another thing would be using blocking bats, this one works in multi too real damn well. because they are dirt cheap take 4, use them to rearcharge skirmisher cav/archers and bind them from running away from your slower and deadlier black knights, the last 3 multiplayer matches I did this worked 100% of the time, scrub empire lad lost all his outriders for 1 unit of bats.

also use distraction bats to eat the charge of a high value unit, by flying them to countercharge lets say demigryphs(from the side preferably) while they were charging my seemingly 'side facing' black knights they were tangled up for enough time for me to swing around and get 2 cycle charges before they derped and started macroing them/

basically bats are goat, keep some in reserve for chasing cav and a few directly helping your cav for binding and you will laugh at your 300 points spent to remove 2000point artillery/3lots of horse archers/.

The reinforcing in TWW is pants on head retarded. Before TWW the direction seemed to be about right when you compared the positions to the campaign map, but in TWW I've had several instances where 2 of my stacks stand right next to each other, and the enemy has 2 stacks standing next to each other, and my second stack ends up coming from behind the enemy and their second one comes from behind me. Not only is it annoying as fuck and inconsistent, but it also makes army specialization dangerous as hell (for example, having 2 stacks together as the Empire with one filled with melee units and a general with melee unit buffs, and one with ranged units and a general with ranged unit buffs).

No matter how many provinces I conquer, no matter how much I turtle and build growth/economy buildings, and even with 1 good army and two or 3 of meat I can never fucking get more than 2500+ for more than a few turns. Its fucking retarded. I have to sit for six turn or so just to afford to build anything, and then another six or so to recruit any kind of useful units.

The only faction I ever had a massive economy with was as the Orcs, Grimgor was shitting out 20,000 gold per turn easy, and that was with four doomstacks and two lesser armies.

Can't even recruit agents to sit idle for the rest of the game at homebase because it takes so long and costs so much to even recruit them. This is as both Dwarves and Empire.

Its a bug apparently. Needs to be fixed really, I had a battle in the pass between the Border prices and the empire against 2 chaos armys vs my two greenskin armys. Both the Lord of Changes and Grimgors armys reinforced from my flank at the EXACT same spot, making it a clusterfuck. And turning what could have been a fun battle into a annoying mosh pit in the corner as the Stupid everwatcher got tickled by a troll and died.

This has happened since the first Rome, the only difference is that Warhammer never gets it right where Rome/mw2/etc only fucks up like 25% of the time

Probably at least 8 full stacks from what I can see.
What's the best anti-Dwarf stack?
I've mostly been getting by with a mix of Shield Chosen, Great Weapon Chosen, and a couple Chaos Spawn units for flavour.
In the rare circumstance where I can get away with spending 2 turns encamped, I'll build like 6 Chaos Knights too.
It works out okay but I do tend to lose a fair amount just working through their numbers.
Especially my Great Weapon Chosen soak up the most losses mostly, despite the fact that they're the ones running around to flank and back attack usually...

Before TWW it was such a marginal problem I never even really gave it a second thought, an army that was roughly to the side of my stack would come from somewhere on that side in the battle map, but in TWW it can appear from any direction making it impossible to plan accordingly. Not only does it hurt the player, it can also make hard battles way too easy. In my Empire campaign I was attacked by Mannfreds full stack + a half stack that was behind him on the campaign map. Had the second stack arrived from the correct direction I could have lost the fight, but instead they showed up in my deployment zone which meant I got to butcher them easily while their main stack ran full speed towards me and thus lost all coherence.

Not him, but half of the Empire roster are just different types of warmachines. Haven't played TT in a decade, but at least back then Empire also had free companies, archers, flagellants etc. Dwarfs for example have more units in TWW than they had when I still played TT.

Get Gyro Copters Nerd. They are fast enough to fly in and give them a taste of close air support and explosive death.

Alternately, take it like a Dwarf, and just march straight up and slap their shit.

At some point they might grace us with "Dogs of War/Regiments of Renown" units so you can fill gaps like that, or that might be a long term mod project.

For that matter it would be fun to just go whole hog and have them as a playable faction, at least in skirmishes.

Dunno about weather/time conditions. I'm not fussed to be honest. Wouldn't mind if it was implemented at random especially if rain had an effect on troop movement speed and ranged.

Worst thing about esports/competetive communies is that they suck the fun out of the game. Can't have any asymmetry on a map, no rng and all units have to be completely reduced to a mathematical value. If they had their way each faction would be a reskin of another and all like units stats would be exactly the same and maps would be flat as fuck boring surfaces.

The more random elements at work the more problem solving you've got to do is how i see it.

Hoping this magic lord sniping shit gets nerfed a bit or spells with potential for great damage should really have some repercussions for the caster.

