I'm seriously considering making a youtube channel with builds that allows you to play all the dungeons as a pick-up player with blue, maybe purple, 150 cp gear with training as your only trait. Casuals are players as well.

I did all normal dungeons as a healer with just dropped gear until I was v16 (before DB). I agree that you don't need much better gear for veteran dungeons either, just the right skills and knowing what you're doing.

Casuals can read the builds and use lower quality versions of those items. Skill and stat placement can be changed or casuals can do whatever the fuck they want and run regular vet dungeons with zero problems as long as their builds aren't fucked stat and skill wise.

Which has the best content / price ratio?
>>
Are people actually sad about eso+? I think eso has the best payment model that any mmo has ever had as you don't HAVE to pay to play, but if you want more/different content then you will need to pay for it. The money really helps the devs keep the quality or make it better. If it was only buy to play the quality would drop
see: gw2

If you are gonna buy eso+, why don't you decide for yourself? But objectively orsinium has the most content.

So, with the vet rank removal, ALL the fucking remaining Cadwell's gold zones after Auridon are gonna be champ 160 for me (EP)? Are any fucking DLC zones higher? And for getting Rubedite I gotta to the DLC zones? This seriously takes out the motivation for doing all the remaining quests like I planned to do...

>>
>>146066848
>This seriously takes out the motivation for doing all the remaining quests like I planned to do...
Why? For me it was the opposite, playing on an alt and doing gold directly feels way better now when everything is 160cp, meaning I'll still be levelling cp at a decent rate.

As an explorefag and a RPfag I feel sorry for numbersfags, they're never going to enjoy an MMO as much as I do.
>>
>>146065310
>implying subscription = better
No. Actually hiring competant devs and a writing team that knows what the fuck they're doing, when they're doing it and how they're doing it is why ESO manages to do things so well. An anon posted a Pax East video a few threads back where they explain their quest-writing process and it's pretty strikingly different from, say, the GW2 devs talking about how they do their stories and design content around it. There's a world of difference in how prepared and structured ZOS sounds compared to Anet.

There's another B2P game that I'd consider about on-level with ESO in terms of quality content/writing design and that's The Secret World. They put out really good stuff and do it fairly consistently. They also offer a sub but I doubt it brings them a huge amount of money because TSW feels like it has a fairly small, niche playerbase I imagine most MMO players bounce right off the game the moment they run into a quest where they actually have to do some legwork, think and maybe run a google search or two. and I'd bet GW2 earns more in microtransactions tha TSW does off subs or it's own cash shop - but GW2 still manages to put out much less content, with much lower quality because the dev team just isn't as focused as ZOS or Funcom.

tldr; B2P isn't a bad model (especially not B2P with a good sub plan where you feel like you're well rewarded for subbing like ESO+) and no amount of money is going to fix a dev team that has no drive or direction beyond occasionally popping out some cash-shop shinies or a mediocre event every two weeks.

HOW HARD IS IT TO ADD THIS

>>
>>146069443
Same here.
>>
>>146067843
I don't say that sub=better, but it's a good way for devs to measure players interest in the game and that way encourages them to work harder. What i mostly am looking forwards to is that they would upgrade their servers as the ping is somewhat annoying but not game breaking, and being used to WoWs good netcode and even better server hardware doesn't help at all in that matter. But as long as the game encourages players to be stacked in one zone/city there will always be lag.

I have this issue with RPG's and especially MMO's where I can't decide which class I should stick to at first (I'll end up making tons of alts later regardless but don't want to start straight away) and it's happening again.

In TES games my favorite archtype has always been a sort of Nightblade. I like stealth and I like magic so that's what I went for. But what I find lacking are the big flashy spells I enjoy magic for, I'm still early in the game but I mostly feel like an Assassin and none of the skills in Siphon which are more caster oriented seem very interesting.

Does Nightblade get what I'm missing (with the appropriate build) later on or will I always just feel like an Assassin? Should I give Sorcerer a try instead?
How much does race choice matter if I know I'm going for a Magick based build, should I always go for Breton or Altmer for those racial passives?
>>
>>146073175
I got bored by BDO after a week or so. TESO has pretty good quets for an MMO, and the zones are pretty varied for the most part.

The content for the monthly subscription is still pretty immense. Keep your bait for fishing achievments.

>>146065083
In two months you can just complete them all and then decide. I'd say DB is just for shits and giggles, same goes for the Thieves guild. Not to fool you, I love them both but in terms of repeatable content I'd say Imperial City or Orsinium.

