Was invading in the spot after Pontiff and I came across 2 guys, 1 red with the hollow ring and the host. They both had Undead Legion armor on and they both used Farron Greatswords. The red came at me first, and after a brief period of time the host came after me as well. They were super aggressive and it seemed like they didn't care if they hit eachother. It was bonkers.

I don't even think you need to build in ds1, just google the softcaps and pick the class which has the lowest number of stat points allocated to the things you don't intend to level. Resistance is the exception, since your initial resistance doesn't increase your starting soul level. Don't level it though.

So I think I've misunderstood the bonuses from hollow infusion. I know it scales off dex/luck, but do you actually need to have levels of hollowing to receive +5 luck from each weapon equipped or is it a natural bonus you get when the weapon reaches +10?

No it doesn't. There are 3 required statues, fix those statues and you can progress through the game in a nonlinear fashion. Anything hidden behind other statues is just a reward for exploring and finding more branches.

pretty much my only problem with ds3 is that there isnt as much stuff you can't get in a single playthrough than in ds1. covenants have no penalties and shit.

in ds1 if you want all the weapons all the spells all the quests you go through most of the NGs and its still fun because theres so much stuff

patch destroyed that tactic because it was built on active r1 mashing to catch your opponent on rolls after they deplete their stamina against your shield
they can still try to use only r1-r1 combos but it's way effective and countered by entire weapon classes like halberds that won't let you into their attack range at all or hyperarmor rape you on poke attempt
also offhand moveset robs them from rolling and running attacks which were an excellent roll catchers

As for Yhorm, he is of the Giants and stepped up when Drangleic invaded either AL or the PC or both (PC seems to have been under Irithyll even during Sulyvahn's time, no idea what's up with that). At first some stuff in his item descriptions made me think that Drangleic was built on or merged into AL, but some cut content makes me think that's not the case. That same cut content, the Varangian set to be specific, and the Drang item descriptions leads me to believe that Aldia was the first human to figure out the true nature of the Flame and that he disseminated that information throughout the human world, inspiring some to seek an end that was neither light nor dark, hence Aldrich and the deep.

He's right though. Straight swords are easily twice as good as any other weapon class in PvE. You are literally handicapping yourself by using something else.

It's pretty clear From designed the PvE game and balanced it around straight swords and then added in the other weapon classes as an afterthought.

It's the second best weapon from one of the best categories. I have no idea how you could be so fucking stupid as to think it's bad. It's only a little weaker than Exile GS but has bleed and weighs much less.
