With mines you can go pretty hard and still be very safe, honestly safer in the middle of a pack than outside it. Swap the conc effect for an inc aoe on trash and it's not TOO much worse. Not like it's going to be "fast" by any means, just not literal aids to map with.

If you don't care about being people, you can use whatever.
You're never going to escape being aoe though, it's too important to how the game actually works and plays. Even a dualstrike or flicker build is going to be slayer/use melee splash (or just use a real skill like EQ for non-bosses/tanky rares)

Thing is, you cannot clear endgame PoE the way you clear endgame D2, at some point you NEED AoE, the question is whether you want to waste a support using melee splash or just use a """melee""" skill with melee splash built-in. That being said, if you want a skill that you actually have to be MELEE with and not something like EQ/Reave, there are some like Static Strike, Dual Strike, and others. It is far and above ridiculous. For the small price of a ring slot, any melee physical build gains something like >60% free damage (i'm not confident on my math for degens.) This makes skills that were already ridiculous like EQ and warchief totems EVEN MORE stupidly strong, and you don't even need to scale the bleed or poison damage to get that. I'll concede the point, but skyforth is in a completely different rarity bracket, and can be reasonably expected to not take a highlight in a large number of usable builds. Voidheart is pretty easy to farm yourself, and not completely out of the price bracket (yet) for casual players, and probably one of the better purchases to just save for straight off the bat.

If you can't take one look at that ring and see it's not stupidly strong, you probably need to take some remedial math classes. If you're the kind of person who thinks every single slot needs to be a rare with t1 life and 2 res, with 1 >40%, then sure, there's opportunity cost. But you're not going to be doing red maps like that. One single slot for two more sources of damage that scale off your initial damage, that can't reflect, even accounting for high resist is >60% damage increase from one, ONE slot. If you assume a build has 1 slot for a statless unique, there is no reason to not have it be a voidheart. No other single unique will give that damage equivalency, unless it is some build enabling thing that causes your build to be literally nonfunctional without.

Not that guy but where is this 60% damage figure coming from? 60% extra damage assuming the bleeding target is moving, but that's per second, since bleeding does not stack. If you attack for 100 damage a second 5 times a second, your target is still bleeding for 60 damage per second, not 60x5. So the "60% damage" becomes "60/X% damage" if you attack X times a second.

Then you add poison which of course is a nice bonus but nothing you can really double dip as melee, with the exception of Less Duration which makes applying any significant amount of poison stacks impossible.

You want something that attacks slow and hard like EQ, and blasphemy Vuln to make the most of it. The math varies from build to build but I highly doubt it comes out at >60% extra damage, which would indeed be stupidly strong for one ring slot.

Bleed is 10% per second over 5 seconds, for 50%. Combined, it's "70%" extra damage of that single hit. This is a bit of an unrealistic scenario, but that covers the basic math (unless I fucked up somewhere.)
It is probably wrong to assume it will always be 60%, and probably wrong to assume that it is more than 60% frequently (unless there's shit like knockback or movement involved, as you mentioned.)
The best skill to take advantage of it is probably EQ, because the 2nd hit has a ton of more multiplier on the aftershock which scales the poison and bleed hits even higher. As >>145772360 said, you can use bloodlust on your skill or your totems or whatever as well.

Additionally as you mentioned, for builds (reave, etc) that rely on fast attacks, it's significantly less valuable (at least the bleed is). So, it's safe to assume that it's like 30-40% on average. That's still a pretty hefty chunk, I think. It's also pretty easy to scale those damage sources if you're hanging out in the area a typical reave build would like to be, like the fatal toxins cluster or force shaper.

I'm in act 2 of my first playthrough. Really enjoying it so far. But if I get framerate drops to ~30 when fighting some bosses, will my toaster be able to handle endgame action at a playable framerate? I'd hate to invest a lot of time into a game just find out that as my attacks get flashier and the bosses get bigger my PC can't keep up.

When people say CoC Discharge, I thought they include Voll's neck in their build. The defense difference between a 5L Voll vs. 6L is pretty huge too because 6th link's usually life leech as you absolutely do not need more DPS.

Belt of the deceiver is great for leveling, wear it til you find something better. you may have problems capping your res with it by merc.

facebreakers rely on flat damage on gear (due to it's massive % mult), which meginord's girdle has. Also the reason that Abyssus will triple your deeps with FBs
