It doesn't matter what they nerf. If SCH healing drops at all, groups will immediately push to have the main healer overcome the difference before the SCH will be expected to. And if the a6s nerfs say anything it's that they aren't going to try and force the off-healer to simply heal more through heavy raid damage because that's too hard for most people.

WHMs ARE better than SCH for 4mans, but that's mainly due to set up time. Holy + Assize + Aero III shits on SCHs AoE because they can't set it up quickly enough for it to matter before everything dies.

People like scholars because their fairy is MP free, shits out a ton of healing and utility, and they have great sustained DPS. If you take the fairy away, people argue that all it will mean is that WHM's will have to heal more, but I doubt that.

Fairy is too invaluable to just throw away and expect a WHM/AST to cover

WHMs have the highest dps and healing of all 3 healers, the issue with WHM is that its limited by their bad mp regen so they can't dps too much or they'll go out of mana pretty quickly. They're also limited to how their dps works, since most of their dps comes from stone III spam, they need to sit on cleric to dps, while scholars only really need to be on cleric to apply dots and go back to healing.

WHMs are only better on the pulls where they can unleash chain holy with assize and aero 3. Now that there are so many gated pulls(fuckyou yoshi), SCH is ideally better because it can have the same consistent DPS on every pull no matter what. Where as WHM is more suited to nuking down several large pulls because they won't have the resources to do that on every pull.

I think if they really nerf it, instead of just some token gesture, they will want to reduce the effectiveness of the job while in clerics, or somehow make it so that you don't spend 90% of every fight in clerics.

The real implication of that, assuming you're considerate and don't want to totally fuck over your WHM, is that DPS players are going to need to make up for the loss of the scholar's DPS. That puts the ball in the DPS' court, no more 75th percentile shitters passing checks because you've got a 90th percentile scholar.

I'm pretty sure you have to save mp for the Fire tornado phase or you are fucked specially because the AST can't carry that phase like WHM does. DPSing as as SCH drains your mp pretty quickly.

Outside of my opener, should I be saving Aetherflow stacks for healing and mitigation purposes until the cooldown is about to reset, then use them for Energy Drains?
When exactly should I be using Sacred Soil? is it worth it to use it for single raid busters like Bioarithmetics or should I use it only on short periods of intense raid damage like phase 3 Nignogg Akh Mhorn? Is it ever worth using just to mitigate tank damage?
What should I be saving Rouse for, if anything? Should I just use it on CD if nothing particularly demanding is coming, or should I save it just in case?
Is Emergency Tactics useful for anything besides doing the main healer's job for them?
Should I ever use Dissipation to help the main healer through tough parts, or is it just for when they die?

What's even worse is that 90% of the ASTs you look at out of the 30, if you go to their page, they have clears on WHM too. Their first clear (maybe even first few) is with WHM.

Even LESS people are running AST for progression. Most ASTs on that scoreboard are in a group that's already farming A8S. Often times, their fastest WHM clear is far faster than their AST clears too. It speaks even more for the state of the job.
