Hello, friends. I'm new and am playing a Nord Dragon Knight.

What is there to do in this game? What classes are fun? Is the assassin DLC actually fun?

Potentially dumb question - What is light attack weaving? I figure that it's just doing attacks between your abilities however is there something special about it? Do I have to do some sort of animation cancel to optimize my DPS?

Been playing on and off since the first beta test, but I only ever got to level 26 on my Dragonknight, but I want to get into this game properly now.
I've alreadyy bought Dark Brotherhood with my Crowns from when I was subbed, but should I get the Thieves' Guild, Orsinium and Imperial City now, or wait?

it's using the global cooldown between abilities to light attack at no cost. it's essentially free dps. you do have to cancel the light attack animation with an ability however.

Dark brotherhood is kind of meh, same with the thieves guild dlc. Imperial city is a good addon especially if you play with friends and orsinium is great not just for well designed content but also has almost all of the endgame crafting you'll want. No need to rush getting to any of them, personally I did my faction storyline and areas until about 44 and skipped coldharbor for orsinium.

Just do quests until you're pretty much out of quests, and then either get ESO+ for the DLC or grind achievements, do PVP, etc.

The Dark Brotherhood DLC is bretty good but it doesn't add much other than the story line and some repeatable quests, Imperial City and Wrothgar are definitely the most bang for your buck.

They're completely locked behind the DLC. You can still steal and kill people with the help of the Ledgermain skill line but those guilds are DLC only.

Lv21 newfag here. Is it better to quest or just grind mobs for XP?

I have some gear that gives +7% kill XP and I'm getting about 110xp per mob (which I can instagib with my rotation). Quests usually give anywhere up to 1.5k but I could kill 15 mobs in a fraction of the time it would take to do one.

TLDR I want to level fast, what is the best way to do it

Grinding mobs with a full set of training gear upgraded to purple (gold will be a waste of mats) with xp potions is the fastest way to level.

But, as I always tell new players, enjoy the game and quest. If you do most of the shit in the zone you'll level fine.

I read a theory somewhere that magick and technology is in decline in Tamriel, so the newer games have shittier and shittier understanding of how the world works.

It fits pretty well. Consider how thu'um is suppose to be something really common among nords. You don't see a lot of it in Skyrim. Yet there's a lore book where someone says that the Dragonknight's abilities are thu'ums (while someone else just claim it's an exotic kind of destruction magic. I want more lore on the classes). And suddenly you've a shit-ton of people running shouting, even among non-nords. As it should be.

Unless there was something changed in the patch, both razor and anti-calvary caltrops are stamina and now cost 8100 stamina instead of like 7180 stamina. I'm sitting in azuras star with no scrolls captured and 7958 stamina. I used both of those abilities regularly for campaign, the only way to do it now is either invest points into stamina, eat purple food or get a scroll bonus I think.

No. And I'm not sure if I'd like a magicka morph on it. It's a very critical skill for a lot of stamina builds. Giving it a magicka morph would take away something that's very, very typical stamina.

I do a 3-2-1 spread for my templar. Magicka for the spear spam, lot of bang for your buck with health, stamina eh, you have to share stamina abilities with block, dodge and sprint, so fuck that. Resto staff to restore magicka, though I don't usually need it unless it's a protracted fight.

They recently redid the heavy armor perks. Pretty spiffy now, at least for PVE. You using Empowering Sweep? You should. Take some tanky stuff. Oh, and get Repentance ASAP.

Well this is on PS4 and the only non CP campaign is the 30 day azuras star I think there's a 7 day one on PC?

Basically though 80% of the campaign population seem to be under 200 CP but there's a group of maybe 9-10 dudes who are 501 CP, well geared and well skilled that have coordinated to completely take over the campaign. It's really really hard to find enough random people on the losing side to even start a siege and if any of those dudes are online and see what you are doing it's just over.

Not exactly fun when you literally can't do anything in a campaign because every keep is taken and you can't even find enough people willing to take resources.

Is anyone else getting memory leaks since the patch on consoles? I

So I recently bought the game and I'm having fun playing a dragonknight with a bow. I've slowed down questing by picking up every single crafting thing I can see while out and about. Is it worth my time doing this or should I just power level to the end?

