances, much more speed, about the same defense and much more Resistance too. She only loses in Skill, HP, and Luck, and not by a large margin in the latter two.

Most complaints about Rinkah are that her strength is too low, which I agree with. But yeah, her tanking ability takes a hit because of it. Still, you can see how Rinkah and Charlotte differ. Even though neither will like taking big hits, Rinkah can take smaller hits and come out pretty fine. For Charlotte, even small hits for most characters will do a number to her and she ends up dying in two hits anyways.