>>146066848
You know, when I played back in the days with veteran ranks I had this bitter taste in my mouth as if it was pointless to make more than one character as I hated to fucking grind. Then! I realized that you need jack shit to be able to enjoy the game. It still felt like a waste of time but now with VRs removed, I can play more than one character and make progress from which my account benefits. How cool is that. Tl;dr: 2.4 patch made the game a real thrill for me once again.

>>146073249
If you ain't min/maxing then the class doesn't really matter. It gives you a few nice bonuses but this is the Elder of Scrolls and we want our characters to be pretty and cool right? I have the same weakness as you in a way that I can't stop making alts and decide what to play. I made Dunmer DK in order to be able to play tank/stam dd as well as mag dd and I must say it's great. Also, the game is very skill-based so even if someone has better racial passives than you, you can outshit him. I say make both and while progressing towards cap you can decide which one you like more and have both maxed.
>>
>>146076591
Nah client crashed while I attempted at the first update. Not sure what happened but downloading away.
>>
>>146063549
The game gained popularity only becaue they dropped the forced subscription, if they make it mandatory the b2p version would become not more than a low quality demo and the game will die again.

>>
>>146078347

>>
>>146078470
That's bullshit though. You can buy the main game, buy the DLCs, and never buy anything else and you're fine. The lack of the crafting bag does not equate to demo. Nothing like a demo. A demo would be something the size of the 1-2 introduction islands.
>>
>>146077867
>>146078347
They removed the mandatory sub for the console release. Otherwise console players would have to pay two subs. ESO and Xbox Live/PSN
>>
>>146078470

This is a good way to put it desu. I don't mind DB (really don't like TG though) but I hope they make other expansions morr in line with Orsinium and IC. Like it feels like things from DB and TG will remain in their respective expansions so they feel very segregated from the main game. I don't imagine TG or DB style quests ever turning up anywhere else in other expansions because I suppose they can't really.

>also why are caltrops so good anyway

Huge AoE, relatively large snare, pretty powerful DoT.

In PvP they're just for spamming chokes and raking in AP from assists, in PvE though they provide a very nice, long duration DoT for stam builds, they also provide mass snares and initial aggro for stam tanks, which is really nice in add-heavy boss fights and trials.

Are there any good guides to learning all the terminology/jargon for how to build an efficient trial running magicka sorc dps?

And what are all the gold, silver, and pledge terms I keep seeing pop up in zone chat that people are looking to run?
>>
>>146104120
Gold and silver pledges are undaunted daily dungeon quest types. When you hit level 45 you get a mail in your mailbox saying you attracted the undaunted elite or whatever and gives you an envelope when you open it quest starts and you go to your alliances capital and find the undaunted base. Two npcs give you one gold and one silver quest, gold quest gives gold key reward and same with silver. You use the keys on the loot chests nearby and get gear, motifs and stuff like that. You can do them once a day.
>>
Is there any point to stay in a campaign your side is going to lose? Like if I'm top 5 for emperor in my alliance but we're in 3rd place is that better than being like top 100 in a campaign where my side will win 1st place?
>>
>>146105090
It's not about the score, is it? It's not about winning, is it?
>>
>>146106371
I just mean for the final reward after the campaign ends, don't you get way better stuff if your side wins? I've only done 1 full campaign to the end and I got something like 10 various purple items and like 9k gold?
>>
>>146085753
He's your typical amicable rogue type and his voice actor is pretty good. He's just a nice character to run into and since he's always there it helps keep you invested both in the story and him because hey, it's your buddy Razum-Dar again. Obviously that's not a tactic that works if the character rubs you the wrong way, but most people seem to like him so it panned out.
>>
>>146100894

To clarify, gold quest always gives a silver key but if you do the additional challenge you get a gold key which everyone always does. And silver quest gives bronze key and silver key if you do the additional challenge. The silver quest challenge is basically nothing, you just have to kill some optional bosses or mobs in the dungeon that could otherwise be skipped. Gold challenge makes the last boss more difficult and can be annoying to do in some cases. But as long as your group isn't all hopelessly shit, you always do the challenge.

>>146124994
I think maybe just Provisioning and Alchemy, since they have some passives that make food/potions last longer
>>
>>146118884
>>146119039

The stealthy passive is VERY VERY good for IC PvP, where the few meters detection radius makes the difference between life and death. This being because the sewers make the range at which you spot enemies very very short, and don't give you the luxury of going another direction. The damage is also brilliant in IC for ganking (which you probably wont end up doing much in cyro, as it doesn't really help and people don't go alone, but in IC is what everyone is trying to do).

As to stam v mag NBs, stam is meh-tier for PvE, unless you have VMA daggers/axes, it is extremely strong in PvP though (some would argue stam NB is the strongest PvP class entirely), especially when it comes to ganking. Mag NB is decent in PvP, not as bursty (though you can still kinda do the proxy det shittery), but with more sustain and group utility, in PvE mag NB is second only to mag DK in terms of DPS output at endgame, they are the second best healers after Temp and the second best tanks after DK. Mag NB is the PvE jack-of-all-trades.

