Both DLCs are very much worth playing. Heart of Stone has an amazing quest line. I haven't completed Blood and Wine, but thew new region is certainly a welcome addition.

I'm currently running a game as in have had only one session yet where my players are playing a witcher from the Cat School and an "average guy who is an assassin but otherwise nothing special" who wants to gouge the eyes out of the people he kills as proof because eyes on their own are totally easily identified as belonging to whoever they belonged to and a third guy who's MIA
None have read the books but they have played the first two games and the first chapters of the first two games respectively
None of them browse /krw/ and I'm very tired so I'll just bluntly say that it's harder than it would seem to have to do with plebs who barely know how the setting works and have to be reminded that the village was burnt to the ground while one of them was fucking around in the woods for 30 minutes real time and the other almost killed during the raid because paying attention when you're not being talked to directly during the game because someone else is in the spotlight for a minute or even when being told directly that you see dead bodies strewn all over the place and the buildings now being nothing more than burnt logs and planks vaguely set up in house shapes is apparently too much to ask of the average person. Sorry for the autistic rant

1) Is all loot random?
2) Where do you get those witcher gear maps from? Is it pre-defined merchants in the world, or is it a chance to appear on a merchant sort of deal?
3) Do different merchants deal in different prices? For example, do people in Novigrad give me more money for shit than peasants in Velen?

The thing that got me the most was when the "assassin" guy went up to the alderman to ask him if he had seen [Potentially Plot Related Man] and when I then asked him to describe the man (who also happened to be the only character that had gotten any physical description beyond his attire and general build) to double check whether or not he had been paying attention to the game, he just went: "You know my memory is terrible" and didn't bother even trying to recall the short description
Supposedly he has been playing another game with another group for years and still counting but despite that, he hasn't worked out a way to make up for his lack of ability to remember 9-word long descriptions like "dark, slicked-back black hair and ornate, black leather tunic" for longer than 20 minutes
If I'm met with the same approach, and amount of enthusiasm and engagement, of the average MMO next session, I will consider just scrapping the game since it won't be worth the effort (might just be hubris speaking but who knows)

This was such a bitch. It's all about luring everyone to one end of the arena, then dashing to the other end. The melee enemies will follow faster than the mages, so you can attack them for a while without worrying about the mages. Repeat once the mages get close enough.

I love Anarietta and Syanna, both survived in my ending and I'm happy about it. I actually wanted them to reconcile without even knowing there is an option to get that ending. I would have probably spared Dettlaff but he crossed the line near the end so he had to die. All in all, feels good.

Checked every merchant, did every quest and side area, pretty sure I nabbed them all, even the duplicates. But this fucking nobleman in the palace after meeting Yen is loaded up with hero cards and keeps doubling his row strength and I just can't keep up. Am I supposed to even bother with him now? I can bluff him down a gem to tie 1-1 but he just has too much behind him to even imagine and after managing to tie a nilfgard deck, which is still a lose I'm not sure what to do here.

buy cards from every merchant you see. the yellow gwent games in the dialogue are for unique cards and the players and the players are usually really good. there's nothing you can do at the start since their cards are all worth easily double what yours are.

the ai for gwent is pretty bullshit too. I just play on easy because playing on hard or even normal the ai can read you hands and I'm pretty sure their hands are whatever the fuck they want them to be.

Milton was a shit. I liked him in the beginning but if you pay attention the truth about him is a lot more subtle.

The first clue was him just wanting to slaughter the bandits instead of giving them a chance to repent, which showed a lack of compassion, a knightly chivalric value which the other knight didn't lack.

He escorted Syanna out into the woods to die and did absolutely nothing while the other knights beat her blue. He never went out of his way to even offer her any food or anything.

He didn't care. He's a cunt. The other guys like Crespi were more monstrous but he was still a cunt. And there's no cure for that.
