Cower and pray the rest of the squad are good shots with the remaining ammo left.

The problem is in the Defend the Haven mode you cant evac for 12 turns while waves of enemies are incoming. Every shot counts. Have to have real good fire discipline and not take low percentage shots. I had 3 members go winchester on me that mission - made it rough to survive. I lost the 4 scripted rookies that reinforce during the fighting.

There is no LW for 2 yet, no one has done enough of an overhaul type mod. That wont come for some time if ever. It's a weakness of the modding scene that everyone wants to be modular. It makes balancing difficult as its left up to the user to juggle.

Every time they update the mod with a new plot it's always a catastrophe. There's almost always holes in the map, cover not working or in their newest plot, which they removed, pods weren't showing up. And it always takes them 2-3 updates of the map to fix it.

Assuming you're on Normal, make sure you hunker down in half cover if your odds of hitting an Ayy are low.

Fuck Thin Mints, kill them with explosives or good aim.

You'll eventually have to go CLOSE RANGE? to capture an Ayy, so make sure you're well equipped to execute it if the attempt fails.

Make sure you spam satellites. To build satellites you need satellite uplinks. To build satellite uplinks you need engineers. Launch your sats at the end of the month to save full panic nations.

Snipers are extemely strong once they get squadsight, you just have to baby them till then. Explosives never miss. If you ever feel like your in a pickle (read, someone might die) don't hesitate to use your nades/rockets.

Oh yea I followed some of those, they were pretty comfy. The only thing is that what he did actually takes alot of effort. Playing the game and the taking the time to screenshot and then recap isn't easy. Alot of missions are pretty business as usual as well.
I won't promise anything, but if things are slow and I have a missions coming up that I think is interesting I'll consider posting them.

As for this particular picture, its actually a faction known as the Mercenaries. They employ the same synthetic fiber weave whatever nonsense orginal xcom mutons used for their armor. Its lightweight and has excellent resistance to piercing/ballistic weapons (.6 damage multiplier). They are extremely tough and have good melee skills as well, so sometimes they have daggers, axes, or mono-claws paired with pistols.

My first run in with them almost ended with the entire squad being killed, only 3 soldier survived. This time I brought energy weapons and was able to take them down relatively cleanly. I still don't mess with them too much because they usually have plasma weapons on top of their very good aim, reactions, and health.

Yep, Mutant Progroms. The Culling of the mutant population by different hostile factions.

PirateZ takes place in a universe where x-com failed, which if you've seen the defeat screen, most of the entire worlds populations are turned into mutants. "Pure" blood humans are now a minority. The earth is ruled by the ethereals through proxy by several major factions. Your just some rogue factions off to ruin the major factions days with your freedom, looting, and killing. Since your mutant pirates, your in an alliance with the Free Mutants, and purely buisness alliance with smuggles, and are paid protetction money by the local governments to not raid their stuff (which you still can if you want to).

I know if I try to hack that fuckin mec and fail both those packs will scatter. I don't think hacking the turrets to open makes sense either.

I ini tweaked the additional Icons a bit to just show me the enemies names no stats. I play without showing enemy HP or additional info on them.

Its kind of amazing when you can have a game that in the public eye is hard, difficult, and "hardcore," yet the game literally cheats in your favor on the standard difficulties. Blue flashlight, didn't bother making a unique one i just stole the default flashlight conventional weapons use and made it blue, why blue? Dunnolol.

As for the reticle thing i mentioned before, i got a response on the Nexus forums and this is what i was told:

Now, i don't know anything about anything but from what i can decipher from that is that changing the reticles is either impossible, borderline impossible, or not worth the time and effort.

I found a line in the script file thing that can change what reticle the weapon uses though, the line however just says

>Template.WeaponTech = 'beam';

Which isn't particularly descriptive, by changing it to conventional or magnetic you get the other reticles but i have no idea if that line changes anything else, i would want it to use the magnetic reticle but if it breaks something it'll have to stay using the plasma ayy looking one.

I also got this weird bug to deal with, for some reason it looks like a giant spotlight is aimed at the gun, just the gun when you go to the edit screen before a mission. The gun looks just fine once you are in a mission and even when you look at it in the armory, it's just when you are getting ready for a mission that this happens, so i dunno what the fuck.

I haven't been aiming at the UFO, its too close to my ship, though I'm pretty sure that it still would be unharmed. Fusion torches can cut through and those deal 225 dmg to a single point.

Baby nukes are like 120 explosive damage, but they have huge AOE and set everything on fire. Believe or not a mercenary already survived a blast that was only 5 tiles away.

Pretty much. The two barns are almost gone. Honestly I'm just kind of letting loose this mission. These things are rare, and I can't reproduced them. But I rarely have situations where they aren't overkill, or the map isn't open enough. I'm also using an upgraded minigun, UAC plasma guns, Canister launchers that fire acid rounds, a sniper rifle with acid rounds, and some Heavy Gauss, everyone else has laser Tommies.

