the leveling is easily one of the worst parts of the game, in part because it's absolute bullshit until you get crossclass abilities. once you have them, everything becomes so much better, but that involves leveling two other jobs to a minimum of 12 and at most 34 (or 42 if you're crazy and want crossclass mantra).

it also doesn't help things that you decided to level lancer first, as lancer is the single most shit job to level, or at the very least tied with gladiator.

I don't know how they ever plan to move on from the old ARR gathering accessories. They really designed themselves into a corner, where you can hit 600 GP with the old level 50 gear, and they can't really let you hit many breakpoints above 600 because then the whole system sort of starts to fall apart.