If you're new though, remember that mag NB has an easier time leveling, as stam classes have limited sustain options, especially early on, so don't get discouraged if you get BTFOd by NPCs at low level if you do go stam.

Question for PvPfags:

I'm able to go to Cryodill (and presumably the Imperial City if I have the DLC?) at level 10, right? How bad of an idea is that? Does the scaling give me any chance of surviving an encounter with another, actually leveled player? Even if it's just "only won because I surprised him from stealth" or "just survived by running away."

Similarly, are there many other people running around at less than optimal levels? I kind like the idea of mid-level newbie slapfights but I figure they'd be rare this late into the game.

Master merchant addon. Get into high traffic trading guilds so you have an accurate price for goods. Search by recent so you see early postings that may be underpriced, go check all guild traders to pick up good deals. Buy low, sell high. Understand what goods are in high demand and flip quickly, such gold tempers and alch ingredients.

Or do crafting writs, they give pretty good gold.

If you're console it's way harder cause no master merchant. Same principle, more likely you'll find good deals because no one has master merchant but I'd imagine it's just hard.

Guild stores in good positions get the most customers, thus, you can sell at market prices there. Guild stores anywhere else get shit all and you'll be hard pressed to sell even popular items there except at considerably lower prices. Because of that or just ignorance, you can find stuff at prices well below what they could be sold for at better spots. But you have to scour a large part of Tamriel's guild stores every day looking for deals.

Some stuff you don't buy and sell as is, like raw mats. On average, one 200 stack of any raw mat gives one legendary improvement mat. So, you can calculate a price at which you will make a profit buying raw mats, refining them, selling the refined mat to vendors (because you'll get hardly any more selling it a guild store and it'll take ages to be sold) and selling your legendary mats onward. Remember to take into account the money you get from selling the refined mat which essentially lowers the price you pay for the raw mat.

Finally, you need to position your items in the guild store so they will be sold. If your items are not on the first page of search results for that item, they will sell slower or not at all. Items are placed on the results page based on their total price, not their unit price. Large stacks will be pushed further down, reducing the opportunities for them to be seen. You don't want to sell annoyingly small stacks of cheap items that are used in large quantities. Any item worth 1k+ can be sold in singles.

You don't actually do any real work, do dungeons for clothing, blacksmithing and woodworking mats. You just deconstruct the weapons and armor at appropriate crafting stations and pick up runes and herbs when you are out there questing. Sometimes you'll drop rares and some of them extremely valuable. I sold bunch of gold runestones for 9k each, I had five of them.

But then again whatever floats your boat, you need in game money for buying gear, potions, quality glyphs, food and shit like that which you can make for yourself or buy them with the money you make selling mats or crafted goods of your choice.

As long as you put something on the market which is useful to people, people will buy it.

There is no quick way to make money with crafting. The quickest money-maker is trading, that is, buying cheap and selling for more. Even that requires going through guild stores every day.

Provisioning is piss easy to level, ingredients are dirt cheap, a 100-stack of food lasts long time and the provisioning hireling brings tons of ingredients every day. So the demand for food is small. Food sells slowly even at rock bottom prices.

Alchemy is more time consuming to level but not difficult either and pretty much everyone wants to have it leveled for the increased potion effect time passive. There's tons of different combinations for potions so people would rather craft their own so they exactly what they want instead of having to make do with what's being sold. So, again, potions don't sell fast and there's basically zero profit margin for buying ingredients and crafting them into potions.

Selling ingredients that you get from your hirelings or gather yourself or buy cheaply from going through every guild store is profitable. And you don't need crafting skill to do that except for the hireling.

Equipment crafting can be profitable but you don't make money through the guild store. You need to find people who want stuff crafted and craft it for them. Also, in order to make profit from buying raw mats and refining them you need to have the passives that increases the chances for mats gained from refining.

The Reach is ruled by the reachmen(ruler unknown). Western Skyrim consists of Haafingar (Solitude is the capital of Western Skyrim), Winterhold&Falkreath holds and does Hjaalmarch exists? If you want set before max lvl craft them, don't buy or grind. If you want reach max lvl faster put training trait to your gear while crafting.
>As soon as I reach veteran?
There are no veteran rank anymore, soon as you reach 160CP do following.
Then you want to grind/buy/craft the right set (max lvl of course) for yourself and upgrade it to legendary.

No idea what the numbers for a level 40 with, I'm assuming, no CP are.