Well if you're trying to get rebellions going then sacking has a purpose. Generally speaking sacking gives about as much money as holding the settlement for a few turns and unless I'm mistaken it lowers the tier of the city/town building meaning if you do plan to take it any time soon you'll just need more population.

for fighting early-game empire armies, swordsmen and crossbows do fine because your enemies have little armor, a couple of spears are okay but no-one has anything but pistoliers for a while so spearmen aren't good for much unless you start fighting Brettonia or anything that starts popping out cavalry or monsters or something. You should be able to get halberdiers fairly quickly to fight armored units and cavalry and stuff, they're pretty much an upgrade to spearmen but you can't give them shields and they're more expensive, naturally. A couple of handgunners are good, especially against things with armor, so as Chaos starts rolling in with armored units, or Vampires get grave guards, or Empire and Brettonia start using their higher tier units, you'll want to rely more on greatswords, halberdiers, some handgunners (they can be a bitch to micro if you have too many), some outriders are okay. Empire artillery isn't incredible, but getting a couple of cannons is nice. And rockets are fucking fun, I don't care what anyone says about their cost effectiveness. Firing like 20 rockets at a group of massed infantry is one of the best things about Empire. Besides demigryphs and steam tanks, which you should also aim to get in late game, because along with greatswords, they're basically the best units.

Depends on how many infantry there are and what mount you're using.

On foot, Franz can rek near enough anything and is a great duelist, you'll seeing him send tens of niggers flying with his hammer, but obviously he's slow without a mount, he can get bogged down and cut off from the rest of the army easily.

Horse mounted, franz is best used alongside cavalry, the only advantage to a horse/pegasus mount is their speed and maneuverability, they'll get eaten alive in crowds of infantry alone.

Deathclaw mounted Franz is an absolute monster vs crowds of infantry but is generally a pretty bad duelist.

I say deathclaw's a sub par duelist because deathclaw seems to be terrible at actually picking out a single lord and fighting them amidst a crowd of enemies. Deathclaw is just too bulky for the job and his attack animations usually throw him way off target, forcing you to micro him back to the lord you want to fight.

It's pretty fun, mind you I still got raped in all of my battles, but that's when you're not playing against the Empire or Bretonnia. Though, the empire can still be fun to play against when they're not 19 witch hunters.

anyway here are a few tips if you need them for chaos in mp:
use a few marauders in spaghetti lines as meatshields to absorb arrows and charges
forsaken are weak in most match ups because they have no armour pen, they do pretty well against vamps since they rip their meatshields apart very quickly
dont use more than 2 halberd units, put one behind the main line and another on one of the flanks
death lore is the only one worth having
when fighting brets and/or VC dont put your general on a flying mount
trolls arent worth it
demigryphs kill any of your monsters so always try to first bog them down with some marauders, and only then send your own cav/monsters is

I been playin dwarfs more or less exlusively because they're the only campaign I've beaten and without cavalry they require less micro. I don't think slayers are that bad. They're the closest thing dawi have to cavalry and they don't break. I like to keep em in reserve and counter charge anything sent to take out my artillery, buys them some time to bombard. If that doesn't happen I flank with them and they slap some shit.

They're too expensive for what they do but that's pretty much the whole dwarf roster aside from longbeards and quarrelers.

Gelt isn't that bad, he's just pretty shit compared to Karl. Some of his spells are really fucking good. But on the other hand, you could also just get a wizard or two. Course, all you have to do to get Karl is confederate once, so it's actually a lot easier to start Gelt then get Karl than the other way around. But yeah, Karl is a fucking glorious killing machine, Gelt can't really compare even though some of his spells are pretty fun. I really wish final transmutation would actually turn the enemies it kills into golden statues though, rather than just fucking killing them. Deathwing isn't really an apect of how you build him, mounts aren't a part of the progressive skill trees, they're just a thing by themselves.

But I think getting Lightning Strike and then going down the red tree is the superior option.

Also get Molay's magic mod, all magic (Except Death) is awful without it, once you get it playing with Gelt is really fun.

You can throw a buffed Karl/Grimgor/Ungrim into three enemy units and he'll tank them like nothing. And as opposed to three of your infantry units, they won't block line of sight so you can still shoot and minch them to save him some time.
If you then add the ability to rape enemy lords or at least go toe-to-toe with them, there's little to no point to go for the Red buffs first.
They're good in late-game for Magic using lords but in the early game your Legendary Lord and his Elite retinue is what's going to win you battles.

Pistolkorps, Emperor's Finest and Mighty Forge are the best skills in the red tree by FAR because those are the ones that will actually matter mid-late game.

You're not getting points in the red tree early game anyway since anyone with a brain rushes Lightning Strike because that skill is broken.

