Once while ringing a resonant bell for Maria co-op I got summoned to a Living Failures fight. Problem was I spawned on the staircase to Maria's room, the door to the lumenflower garden locked from the outside. Skill is just for visceral attacks though, once you start using the transformed Chikage you never want to use the regular version again.
You can incorporate Simon's Bowblade too, but that's a church weapon.

So what's the deal with Mother Kos, or Kosm, or whatever you call that fishy Great one?
Why exactly is it a sea-related great one and what does it have to do with the cosmos? Was it already dead when it washed up on the shore or was it just sick and the hunters are the ones who killed/defiled it out of mercy/greed?
Also, why dosen't the Orphan have an umbilical cord? Did the hunters kill Kos and take it? Is that how Rom was "enlightened", by using the cord of the Orphan?
Sorry for all the questions, I've only recently played the DLC and am just now getting around to understanding the secrects behind it.

What's with any of the Great Ones, my dude? Bloodborne does its Lovecraft very well, and in the end, the exact motives or reasons for the actions, appearances or mere presences for any of these creatures is pretty much up for pointless speculation as the idea is you can never really know. I've played each to death in one way or another; Bloodborne none stop for over a year now, literally captivated by the moon. Halo 3 multiplayer throughout High school with mates, and vanilla and modded New Vegas when I moved out of home and bought my first laptop with my first paycheck from my first job.

Honorable mention to FF8 and Ninja Gaiden

In chalice dungeons the enemies with a red glow indicate that they were summoned by a bell person. Is it ever the case that some are just there for no reason? I've been wandering around Ailing Loran chalice and I cannot find the bell ringer and am tired of having 10 trillion spiders following me everywhere.

In Ailing Loran layer 2 there's a room with around 10 guys that drop 4k blood echoes each. Pop on any rune you have that increases blood echoes and you should come out of every run through there with around 70k or more.

Why does Arcane get such shit scaling. The Holy Moonlight Blade has an A, and with 50 Arcane, I get all of 70 AR for Arcane damage in scaling.

Bloodtinge builds are really cheese and require very specific weapons + gems that you won't get access to for a while. If you're a newb then just go for skill + vit + endurance. Use the cane as it's the best skill weapon for a long time. You'll want 16 str eventually for Ludwig's Holy Blade, which is the next skill weapon that you'll reasonably get to besides the saw spear.

Ludwig is wrecking me and reminds me of Paarl which I never beat on NG. Very small windows to attack and you need to stay mobile and dodge for 90% of the time
