Wow this has some really silly characters...
I realize that Asuka is only half-blooded, but they didn't have to make the voice actor speak Japanese in such a terrible accent. It's also pretty annoying to hear her say Haijme-kun in that voice, especially continuing to do so even when talking to the MC directly. On the other hand, having a literal weeaboo saying things like 大日本帝国万歳 unironically in a 1946 setting is pretty hilarious.
I wanted to like the tea shop manager but she ended up being a jealous trash osananajimi. In the end, the girl in overall shorts had the best voice anyways but half her sprites looked weird.
I wonder what the appeal of this VN was. I hope it wasn't the endings where the heroines get brutally raped and murdered.

It's not that S;G is overrated, it's that most people enter the vn scene reading S;G, KS, or FSN. Being one of their first vn they think it's the best thing since slice bread. They talk loudly and ignorantly about it being the best. I used to think that Rewrite and FSN were the best VNs at the time because they were the first long vns I ever read. I didn't realize how invested I would get after spending 50+ hours with these characters and stories. Now looking back, Rewrite had lots of problems and a bad translation, so did FSN. They are still good but I may have tooted the horn a little too hard at the time, typically the more I read the more tempered my opinions get. Then again maybe I'm just projecting.
TL:DR, Babies first gets over praised but it's still good.

As an aside, I still enjoyed Rewrite a lot, even if the translation was shoddy. At the time I thought Rewrite was the best VN ever and was not even aware of the issues. And deep down I still think of it fondly. Kotori is still my waifu, I can criticize the translation, story, and writing and still love it, because I'm not insecure about my hobby. Just because Ixrec is a hack does not invalidate my enjoyment of Rewrite because without his shit translation I would have never read it at all.

Are his translations subpar? Absolutely.
Do we EOPs care? Not really.
He translated VNs no one else does and he was the fastest speed translator out there a few years back. Plus his translations were more than legible and were good enough to enjoy the VN. For that reason, I appreciate the guy, especially when I acknowledge the fact that the majority of his errors come from the fact he was a speed translator who often translated massive VNs no one else would touch, like Muv Luv and Rewrite. The only translation that was so rife with errors that even an EOP could notice was Cross Channel.
Also everyone loved Ixrec, including Moogy, until around 2011 when Moogy made it his personal goal to shit on Ixrec as much as he could because he was salty about being banned from Ixrec's forums because he was shitposting like a child and spoiling Cross Channel.
Also most of Ixrec's translations are better than Moogy's translation of Sharin no Kuni.
If you're an English only peasant, you shouldn't have any misgivings about reading Ixrec's translations. yeah, you're getting a subpar experience, but really who the fuck cares so long as you enjoy yourself? If you're not willing to learn Japanese than Ixrec's translations are more than adequate and something will always be lost in translation (especially with languages as different as English and Japanese) so you're always going to be missing out on something by being an EOP.

It depends on your standards. If you are like that anon from yesterday and are willing to eat any trash, you can read through the 400 tl'd VNs and that's pretty much a decade of reading. But if you have higher standards, aren't willing to read early 2000s era nukige, or moege cum nukige, or games with butchered translations, and so on, then even as a normie with many hobbies the current selection of games is pretty limited. And even if you relax your standards and eat all the shit, you'll still be forced into a narrower selection that otherwise would be possible. I personally always recommend that people read Tsukihime before F/SN, that way you won't be as bothered by the worse production values and you won't go into the VN with the wrong kind of expectations.

Finished Chaos;Head.
I didn't dislike Takumi, but the scenario was just weird. The game started off fairly interesting with the murders and whatnot, but they didn't even matter in the grand scheme and it was just like "lol this nurse did it". Then it devolved into some power of friendship saves the day shit with sword fighting. Oh well, I only really wanted to read it in time for the Chaos;Child anime. Verdict: 5/10, probably not recommended.
Oh and if anyone is curious, I tracked my time playing it and it was 14~ hours. For comparisons sake my Kindle says it'd take me 12 hours to read Dune (830 pages, word count of 210k and fairly dense). Not really related but I thought that was was interesting.
