So I'm working on a vicky 2 mapmod, ironing out the terrain files at the moment, I've got a few options for terrain, including some spicy new top secret shit I whipped up in the lab.

Guys how does supply work in Hoi4? I was playing the obligatory Germany game, and I kept getting a lot of expeditions from the rest of the axis to the point where my eastern army had over 500 divisions alone and I kept having massive supply problems, making the battle very boring because I had just too many guys to fail but they couldn't get proper supplies to take land at anything other than a snail's pace. I won out eventually but I could never figure out how supply works in order to solve it.

the game got very boring because it was so slow until towards a certain point in between Kiev and Stalingrad where the Soviets just seemed to lose a lot of divisions so I could just take my mass of men and human wave to cities with little effective resistance.

If I were you I'd try to coup Yugoslavia and Bulgaria and then align them to Comintern. Since you're the almighty SU you can do this in a matter of 6 months. Obviously they're not that useful but the Germans will need to divert at least a few divisions to deal with them, making the job slightly easier for you.

Factories won't be profitable until you're getting through the Industry techs, but if you can afford it it's good to get craftsmen early so you get as many as possible.

You're better off encouraging intellectuals (2% per state), bureaucrats (until you have 100% efficiency in every state) and then capitalists (for those sweet bonuses + they'll start factories on their own).

As for factories, always try to get synergy bonuses (creating factories in states where the goods used by the factory are already present). A good starting combo is building a glass and liquor factory in a state with wheat (and optionally coal). The glass factory is probably going to be in bad shape until the 1890's but you'll get the money you spent in subsidies on glass back through the liquor factory, which will make mad dosh.

Another good starting factory chain is lumber mill > furniture factory. Cement factories are also profitable, specially if you have coal provinces

In the 50's-60's try to get a steel factory if you have an iron province, to ensure self-sufficiency.

Almost finished Kars region pops, I have to make the kurdish minority in Ardahan smaller but everything else is finished. The area is still pretty turkish, but not nearly the extent before, and all those.

I also still have to lessen the pops in the area, in Vanilla the pops were over two times the russian census numbers of 1897 in 1836, right now they match up with the 1897 numbers, but I still have to get a reasonable amount for 1836

Also, I'm going to try to fix the machine parts shortage that happens until the 1860s

Overall, supply of RGO for the basic industry was increased early game while heavy industry stabilizes around mid 40's.
As always, I will keep testing and taking suggestions to make it all better.