If you want good numbers, just remember a few things:

- Proper gear (crafted sets - julianos for mag, hunding's rage for stam - of either all light/medium or 5-1-1 if you have undaunted level 9, also, jewelry is very important, but not until you hit 160 CP)
- Proper skills (you generally have 1 main damage spam ability, mag temp = puncturing sweeps, stam NB = surprise attack etc, you weave these with light attacks and keep DoTs and buffs up on top of them)
- Proper buff maintenance (blue food for DPS is generally the best, remember to keep your major damage and crit buffs up http://esoacademy.com/buffs-debuffs/ )

If you can get that shit sorted, decent gear, decent spell rotations, and properly buffed, your numbers will always be acceptable for your level, changing on whatever level that might be.

If you want some basic build advice, go to Tamriel Foundry, or post your class and stat here and I or others can give you some basics to work off of.

Thanks for the detailed answer. I've started with a magick build and I plan to respec after a while to get a feel for the stamina builds/skills too.
Regarding weapon choices, I should go for dualwield as a stamblade then? What about magblade? Staff? Bow? I realize I have a bunch of melee oriented skills too in the assassin skill line so anything works I guess?
>>
>>146182890

They should have included some form of Necromancy line. Could have added a pet to that then.
>>
>>146139936
Yeah, you should join the campaign below 50 to be able to do something and own people. The thing is at this level you lack all the passive you normally acquire later on. Around level 30 I'd say you can join the non-CP campaign where I play. I often see lower lvl players. They have at least something but it is really challenging for them to outplay geared players. Whatever floats your boat.

>Regarding weapon choices, I should go for dualwield as a stamblade then? What about magblade? Staff? Bow? I realize I have a bunch of melee oriented skills too in the assassin skill line so anything works I guess?

You want to have all the weapon skill lines at 50 by endgame. In terms of setups, stamblades have 4 main weapon setups:

- DW/2H - This is the highest damage burst/best sustain option, with 2H being the buff bar for rally and DW being the main damage bar, it is restricted to melee though and is very lacking in sustained damage and AoE (other than meme tornado)

- DW/Bow - Less sustain than 2H on the back bar, but makes up for it with great AoE and DoTs, better sustained damage because DoTs, better for group fights and PvE, has range giving it versatility, lacks some sustain and you have to use either pots or drain power or flying blade for major burtality

- 2H/Bow - Sub optimal for PvP since wrecking blow is no longer ridiculously strong, so your spam will probably be surprise attack, which means you may as well use DW, for PvE though this still offers super high DPS because wrecking blow never knocked bosses back and still does huge damage

- SB/whatever - Makes you fucking ridiculously tanky in PvP, gives you access to the light attack-surprise attack-bash fun times combo, gives you reverb bash which is still fucking AIDS, gives you low slash which has always been AIDS, basically the best choice unless you want to DD in PvE. Dump literally any weapon you want on your back bar it doesn't even matter, it could be a second DD bar and you'll still be insanely strong.

For magblades just use destro/restro or DW/restro, mag builds have very little variety when it comes to NB.

What class works best for playing like a Spellsword? Mostly wearing heavy armor, self buffs, stabbing one guy while blowing up everything close by, a bit of range for pulling or softening up a target while closing the distance, that sort of thing. I don't really care about healing, staffs, pets, thievery, bows, or being heavily specialized. I prefer playing Elder Scrolls games with a sword in one hand and a spell in the other.

There is a campaign for people from lvl 10 up to 49. Veteran rank players are not allowed to enter. There you/him should have a better chance against other player, therefore it should be more enjoyable before you reach level 50.

>>146188340
You will have to opt for one or another to make it good but I think every class works well with magicka as well as with stamina. Choose class that you think looks the coolest and find your way thru all the abilities to find what you're looking for.
>>
Do I get anything for playing this campaign shit?
>>
>>146188340

Any of them will work. They all get magicka abilities (some get more stam morphs than others though) so it's more of a case of deciding whether you want to go stamina or magicka (you can't really do true hybrids nowadays). Sorcs and Templars get the most in the way of long range nuking if that's a factor for you (though if you want that you'll mainly be magicka based). There's a couple of builds floating round for doing heavy armor magicka sorc and heavy armor templar for PvP. You can also do a magicka DK in heavy armor (though DKs have more close range/DoT abilities).

If you do go down the magicka route though then you won't really be using your sword and shield to do much damage. It'll mainly be for defensive purposes.

don't go Argonian, idk why people keep saying that when clearly it's either Breton or High Elf that's best.

Argonians only increase healing on themselves.
>>
>>146194991
Breton and the thief.

