Have you noticed how GGG make progressively "safe" decisions in terms of new content? There's less and less "extreme" stuff and what is extreme gets the Nerf bat until it's "slightly about casual."

split arrow is good. blast rain is an option but if split is effective for you right now, it won't be a huge improvement. bow builds are kinda balls until you manage to get a very good weapon or at least a build-enabling one

frostbolt self cast with vortex spell totem didn't work
then I switched them around and that does work.
