Jesus christ, 180 damage to put those faggots down, on top of popping the drones. And even with ghost grenades, supression, shredder blaster launchers and smoke, I still had a major level sniper shot out of the sky and killed. They're hard to afford, and it really depends on what kinds of missions you're able to complete early on and what kind of loot you get. If you're lucky you might get landed craft or something with decent cash value. More likely you're looking at selling swag bags for 50k-200k along with any cheap captives you might get your hands on.

I try to grab a third one as soon as possible, it's usually affordable on your starting dosh if you didn't build any new buildings. Getting another barracks up pretty soon and workshop space to make some cash is more fiscally responsible, but getting ahead in tech to get a real aircraft or merchant access quickly is great if you can manage it.

If your experience is minimal, then I would go with a safer slow expansion. The game is really long and doesn't escalate nearly as fast as vanilla.

Employ the Commander/Colonel + dozen rookies for every mission that you think you'll have a lot of trouble on, like landed very larges/terror missions/base assaults. This way your guys won't panic when high ranking soliders die, which happens a lot on those missions where you're unprepared.

train up an elite team of operators on small/medium UFOs and other easy missions. Use them when you run out of rookies or when you REALLY need something to get done, like a terror mission on which your entire campaign hinges.

Honestly theirs not too much depth to the stats for base xcom. You want good aim, low bravery can be worked around, but soldiers are pretty cheap, so I prefer them to at least not be cowards.

High Time units and reactions make for good scouts. The way reaction fire works is that when you see someone it compares your reaction score to theirs. The reaction score is based on the units reactions, and how many time units they have left vs. the enemies reactions and how many time units they ended their turn with. If you have a lower reaction score, the aliens take a shot at you.

Beyond that, there's really not much more to say. Your tacitcs matter way more then individual soldiers. Soldiers operating alone die alone.

Autofire is the best fire mode period, at all ranges unless your worried about friendly fire. The few exceptions are when you have snipers set up with laser rifles since with full time units they can deliver to aimed shots pretty much guaranteed hits.

I think it makes the game easier. But it also makes the game way more fun and interesting. Using it wrong just screws yourself over. If you want to turn it off so you can complete a standard x-com run, go for it, it will just help you appreciate later.

When you get to any of the x-com overhauls, balance is thrown out the window. PirateZ is actually balanced around sprinting since items like alcohol , combat drugs, and medkits and actually be used to restore stamina.

So yes, it wasn't in the original x-com, and it will make the game easier if you are'nt retared. However its a fanstastic mechanic that fits so well, I wouldn't play without it anymore.

Strafing is also very useful due to the reaction fire rules. If two units spot each other at the same time, there is no roll for reaction fire. You can use this to round corners without instantly getting killed.

Oh and to get the weapon you need to buy it from Shen just like the normal plasma rifle(it requires the plasma rifle research too obviously), the only negative is that if you already used plasma rifles before and you put attachments on them they wont carry over to this gun when you buy it.

There's also stairs that let you get to the roof which are on the 3rd floor so its literally a mobile sniper's nest. On top of all this it can carry 18 crew members or 14 crew members and a tank with an auto cannon that deals 120 average damage and has 90 armor. Basically I feel reel base for your crappy 6 seater hover bus.

That didn't even occur to me, but unfortunately i don't think it's possible, i googled around and i didn't even see anyone talking about something similar, and unfortunately like i said i'm code illiterate so i couldn't even begin to imagine how to make that a thing.

If you have the sdk i could tell you how to change it yourself though, it's pretty easy to change the color or to set them off.

But an option in-game to change the color, set them low, on, or off depending on what kind of mission you're doing, i don't know how one would do that. Sorry.

Each faction favors certain kinds of weapons, so yes effectively.

These weapons aren't actually from a competing faction. You can find contacts with different regions that have their own specialty merchandise. So I recently established contacts within the EuroSyndicate so I can buy their cool lasers. I got this beauty from having contacts in the Asian local government, forgot what it was called.

A few details: Most of these soldiers were wearing the strongest possible armor, and were still taking damage very far away from the initial blast. 130 front armor + 80% explosives resistance. My ship has doors, so the first blast didn't hurt anyone. The second blast that was closer destroyed the door and killed two soldier inside with power armor.

After this test, I can conclude the weapons is actually usable on large map if you have access to a flying suit so you can reach a safe firing location. It literally is a UFO cracker. I could see you using this to simply destroy an entire UFO instead of trying to take it by force. Will have to consider this against the Star Gods in the future.

It can be lots of fun, but I generally find that I don't use the aliens a lot. Berserkers and Andromedon often break concealment by destroying some piece of the enviroment. Vipers can be pretty good as can MECs. Chryssalid are super fun at high levels, but they don't get Untouchable until Colonel for some god forsaken reason. Mutons are mostly shit unless you are abusing execute.

In all seriousness though i do think the way you update mods is flawed, because from the looks of it the moment you update, if someone is subscribed to the mod and is online it will instantly download the updated version. And one thing that happened to me several times today is that the thingy in the mod buddy would tell me it failed to update, but the mod page would act as if it did upload an updated version.

It would be better if you could make the updated version private before making it public, then you could download it yourself to test if it updated properly or not. And i'm almost certain that this is a thing that might happen pretty often, because looking at random mods on the workshop, if you click on the changelog or whatever, sometimes you'll see how they updated the mod within a span of a few minutes without writing any changes, even though other updates do have descriptions on what was changed.

That thing where it nuked my comment section and i couldn't comment just happened once though, and when i uploaded another update all the comments came back and i could comment just fine, but i googled that and it seems it's a thing that happens.

Also, every time i updated it would nuke my mod description.

Made it to March, I/I, EW. What am I in for? Got Zhang and a 6 man squad, 5 sats up and running with laser interceptors over NA and SA, and some neat troops thanks to hidden potential and training roulette. Something I've always thought would be cool would be a mission that ties into the "Resistance Informant" Dark Event. That is, XCOM is dropped into a resistance shanty to assassinate/capture the informant before ADVENT can evac them out. It'd be a like a Dark VIP mission, except that this VIP can shoot back, and he/she is try to run to a designated evac point while ADVENT swoops in and runs interference.

It would be interesting to see how it played out, if you did it wrong you would just kill the Dark VIP right away, but if you always put him behind a swarm of troopers, it wouldn't be much different then a Dark VIP mission is normally. Of course, you could make him pretty tough with good armor, but a weak weapon so you have to stick to him. Maybe even keep capturing still an option, but because he's a trained operative, you would have to weaken him first.

Hell I recommend you try it anyway, it's the one time in an XCOM game that I've felt like my squad was fighting in a fucking huge battle, with friendly AI fighters and enemy Lids constantly pouring into the fray.

And you need to run, not walk, to the evac point after a given period of time. And it's really far away and there's overwatching advent soldiers and MECs dropping micro missiles and it's a goddamn warzone.

I think the in-universe assumption we're supposed to make is that the timer counts down to when they air strike you, but hurr durr evil empire logic aside, it doesn't make sense that they'd air strike their own city centers when they could send in SWAT teams.

It is not a good feeling. It is a very bad feeling. Literally 20 million dollars down the drain, 40 engineers, 50 squaddies, a spy zepplin, all my advanced ship components, even a small store of plasma weapons. Also took months to build it.