Breton/Altmer give the biggest magicka pools of any race (+10%), while also having the best sustain (Dunmer also get +10% but they have no sustain passive). Breton cost reduction is more efficient if your base magicka regen is quite low (which, as a Temp, it will be because you rely on rune focus for your magicka recovery). Breton also has the spell resist passive, making you that slight bit tankier, which means you'll take ever so slightly less damage from boss spells and require less healing yourself, allowing you to dedicate more to the group.

Thief because spell crit >>> everything else in terms of raw number output. This is especially true if you are going to use sets that don't give you loads of crit passives (Julianos for example gives loads of spell crit but you'll want Spell Power Cure which only gives max mag and spell damage).

Yes, heal spells crit exactly the same as damage spells, for example, if you look in the CP tree, there's a point that buffs how much healing and damage your crits do.
>>
>>146197186
>>146197594
Also just to be clear, because the way crits works somewhat confuses the issue, spell penetration is a purely damage based mechanic and has no effect on your heals, so if you're a dedicated min-max healer, you can ignore it unless you want to do some damage as well.

>or you're not animation cancelling properly/at all.
Yeah I wasn't doing this but I'm not sure if people I'm up against are doing it either.

Also playing on the non CP campaign for the under veteran players. When I look at the list of shit that did damage to me after I died, it's like 2-3k damage an ability while my abilities do fucking nothing.
>>
>>146206968
>>146207328

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVsJe2pdWH0

This is for magicka setups.

Most magicka animation canceling is just medium attack weaving, and is relatively simple stuff that you get the hang of as you play.

Stam animation cancelling is much more skill specific and requires practice with each individual skill until you know the timing. For example, here is wrecking blow:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIz6J_c9GQc

The difference is almost all magicka spells are ranged, so once the projectile fires, you can cancel the rest of the animation with a light attack (usually). Melee skills are much more finicky and require understanding and practice of that specific skill because there is no projectile to indicate when the damage will go through.

There are also skills that can't be cancelled by light attacks, for example, surprise attack. The only thing that can cancel a surprise attack animation is a bash. Bash cancelling is SUPER IMPORTANT for melee combat, as you can negate almost the entire animation of certain skills and, if you are using SB, do a LOT of damage in the process.

For surprise attack specifically, the general combo most NBs use (and this is why I would suggest using SB as your main bar on a stam NB) is light attack -> surprise attack -> bash. Everyone can do something similar with puncture in the SB skill line, but surprise attack does way more damage, and properly cycling light attacks and bashes will double your damage output.
>>
>>146201402
Just depends how you want to level, if you really don't care about the the story/quests and just want to powerlevel you can do it in like less than a day playtime with AOE mob grind. About 700k-1m without xp boosts and xp boosts go up to at least +100%.
>>
>>146207328
Practice with a flame staff. If you set the mob on fire, you're doing it correctly.
>>146206968
It's called light weaving. You precede each ability cast with a light attack. Click the attack button and immediately activate the ability.
If you notice, a light attack takes a certain amount of time before you can light attack again. However, if you follow up the light attack with an ability instead, the ability triggers immediately. In practice, you precede each ability cast with a "free" light attack for extra DPS.
There's also a technique called medium weaving where, if I understand correctly, you click and hold the attack button immediately after activating an ability. When the ability animation completes, you let off the attack button and do a medium attack. I haven't experimented with this enough to know how well it works.

>Probably, currently level 27 with T3 Heavy orichalcum. I don't really know how to make a "good build" for PvP but I'm just rolling out with greens and reinforced perk or w/e gives the more armor thing.

Ok yeah you shouldn't really worry about PvP seriously until you are at 160 CP 2bh. There are far too many variables, constantly changing as you level, to really optimise until you hit the level cap. Then you should start worrying about builds and CP and stuff.

If you are getting raped hardcore in nonvet PvP it'll most likely be because experienced players often outfit lower level characters with minmaxed (for that level, usually level 45+) gear and go in to stomp new players and get easier emperors and achievements and shit. You might run into autists like these, if you do, don't worry too much about it honestly, and every time you die, just think "what could I have done to beat that guy" because even if there was no hope of you winning, you can still try to put up as much of a fight as possible, learning all the way.
>>
>>146209541
>medium weaving
IIRC I heard this was good with the 2h uppercut because of it's long cast time, you end up sometimes weaving a into a full heavy attack. But if you go for uppercut morph you may want to do a heavy hitting ability/ulti.

People in Cyrodiil are idiots and wrong.

ZOS tried an animation fix thing with DB on the PTS but it bugged the game out even more than weaving to begin with so they reverted it after a day or two.

Well memed.
>>
>>146209541
medium weaving is taking advantage of the global cooldown between skills, more dps than light weaving but also far more prone to a mistake that translates to a dps loss.

if you charge it up too little the projectile won't fire, too long and you've gone over the gcd.
>>
>>146211970
Both techniques work.