The best way is probably to pick up everything you see. Alchemy ingredients you pick up at low levels will be relevant on all levels, same with most of the stuff you get from runes.

Picking up ore, wood and stuff like that and later refine it help you level up crafting faster, and you'll want to max crafting as soon as possible.

Alchemy ingredients are the most important to pick up cause they are hard to get otherwise, then maybe runestones for the chance at kutas. Other then that, I trained my blacksmithinf woodworking and clothing with deconstruction only, and mats quickly become obsolete as you level so I wouldn't really bother picking those up unless you want a tiny chance at gold tempers when you define them.

Is that crafting bag shared between characters?

If it is I may well sub to Plus just for the ability to not have 500000 reagents in my inventory.

I'd sub for that if I had the money at the moment. It would make doing provisioning and alchemy writs for alts much more convenient. It's too much of a hassle transferring the necessary mats from a bank alt every day.

The best armor is usually crafted, with the exceptions being negligibly better to all but dedicated min/maxers.

Yes, the Dungeon finder works that way.

The finder tries to scale you up to CP160 equivalent stats, but without set pieces and the correct enchants this just gives you resource buffs.

For me, the most fun class types to play are

>Stam Sorc

If you mean hybrid as in mixing stamina abilities with magicka spells, it's possible but non-viable. Magplars, NBs and Sorcs use Dual Wield on their Front (Magplar) or Backbars (NB, Sorc).

Try a Magplar, simple rotation, easy to sustain, good damage, healing and AoE from a single ability. EP all the way.

That's how it works for dungeons. There's no raids available for pug groups.

Nightblades are pretty fun in solo content and will make stealing and murdering people way easier than for other classes due to their ability to cloak. Pick faction based on what race you're interested in.

Buggy as fuck, never found a dungeon group with a dungeon finder. You are better off joining a clan, you might not find one that is good right of the bat but join clans see them for yourself.

Okay so I am a two-hand sorcerer. I started off with a destrucion staff sorc it performed very well but I got bored and switched to a dual-wield crit build which is still fun but I wanted to try out two hands as well so I am a two hands.

I use Wrecking Blow, Brawler as my damage abilities also Brawler gives you a damage shield which is useful and animation matches your moves when you Uppercut ----> normal light attack ---> Brawler ----> Uppercut and so on. I use Surge from Storm calling skill line for damage bonus and and crit on heal. Camouflaged hunter from fighter guilds skill line for crit rating bonus.

I use full medium armor for crit and weapon damage bonuses and I am a Breton so I don't get any useful bonuses from my racial line other than spell resistance.

This is not an optimal build, I am still working on it. The reason why I explained my build is to show you that literally anything works as long as you distribute your attributes right.

Also in my opinion all of the classes have neat skills. Just open some ESO wikia and read up on class and weapon skills or go with what you think looks or feels cool and tell us what you need to do with it. That'll probably be better for you.

I don't really know, should they first balance CP's and PvP, or should they add justice sytem part 2 and PvP arenas/bfs first and balance the PvP after those systems.

Anyone of them systems are just small scale pvp and we already have that, so they don't really need to be added before thinking about them. It's a hard balancing act.

As much as I didn't mind Thieves and DB, I really hope they're done with those sorts of DLCs. They're way too short, don't have much to offer for any real endgame and they're all far too focused on a particular narrative (being a thief or being an assassin). I some proper sandbox style adventure areas and (I can dream) maybe even some crossover with PvP in places.

If you're that bothered about 'muh PvP griefing' then they could just make it an opt in system for people who actually want to have some form of consequence to what they're doing in an MMO. Slap a couple of titles, some cosmetic crap (guard/bandit outfits and shit) and maybe a leader/bounty board and people will still play (though you'll probably get some PvE shitters complaining because they have to PvP for the outfit). The reason why the guard/bandit system has so much potential is that it'll allow for PvP in the open world, which will get even better come One Tamriel.