As long as you think you can take them, I guess the smaller more heavily armed squad. Rookies can easily mob easy missions, but will probably struggle with such a small squad. On the other hand your definitely putting your vets at risk so your gonna have to decide how badly you want to complete both missions. Personally I wouldn't even bother doing a mission with a six person squad, but that's just me. I don't like taking casualties and there are always more missions.

And just like that its over. In three turns I kill one enemy unit, bang my head against a sectopod to no avail. Two crew members dies, one to sectopod plasma, the other to friendly fire from a mind-controlled friendly. I take a risk and wait an extra turn, but not before dropping everyone's weapons. I am rewarded with only having to leave two people behind instead of 3. I evac immediately afterward. Lesson learned, the Star Gods are still Gods for all practical purposes right now. They can blead, they can be killed, but unless I catch them in a small ufo its going to be a long time before I can face them head to head.

I think the issue is they want to keep it fairly simple for less hardcore players to pick up, while Long Wars panic system was nice it made a game a lot more complex and time consuming.

They did carry some the EU style panic system over, if you ignore a non-dark event mission in a region you lose the region when it expires similar to the 5 bar strike in EU but with only 1 bar.

You don't even necessarilly need the bonuses, or they could make the really good one quite expensive. The most important part is being able to generate at least some of your own missions, beyond the facilities and story missions.

I've been playing enemy within again on xbone ever since it went bc. the alien base assault is kicking my ass because there's like 40 god damn sectoids in the vivisection room. It's just the sectopods, really the first one I ran into on a supply barge skull fucked my not fully trained team, and the second one parked in the cockpit put all but two of the team in the ground. I just underestimated how much 30 hp and 50% damage reduction will go against plasma and alloy cannons.

I think the skill determines your bonus accuracy to the base weapon accuracy. The +30% does indeed mean it does less damage against armor (or armor counts for more).

Some weapons cut through armor, either ignoring it (-x% vs. armor) or damaging it (+10% armor damage)

Okay, here's were things get tricky, because I don't know all these mechanics and the wiki is a bit bare right now.

I believe the extra damage means it deals 75% of your damage of lethal. So if you hit for 100 stun, 75% hits for lethal as well.
I believe extra pain causes morale loss, though once again, take that with a pinch of salt.

Power bonus is definitely a direct damage addition.
If you really want to get more accurate answers, you should probably go ask in the PirateZ forums http://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/board,18.0.html. I just haven't bothered and stumbled through it myself.

Always move in groups, seriously never move in a group smaller than 3. Rocket HWPs will save you much grief in the early game. In fact massed explosives in general in the early game, explosive autocannon ammo in particular.
Rush lasers then set up a laser money factory in Antarctica. Exploit missions remaining as long as a flight is inbound to force your terror missions in daylight. If you don't think you can manage a terror mission it's better on your rating to go to it and instantly abandon rather than just letting it time out.

Notice that on you score screen you got negative score for the kills and hostages. You can't just indiscriminately go around killing and stunning everyone without repercussions. The negative score means you assaulted somebody from the mutants, rebels, or the local governments. If they are unhappy with you they will reduce funding, so watch out. That doesn't mean don't do it, you need the tech eventually, just be aware, and try to go for hostages if possible since those generate less negative score and yield more tech gains.

As for research, just start researching everything, there's just too much stuff to give a coherent path, and the kind of materials you'll have is going to be different every campaign according to who you spend most of your time fighting.

Wouldn't give it more than 300 meters, so just enough for entire map area in XCOM 2, and needs an actual arc to the target, projectiles can't bounce off floors, explode on impact, and what >>145973074 said. Talking XCOM wise, probably yes.
Talking syria wise? No idea what actually goes into production of mortar nor mortar shells, but a slingshot like that doesn't require any kind of propelant/explosive to launch the payload itself, so they can cram more of FUN to hit in general surroundings (aka 2-4 blocks, depending on wind speed) around the target they're aiming at if it's far away, probably better accuracy on closer targers, but still I wouldn't count on this actually hitting shit reliably.

Then yeah, looking at the shit they can manufacture, I mean come on, turning a fucking beefed up berserker/snek/archon into a suit of armor, and yet replicating a fucking bolt caster is too hard for them, I'd say a mortar is well within their capabilities, the only problem is effective usefulness of a mortar in combat situations due to shell travel time, game balance wise it should work similiar to blazing pinions of Archons, with the explosive hitting the next turn instead of same, but the explosion itself being 2-4 tiles (depending on mortar level) bigger than regular nades and have 3-5 extra damage, while taking up a regular grenade launcher slot for a grenadier, and rendering him immobile when he deploys it, plus no way to launch grenades manually, including throwing them due to them being made into mortar shells. I wish I knew how2mod.

Also this, it would be a reliable tool, but it'd still be a mortar, limited usefulness in small theatre of operations that XCOM2 works in, maybe more use on retaliation/convoy raids, and AVATAR reserach centers and such.

Mortars in openxcom are super fun. They are balanced by making it so they take an entire turn to fire, which means the next turn you can reload but won't have enough action points to reload.

It has a ark that means it can hit practically anywhere on the map as long as its not covered. Obviously not "realistic" but its effective without being overpowered. I also got some new rounds so that I can finally gas the ayyys race wars now