So let me get this straight. Hybrid builds aren't viable right? Hybrid being a mix of Magicka and Stamina

So if I am making a Stamina build I obviously go for the Stamina morphs and use melee weapons and/or the bow while Magicka builds use the staves and regular Magicka based skills?
>>
>>146214385
Yes.
>>
>>146214385
Hybrids are only really viable for tanks, because buffs/debuffs have flat percentage that doesn't scale with magicka or stamina, but still you'd be looking at around 70/30 stam/mag because of blocking and consistence stam attacking, where mag will be used for most debuff/buff and used when the effect ends.

Bidding for the guild traders is retarded. You can't see how much others bid for the trader you're bidding on, so all you can do is throw so much gold at it to make sure you get it. Even then the spot gets stolen from time to time.

You don't weave that way with heavy attacks, you weave with light attacks.

>>
>>146216071
>how do you weave with lightning staff?

You don't.

>Or should I just settle for fire or frost staff instead?

Unless you have a CC heavy PvP build, inferno is always better. It simply offers higher DPS output because of the passive damage increase.

>>
>>146211970
>>146213361
>>146216071

It's not about skill first or attack first, there is only one way of doing it, that is attack -> skill -> attack -> skill, it doesn't matter which order you want to think of it as, all you're doing is cancelling the backswing of a skill by replacing it with a light attach, then cancelling the light attack by using a skill.

The only difference is when you are doing attack -> skill -> bash -> attack -> skill -> bash with a melee setup, there it's an exact rotation of attacks in a specific order..

Nords seems to have some basic understanding of certain phrases, especial if they're living near a place that's historically bound to them, ie. villages close to ruins where dragon priests slumbers. But this seems to go for Nords only, since orcs who stumbled upon a dragon priest missionary had no idea what it was and had to call upon a scholar to investigate it.

There's also a scholarly debate regarding what the "ardent flame" skilline is. Some claim it's a sort of thu'um while other claim it's a sort of destruction magic. Whatever the case it, it comes from the Akaviri.

Fuck me I want more lore about the classes.

Just imagine, an update where we get some new "class" storylines that bring us a bit more of the lore and help unlock some new skills or something. I really don't know. For Cyrodilic language, it's safe to assume that common folk can read. There are books in almost every home in TESO and Skyrim.

I would say that the most devoted scholars can learn old/dead/lost languages.
Examples.

Altmeris and Bosmeris are probably more easier to learn than Jel. I wish next TES game, would have elves that speak elven languages. P.S. Wrothgar had some quests involving Orchish language.

As long they make it varied then I'm fine with it. I don't want like Templars to be presented as paladins or some shit like that. To me they can be like resto/light mages, paladins, undead slaying assassins, resto/light wielding berserkers etc. There's so much that fits within the classes because there's no real lore around them and I kind of like that from an RP perspective. It lets you get a little creative with it yourself. As I said though, as long as they present an open class lore that doesn't pigeon hole the entire class into being one particular concept then I'm cool with it.

The activated abilities seems pretty good now (got a plan to use the Clannfear in PvP for a couple of builds) but the pathing still seems pretty shit tier, they still don't scale at all with wep damage/stam and they're still really easily cc'd in both PvP and PvE. Is there ever any hope for pets being a 'competitive' choice in ESO where you don't really have much control over the pet itself?
>>
so whats the "WvW" thingy like?

Is it like GW2 where you just run around a huge zerg all day and cap points?
>>
>>146285574
Get a couple aoe abilities.
Find a spot where people are grinding mobs.
Find someone who will group with you. Most will if they are not already grouped because it goes a lot faster.
You should be able to get to 45-50 in a few hours.
>>
>>146286171
It's a bit less zergy than GW2.
There are more methods for dealing with huge mobs, as far as I experienced.
Also no retarded bashing on doors by 50 people, because doors are immune to infantry damage.

Sort of goes without saying that this is important. NPC's arguing that the classes exist for no other reason than that learning one of the skills makes it easier to learn the other ones or something like that. There's so much potential.

Expeditions into ruins to discover lost information about the battle-style the dragon knight uses. Nightblade spies posing as other people's shadows. Heavy armour sorceres acting as witchhunters to track down especial dangerous magic users, utilizing their anti-magic. Getting thrown into theological debates where different sides fabricate research and destroy information due to the implications of the skills a templar posses.

If you get into an active one which does objectives and steamrolls nerds non-stop, it's insane pretty good xp and rewards.

In PvE they're pretty useless unless you are doing meme runs with 4 pet sorcs (there's even vids floating around somewhere of the hel ra trial done with 12 pet sorcs), the twilight is important if you wanna be a sorc healer, but I dunno why you'd want to do that.