So what exactly is the point of Magicka detonation?
Its casting time is so long and it deals 2 times less damage than my curse.
I mean I can see how the damage increases with the number of people but rarely do I see such dense groups + they wouldn't usually stay in place seeing me doing conspicious things on them for 1.8 sec unless they are retarded

People take it for the Proxy Det morph which becomes instant and centers the explosion on you. It became a Magicka NB (amongst other NB classes) staple to run it because it could wipe out zergs when combined with pic related. It's been changed though now so it's a lot less effective against one person and slightly less effective against groups from what I recall.

There's an aoe cap but it's for each individual attack. So say you set of proxy death and kill someone, say 5 out of 10 people will get hit. But 3 people die from the vicious death explosion, you've suddenly 3 explosions can hit 5 out of the now 7 surviving people. So vicious death is as efficient as it is due to it creating a chain reaction to bypass the aoe cap.

I used a very simple stealth archer build while leveling my NB.
Start with a heavy attack from stealth, followed by a poison arrow then as many light and heavy attacks you can get until the targets close to melee. Then pop shadow cloak, run past them and set up behind them for another heavy attack. Continue until they are all dead. Simple and effective against any non-boss mob singly or in small groups.
It was a good build for that particular character because he was heavy into crafting and I had few skill points to spare. I don't know how effective it would be at high levels because I changed the build later on.

Because auction houses are shit. Inevitably everyone tries to undercut each other and you also inevitably have people doing shit like buying everything and re-listing it. AHs weren't in older MMOs like UO and EVE and it worked fine. It allowed you to do stuff like bid for prime market locations and then have people in turn pay you for the privilege of listing your goods there. It also means that you have to get out into the world to try and find a bargain away from the common spots. Those who then own stores away from common/high traffic locations have to market their store.

I'm hoping it'll continue once housing is released and there'll be an opportunity for stuff like setting up a shop at your home.

I gotta say the trade system the game uses is garbage simply because the different trade locations don't cater to specific markets, it's just a prime location that gets a lot of traffic or a shit location where only the hardcore resellers go out of their way to buy. So all it really does is keeps the market controlled by the top guilds who own the few prime locations while newer players have to sell their items for well under market value and pay above market value.

Not to mention the hassle involved in just putting something on the market starting out, first you have to find a guild then make sure the guild has 50 members, make sure it has a trader and make sure you get permissions to use the trader. When I first started out I hadn't sold a single thing on the market until I was in my 40s because I couldn't.

You will still be dealing some damage just because there are attacks that have side effects that are very useful for healing/support, and Spell Power contributes to both spell damage and healing. Loot isn't useless. Really you should be using most loot for this purpose with the exception of the intricate stuff or whatever the fuck the 200% vendor price trait is. From there you can either join a trade guild (there are a metric fuck ton around) and sell off the shit you get from deconstructing or keep it for yourself until later. This is actually one of the the few games were say a purple quality sword you find at level 15 can provide some assistance to you when you're max level.

Also no one gives a fuck about 'gearing' up when leveling, which is basically no different to any other modern MMO. Getting some set pieces is cool but that's all it is, a cool little bonus. You'll end up outstripping the gear quickly anyway so wtf would the point be? It's not like it's especially difficult to level with the shit you find from dungeons, questing or killing mobs anyway. The only real reason would be if you have a real hard on for BWB I guess.

That said it's far easier just to join a guild(s) and ask a guildie to knock out a low level green suit of something like Hunding's or some shit. I've done it a couple of times for guildies as I usually have a shit load of low level mats knocking around from all the deconstruction I do.

I like Deltia, others may have their opinion and I haven't much clue in making my own builds yet but he seem to know his shit. The only problem I must point out is that pretty all his builds unless he states otherwise, are made with veteran dungeons and raid content in mind in other words especially with that build, you relaying on your weakness to be covered by organised group members. IMO. The latest patch made it a lot more fun to actually PvP in IC now (about fucking time) and IC has an endgame purpose of sorts. DB was quite fun but it's effectively a really small region with a fairly interesting main quest and some dailies you can do. Honestly I hope they don't do anymore DLCs like DB (they should be more along the lines of Orsinium or IC) but I imagine they probably will.

The PvE is great and the world-bosses found there are the most fun in the whole game. They also work as excellent test your mettle as a tank or damagedealer (especial Cori is an excellent dps test due to his attacks being really easy to avoid).

