Yeah I'm not really into the whole purple-prose thing, a funny short story actually.

A short while ago I was in an RP linkshell and there was someone in it asking for someone to RP with them, they described themselves as an "experienced" rp'er and that this would be their first rp in FF14, so I agreed

I met them in the Quicksand and they really made a lot of mistakes

1) They gave NO hooks, openings, or invitations whatsoever, their character was sitting in a public place reading a book, turned away from everyone, with seemingly zero interest in the world around them

But whatever, I knew this was their first time in this game, so I forced an opening

2) They had absolutely nothing of substance to say about anything, they talked about nothing interesting at all, their character had no opinions, no thoughts, like the player was so afraid of alienating me that they were speaking but the character wasn't saying anything

I shrugged this off and fed them opinions and thoughts to ground them, using dialogue to inform them of the world around them as we went, perhaps they just didn't know much about the lore or setting yet? But then...

3) Way too much purple-prose, this is the one that informs me that this "experienced roleplayer" is most likely someone who writes or reads a lot of fanfiction, because I'm not kidding you, every action they took, even in complete absence of dialogue, had 2-3 full paragraphs of highly detailed description and imagery, and sometimes it would be paced so that they'd use it as replacement for dialogue cues, which is how you write a novel, not how you roleplay, due to roleplaying just being an exchanging of actions and dialogue

As soon as I saw the ridiculously over-the-top purple prose, I knew this person was going to wear themselves out in an extremely short period of time and probably call it quits, and sure enough, they "d/c'd" 5 minutes later, and I haven't seen them since

I saw that post, but I'm not really sure whether I expect anything to come of it. I really don't see how they'd manage to make spiritbonding an attractive option for crafters. The rates on Tier V materia from i170 gear are abominable even if you were spiritbonding them cheaply, and I don't think there's a point where they could make the current red scrip materials cheap enough to be worth the cost, unless they completely removed the entire system of Favors/scrip tokens (rather than just making them cheaper).

Then again, like you said, there's really no risk, given how cheap the materials for those recipes are.

Yeah, the V materia rate is terrible and supposedly the MSQ will give everyone one V crafting and one V gathering materia in 3.3 so that will make the significantly more accessible anyways making spiritbonding even less profitable since the market will be "flooded" with them at some point.

But I managed to buy up about 1.3k (anything under 500gil) of the items on my server for under 20k so the only real risk involved is that I'm down 13 bag slots till 3.3, more if people list more.

I wouldn't be surprised if they decided the way to make crafting materia more accessible was the i150 gear had a 90% chance to be a IV materia 10% chance to be a V,and i170+ was a 90-% chance of V materia 10% chance of IV. SE loves their grinds.

I crafted every i170 mainhand and offhand except for the BSM mainhand(i180 bought first), the LWR chest, the ARM chest, the i170 crafting belt, the i170 gathering right side and i170 gathering belt.

I craft cause I want to help people out and to save up for comfy ishgardian housing that will probably never come till 3.5 or something.
It sucks when I see people stop playing and while I do shit with them out of the game, its disheartening at times.
It's a shame cause the crafting system in this game is one of the few I've loved in all mmo's.

They should have just left them out of dungeons/tomestones entirely, IMO, but made them available (at REASONABLE prices) through both combat and gathering Diadem spoils, and then gone ahead and made them into drops from the enemies there.

That ship's probably sailed, though, so I think the next-best alternative would be to make them purchasable with Blue Scrips, at basically the same cost/rate that you can buy Loaghtan Filets and Golden Apples. Then make the old Red Scrip Tokens just trade in directly for the materials, 1 token for 15 of them, accepting both the Crafting and Gathering tokens.

Same, I was iffy on the gameplay when I started when my friend convinced me to join but I got suckered in by the crafting mechanic. I had every crafting class maxed out by the time my trial ended and I had all crafting classes 50-52 before I even did Steps of Faith(I started roughly 10 months ago).

I have a medium house(Plot 4 Mist master race) and more money than I know what to do with no I'm not going to sell gil and the majority of the people in my FC and static are ungrateful bastards I don't enjoy crafting for.

When I say "at reasonable prices" I mean to fix whatever broken shit they've got going on with the Steel Spoils.

Like, 1:1 Steel Spoils to any current red scrip material, and probably a bump in the drop rate of Steel Spoils. 5:1 rates on Brass Spoils to the scrip materials, and have the materials also drop randomly, with a few materials coming from a Star, 100% chance of one from a V, 75% chance from a IV, 50% from a III, etc.

I just finished the gordias dummy cause i've been thinking about raiding for a little while.Had 40 seconds on the clock left, with ilevel gear of 217.
This website I found said that means I did an average of about 1400ish DPS, is that good? Got my 210 weapon a couple of days ago and am now working on the 230 one.

I like the rotation i've got so far, in which I put up three dots first and then DK, and then work on usual 1-2-3 stuff, with ogcds mixed in.
Would it have made a big difference if I had bought food/potions beforehand?

Partially incorrect. The only time you wanna use Fracture as a MNK is to pad out your GCD for one of two reasons: either you're at the end of your combo and Demolish still has roughly 5 seconds left on it, OR you're unable to hit a positional for xyz reason.
Back in ARR, MNK actually used Fracture quite a bit due to Demolish timers not lining up properly. in HW, Fracture is no longer used anywhere near as much. You'd use it maybe 3 times a fight in total, depending on circumstances.

If you're actually using Fracture in your opener, then your opener probably sucks. That'll cost you a lot of DPS on top of all the other GCDs you're spending on Fracture during a fight. Fracture has its uses, just don't use it all the time.

Fracture doesn't specifically suck, it's just that it's far too expensive a DoT to actually justify constant usage along with Demolish and Touch of Death. It costs 80 TP and only ticks 6 times, vs Demolish costing 50 TP, ticking 7 times and having +30 potency per tick over Fracture.
Touch of Death costs the same amount of TP but ticks 10 times at +5 potency per tick over Fracture, making it far more cost-efficient.

Basically, it's an issue of TP more than anything else. Fracture's not BAD per se, but it's incredibly expensive, especially considering how quickly MNK burns through TP during most fights.