In PvP they're pretty mediocre when it comes to groups and such. However, in 1v1s, if you go full autism and get a maw 2 piece as well, it gets pretty fucking memey pretty fucking fast, and a lot of people will have a very hard time dealing with you because nobody builds to counter this rarest of niches, it can be really quite funny to watch experienced duelists get fucked up by a horde of pets.
>>
>>146286793
PvP offers a bare minimum of XP, but there are a bunch of daily quests both in Cyrodiil (found in the towns) and in IC (after you complete the main quests) that offer a fuckload of XP to make up for it.

Plus some of the best grind spots in the game are in Cyro (cracked wood cave being the best in Cyro), and IC, all of which is full of mobs and very good for grinding.

Pets are in a strange position. They have more health and proper physical resistance yet they are and will always be dumb as bricks. However their ability that make sure no one can ever do more than 45% of their max health have made them more viable in 1vs1, smallscale pvp, and veteran dungeons. It's funny seeing a DPS getting instantly killed by Vorenor in Spiderclutch while my twilight have more than half the health left.

I run as a sorc healer with only twilight and absorption field as heals and I've done vICP and vWGT without too much hassle. Only times I've been sweating is when someone have misunderstood the mechanics such as people dying because everyone ran to the same white circle in vICP.

My current skill setup is

>> Resto staff

> Velocious curse
> Crystal fragment
> Ward ally
> Bound aegis
> Twilight matriarch
> Aggresive warhorn

>> Lighting staff
> Unstable wall
> Liquid lighting
> Empowered ward
> Bound Aegis
> Twilight Matriarch

The twilight burstheal is really, really good. It instantly heals the two targets with the lowest health that's in line of sight for 7300 health for 2500 magicka, without crit. This means that I can put a lot of dots and such to help out doing damage, that in turn have resulted in me sometimes doing as much damage as our damage dealers (or more when doing pugs).

No but you're shooting yourself in the face if you don't level your crafting skills on at least one character.

Equipment crafting and enchanting can be maxed without putting a single point into them because they are leveled by deconstructing items. Alchemy and provisioning is leveled by crafting items which requires using skill points so that you can craft higher level items. So you won't really be using that many skill points on them as you level so you can level them all and have enough points for your skills.

I use a controller. The pro is that you with a key on the keyboard instantly can switch between keyboard and controller, and you have an easier time to control your movement speed, meaning it's easier for you to not fuck up in dungeons due to poor positioning. The con is that you've a reduced camera speed, meaning you'll be fucked over from time to time in pve or looking for where everyone is in a dungeon.

Weaving and animation cancelling is about the same, I've an easier time with controller but that's desu just a matter of preference senpai.

> Existing

The Blades doesn't exist yet since they're founded in the third era by Tiber Septim. However, the Dragonguard exist, that have many similarities with the Blades and would later either transform or be the inspiration for the Blades.

The Dragonguard in ESO serves as both bodyguards, spies and assassins. They're currently semmingly splintered where some who are still loyal to Clivia Tharn, such as Otho Numida, while you have others who work against her by undermine Molag Bal's power in the Imperial City, such as the Blade of Drake.

Julanos is one of, if not the best, set for magicka users. You could also give Twiceborn star a try if you want a set that have some flexibility around it since you can switch your boons depending on your build.

Best motif for heavy armour is Dwemer and Akaviri if you ask me.

Not a big fan of Dwemer or Akaviri
I'm going for more of a battlemage/paladin look. Although I do like the look of the mercenary set mostly how the shoulders only cover the right arm.

Right now I have all Breton armor with a Breton light hood with iron colored armor with a gold trim and blue for all the cloth bits and I think that color scheme works really nicely as a daggerfall templar.
>>
>>146303581
>>146305526
Vanilla breton heavy amor does have a "paladin" look. Also if you are a magicka user you can never go wrong with julianos with divine trait. Get the thief stone for crits and get juliaones and have about 60% crit chance and it will help your healing and dps.

I like to mix my motifs, I like breton and dwemer for heavy chest piece, legguards of dwemer as well and helmets of altmer.
>>
>>146306658
Also I'd like to add that since you are close to cp160 you might want to hold on until you reach 160 because julianos sets with good traits costs pretty penny and you'll be buying the same thing twice.
>>
>>146305526
If you want the classical knight in armour the Breton is a solid choice. Only armour that I believe could rival would be the Daggerfall alliance armour.