It also pushed the story of the Daggerfall covenant forward and shows a beginning of a period where the alliances crumbling under their feet. I'm sure we'll see more of it in future expansions now when the ashlanders are going fucking bonkers and we've 3/4 of the tribes in the Black Marches who aren't part of the pact.

But that's not the best parts. The addition of more orc lore and culture is the best part of Orsinium. It's way better than how they were presented in the Daggerfall covenant quests where they're little more than dumb killers, with shit like "hur durr I'm a orc poet, I know all the orc poems, all 12 of em". In Orsinium we got a whole quest-line dedicated to orc cuisine. We get to travel to orc burial grounds on top of a mountain. There's even an unmarked quest centred around gathering orc relics.

Long gone is the day when orcs live in fucking tents somewhere acting like cavemen going ”ooga booga whe de all honour at”. It's a nice story element that the worship of Trinimac is used to undermine the old traditions and use it as a tool to "civilize" the orc, favouring Trinimac over the shitstain you find uncivilized orcs worship in the other regions. In fact, I'd say that those worshipping faeces aren't much better than those worshipping rocks in Craglorn. The pretender are a pretender holding the people back and the reason the rest of the races are laughing at us. Civilization ain't free and the worship of Trinimac got to be littered with the blood of traditionalists.

Use blue magika/health food, wards are shit now but you should still keep empowered/hardened ward slotted, put defensive rune on your offhand and cast it every 2 minutes and if you want to be extra safe slot radiant magelight on your main hand. At low levels all you want to really do is be able to survive getting jumped from stealth and then using bolt escape to get the fuck out of there.

Is there a good alternative to RaceMenu that has elf/ear manipulation? I could have sworn RaceMenu did that but it looks like that option was removed at some point. Here's some lore for you /tesog/. The player character is one of these paragon anu-aligned soul shriven. He/she has the daedra-like ability to reform themselves from the creatia of nirn itself. This ability is completely separate from having a soul (as is evinced from the main story), so even if you get your soul back you still get to reform, at least until the day that mundus is no longer in existential jeopardy.

What about reforming when you're in the planes of oblivion? Strictly speaking you should be reformed on nirn but I'm pretty sure you reform where you died for gameplay reasons.

Really depends on what you want to do with your character, but seeing vampirism leads me to believe you want to be magicka based so going all in on magicka would be your best bet.

All points in health used to be the meta when there was a soft cap on how much you gained.

Since they removed it you're generally better off either putting all in stamina or magicka. Health can be adjusted with enchantments.

After second era Orsinium got destroyed 4 times if I remember correctly, and one more time in the early 4th era.
Only recently are Orsimer trying to make Orsinium again but they moved it closer to Skyrim so it's between Hammerfell and Skyrim now.

When you soul trap a guy and use him up his magica storing body is used up in the ritual, hence why the stronger the creature is the "larger" soul it gets. Other parts of the soul are sent to Soul Cairn or gem aligned to whatever plane it was made in like Azuras Star.

Daedra lack Anuic remnant and have Azure Plasm instead of it which just lets them reform in Oblivion. Anuic remnant is the part that was most likely removed from you too and replaced with Azure plasm, though for one reason or another I think that Aetherial creatia also filled the void of Anuic remnant.

As for why you would want your soul back? Who knows, you essentially become closer to Ada like Pelinal and Daedra in this state but nothing suggests that this state is permanent after your soul does indeed return. I imagine that eventually once your soul is back in tact the "juice" will just sort of run out, there is no hole to be filled anymore.
Also the fact that you can't actually die might bum some people out, especially if you are into Lorkhan.

Eh I could craft/buy top tier gear with the base game. The dlcs to me are basically story and fluff. Basically if you're in a guild you can easily ask any crafter to craft you whatever gear you want once you give them the mats.

It have always been taboo to worship Trinimac outside of Orsinium. In both Daggerfall and ESO, Orsinium have been the only place you've seen it happen and both time it have been pushed by political leaders. So no one worshipping Trinimac in Cyrodiil or Skyrim isn't the slightest strange.