12% Weapon Strength on Greatswords and Ward save on Demigryphs and Steam Tanks are FAR more impactful than making a lord hit slightly harder, because those 3 units should compose half or more of every stack once you can support it.

Sometime I do that, usually I don't. It feels far too cheap, honestly. I usually don't get Emperor's Finest AND Might Forge, because with Emperor's Finest you can focus more on Greatswords, and get Reiksguard or Empire Knights for cavalry, and some halberdiers for anti-large armor piercing. My armies don't usually consist of 100% top tier units, even late-game. So Honest Steel continues to be useful, as a lot of my armies continue to have halberdiers and even swordsmen in them, depending on how many I have and what I require to beat which enemy that army happens to be up against. No point wasting greatswords on savage orc stacks. I don't use pistoliers or outriders enough for Speed of Horse to be of any use, and the bonuses aren't that good anyway, I rarely use more than 2 handgunners, and I rarely have more than 4 crossbowmen unless I feel like a ranged specialization army. Honest Steel is just better considering what I use. It becomes less useful late game, but by that point you're already winning so it doesn't matter so much.

Also, rule of cool. This isn't a competitive game and I'm not playing on legendary, so sometimes I feel like just making my lord super powerful. I don't just spam greatswords, demigryphs, and steam tanks. That's not as fun.

Greatswords slaughter pretty much anything they fight. You don't hire them to hold, your cavalry is there for flanking charges to lower leadership, not for damage. Most of the low tier dwarf units are actually just more efficient than their lategame. Hammerers are pretty decent anti-armor, gyrocopters can harass shit against enemies like chaos and vampire counts, and slayers are kinda shit. Sort of like cavalry without the horses. Irondrakes are meh but pretty fun to use imo, though they're mostly only good for getting high kill-counts against zombies and skeletons. Ironbreakers are some of the best infantry in the entire game, and excel at disrupting enemy charges and formations with their blasting charges, and can hold most enemy assaults for extended periods of time. They're your go-to.

Longbeards are just sort of better tier 1 units without much change. I sort of like throwing in a couple longbeards just to keep the leadership of my army high, though I'm not sure how "crucial" that is.

In my opinion flamethrowers aren't that usual and torpedo launchers can be good for taking down large monsters but they're optional. I like to have one or maybe to gyros to take down enemy artillery but overall they're pretty lackluster.

Ironbreakers also have the same charges but the units themselves are many times more useful. I guess the miners could be used if you're short on cash but I'd rather have another quareller.

Early game the miners with the blast charges are pretty good in a ranged heavy army if the enemy doesn't have much cavalry. A stack with a bit less than half being miners with blast charges and the rest being ranged infantry/artillery and the enemy usually breaks before managing to do anything, but during mid game when units with higher leadership and armor start showing up they become worthless.

But if the enemy army attacks you you get to wipe out most of the reinforcing garrison in a field battle. That is far better than having to assault. You should be able to defeat a single stack+ garrison easily in a field battle as long as you don't have mostly early game units. If you do, you shouldn't attack walled cities anyway.

Not a single human life was lost, Chaos crusade buried under a tide of skellies.

I tried a Oda campaign earlier. By turn 27 Shimazu declared war on me (while being a 4 province 'empire' on the other side of the island) while I was fighting Hattori, two of their allies and Hojo.

Oda starts very weak and shares borders with stronger clans.

Takeda, Imagawa, Hatori etc. Expect constant war. It's a good thing you have Spartan-tier Ashigaru so it's ok.

But I quickly killed Imagawa and their vassal. It was probably because I had to fight brutal defensive sieges leaving my stack heavily depleted and dumping down my power ranking.

Takeda wasn't so bad because I managed to ally them. Now they're at 26 provinces and have declared war on me, it is going to be a bumpy ride.

the mortar is obviously useful in sieges or against ai since the ai just swarms into blobs and moves forward but the actual damage they put out is poor compared to even a rock lobber. The hellblaster has a specific use (just behind infantry) but in that capacity it does decently.

Rush for Black Orcs and Big Un's.

Get trolls or a giant for flanking/hammer n' anvil, Orc cav is too hideously slow to be effective. Goblin wolf cav is the only cost-effective cav and then only for killing unguarded archers and chasing down fleeing units.

Get a doomdiver to kill enemy artillery and snipe dangerous units.

Goblin shaman spamming sneaky stabbin for dat delicious armour piercing attack is one of the most useful spells, offensive spells suck for all races.

Get night gobbo archers with fanatics and put them out in front of your army and watch enemy shock troops get shredded and poisoned just as they enter charge range.

Put all skill points into Grimgor's melee tree. Watch as he decimates entire units and multiple enemy lords.