However it's much harder to find a crafter for the Daggerfall armour than for Breton.

i am clearly biased because i really like dunmer and azura but meridia is a cunt. she is against everything that is undead, very neat for your everyday n'wah but dunmer doesn't have a problem with necromancy at its core. i mean raising dead nilly willy can get you into trouble for being a rude guy or for being an extremo heretic and disrespecting the ancestors.

my point being gods are 90% are terrible cunts but if tamriel was irl i'd worship azura. at least i'll know that she will give the slightest fuck about me, which can't be said for rest of the gods.

and please don't >mara me, mara is a irrelevant trash deity.

wew i rambled about virtual deities, never thought i'd do this.

True, but it's not all of Hammerfell that's part of the Covenant. And considering the events of Orsinium the tribes residing in Wrothgar aren't part of the Covenant any more.

I have largely bypassed the Elder Scrolls series. I had always heard of Oblivion and Morrowind while growing up, but I never got into it. Skyrim was popular a couple years back or so and I didn't get into it then either.

I'm now largely into lore. Reading the Warcraft books, Star Wars books, etc has turned me onto a great fictional story set in a virtual world. Accordingly, I did buy those three games I just mentioned, got all the recommended mods for Morrowind, and gave it a shot. I also played Skyrim for a bit.

I suppose I'm just not seeing the appeal of the series. I know nothing about the MMO; why would a person want to be lost in a virtual world that isn't an MMO? Morrowind and Skyrim do not feel like worlds to me, because I know they are no other players. It feels like a game. I do not feel that these games are particularly innovative or anything. Sure, you can have a billion quests or tons of niche areas you could unlock for the first time on your 9th playthrough, but why do so? While perhaps it can be impressive to marvel at the amount of content that there is in a game, are we to evaluate it as per the amount of content alone?

Is the lore compelling? For surely it is for the lore that has made Warcraft so appealing to me. From what I gather reading a few in-game books, it's about an empire and dragons. Really, it sounds a lot like Game of Thrones.

So what about the MMO then? MMO's do a much better job to me of feeling like a proper world. Should I give it a shot? Perhaps I should, but I don't know...

In fantasy worlds there are things that don't make sense to you because writers didn't bother or couldn't make up a backstory for them. In Elder Scrolls lore there are a lot of mystery but they never stop delivering explanations to the said mysteries. It is much more than just empire and dragons, everything in ES lore is very detailed and if they are not they will be in a future dlc to ESO or a new game to single player series. I don't know ya boi just read UESP wiki, read in game books or character pages. Lots of interesting writing there.

See, I don't really care for this concept. They should just hire proper writers to write book-length lore like Warhammer and Warcraft do. I love that stuff.
>>

>>
>>146326750
>Is the lore compelling?

Yes. As far as lore goes, it's extremely in-depth and interesting and pretty damn dark when you think about it nevermind some retcon shit that's innevitable

If you like MMOs and think you might like TES lore, then give it a chance, it's pretty great.
>>
>>146328451
the books are short stories or pieces of information that elaborates lore, and they are by no means poorly written.

Some are downright amazing The Song of Pelinal, The Wolf Queen, 36 Lessons of Vivec, Palla, A Game at Dinner

That's why they're doing One Tamriel. Player density depends on the day of the week, time of day, faction, etc. If you can't wait and don't mind 100+ ping, you can switch servers from the launcher.

I read 3 articles on One Tamriel and none of them say anything about that.

Switching servers on the launcher requires you download the client again and you can only access characters on that server. You're saying that will change?
>>
>>146350189
That's a weird limitation of the PC version. You can manually rename the game folder to switch servers without redownloading, who knows why they couldn't automate that, especially since its built in to the console versions.

>>
>>146363583
You need a lot of Armor Pen for your poison claws to do any serious damage and a shitload of stamina recovery.
Morphs are; Werewolf Berserker for the extra bleed, Brutal pounce has really nice AoE, Hircine's Rage gives you a 10% damage buff for 17 seconds, Rousing Roar and Howl of Despair is great if you have people behind you and the icing on the cake is Claws of Anguish which reduces all healing on whatever you hit.
In PvP I like to focus on Healers and Archers so the backline doesn't get fucked too hard, ignore tanks because lolnodamage but try to hit as many people with claws as possible for that sweet heal reduction.
Oh, and don't jump into sorcerers because they'll just teleport away like little girls unless you get your 3 and 4 off fast enough to stunlock them. The above also appies to people jumping on you, just chain your 3 and 4 so they have no stamina left to break free.
>>
>>146364815

The Devs intended it to be for players with gold gear and 300cp. You don't really need gold armor, purple is fine, but should have gold weps. Also depends a lot on class, I'd say magSorcs and magNBs have an easier time than magTemplar and magDK which have an easier time than all the stam classes. It's mostly learning the mechanics through so doing it a few times on normal mode before going into hardmode. It really gets a lot easier after the second time or so.
