I've played through SoC atleast twice, once unmodded, once with LURK.

Now I'm just itching to play through all the other ones as well, but starting with SOC.

I'm at a stand-still on which mod I should play SoC with, since I just want graphical mods and more spooks. Extra mechanics and stuff are a plus, but they don't really matter.

It plays fine and I havn't any issues, I mean I am using a makarov which is probably a piece of shit against guys that look armored and have rifles and shotguns.

Guys can go down really easily if you hit them in the head, but it really turns combat into this slow tense fire fight that you really need to think through.

If I had a decent weapon and some bandages and med kits, I might be able to do it. I've tried hanging back but wolfs guys eventually get fucked. It's strangely addicting because at this point im going to pull my hair out if I can beat the first bandit farm in the game.

That was the one I was stuck on so long.

So long story short I was able to eventually kill all the bandits after picking up an SKS, still died a couple more times though. Got a shitload of different weapons off all of them too, but barely any ammo.

I messed around with the ammo system a bit which I really like, I know someone posted a list of other mods that used the ammo system in the last thread, so I'll have to go find that.

I only had 1 crash so far, but I am not really sure if I want to continue. I got injured by a cat really bad and for some reason med kits werent working?

Little suggestion for weaponsoup: since it will definitely get itemsoup integration at some point, with possibly even more items added to the mix, why not add another trader to every faction, that sells exclusively scopes and inventory clutter? That would be a way of getting rid of the annoying bug without having to set up trader files in a contrived way, at least for the time being, which means saving time.

Keep going, I know lots of people give it shit, but I honestly enjoyed my time with it. It gets much easier after the car park and you get an automatic weapon. Once you get past the bullshit it genuinely is enjoyable, also to solve your problem, the medkits split up into separate healing items instead of healing you instantly for some goddamn reason. Ignore what some of the other anons said, I've been playing it recently and my save has not been corrupted at all yet, even though I quicksave after just about every single enemy I kill and I'm up to the red forest now. Outside of crashing/corrupting problems other anons have talked about, everything else they are talking about is correct, so take those problems into account if you consider playing, just know it actually isn't as bad as the other anons constantly claim it to be. One last thing though, did you download the patches as well? Because you need them if you want to get past the agroprom.

The faction trader's files should only contain optics, weapons and suits, and relegating high tier suits and weapons to orders a la CoP Nimble. You can get a decent weapon pretty quickly, even without looting Wolf's helpers, which helps you boost past the "can't kill anything" stage.

The only real issues with it is that most non-sniper guns have crappy accuracy, there's a LOT of backtracking, and a lot of quest-related information is either not marked, vague, or mistranslated. However, this can be managed by looting/selling artifacts (even the common ones will get you enough money to live off of), using the guides when you unlock them (they take you just about anywhere), and looking up some stuff online.

I did, and I am enjoying it so far, going to continue right now. Will report back. Also yes, applied all the patches as well. I was even able to fix the head bobbing issue and tone it down which was going to be a deal breaker for me originally.

As for saves corrupting, thats just STALKER for you. Wasn't able to finish my first time with AA 2.1, game wouldn't let me get into the NPP without crashing. Either way, I still enjoyed it immensely.

I also plan to give SiG mod a chance or how ever its spelled, for CoP.


I also lowered the difficulty to Veteren, I don't think that actually did anything and I felt guilty about it, but I was able to get past after doing that, so no idea if it was a contributing factor. I may turn it back up in the future.

With CoC STCOP is there any sort of weapon spawn editing for who gets what weapons? Just something that adds more variety to enemy loadouts. I find that there's little point to using anything but a 5.45 rifle for a long trek since refilling ammo with any other rifle caliber or even shotgun shells are a fucking pain in the ass. Next to no one uses 7.62x39mm which means I either kill my own faction or buy it at jacked prices from traders as I sprint from map to map. If I try to use a Scar or SVT I've got no nope in hell of finding ammo out and about.

It's hard to say exactly, but really ao or stcop should provide more than enough fun while I'm working on this. I'm currently in the process of aligning weapons with picatinny rails so it shouldn't take long, but as I've said before it depends on how much time I feel like putting into it. Though, I'm torn about having the scar L in for the first release - I'd like to modify the stcop scar h to be a scar l instead of using the shoker scar (which looks very similar but uses like 6 or 7 textures instead of 1 :v)

As far as I know the original idea behind OGSE was restoring old features and the old storyline(?). No it's on 1.10 now, I suggest you download it, its only like a gig and half. It'll be worth it.

Actually now that I think about it, you have to down the first mod merge version, which is in the repo, then just the small 1.10 patch applied to it. The base download is the 1 1/2 gig download, at least I think its that much, I forget.

Actually no! I have tried this.

Wait, no, ok well first, back up your WORKING mooded game, completely, stick it somewhere, then go ahead and add mod options from I guess the latest SRP only 1.10. The things that DON'T WORK are "Alternate Ballsistics" and the DX10 patch. I think the rest work but don't take my word, just give it a shot. Altered Ballistics doesnt work because AO has its own ballistics, and I don't know why the DX10 patch causes crashing. I think all the other options work but not 100% sure.

Only problems is, I know one point in the there is a Duty member who if you talk to crashes the game, its a simple fix and its on the SRP mod page, not too far in the comments at all.

Then also theres another fix for a sleeping bag disappearing issue I had that the dev posted on /sg/, dont remember if I saved it or not but check Moddb and message or leave a comment. If your sleeping bag is working fine then I guess just continue on.

The only things I didn't like were that the enemies just were just too god damn bullet spongy, once you get mid game weapons, people go down faster but in the beginning it was a little annoying, especially coming from other mods where damaged was upped a lot.

DX10 is probably crashing for you because you either arent using DX10, or dont need it. Its only IF you were having crashes from 10 beforehand and needed a hotfix.

The way that works is that the numbers at the top are basically the percentage that weapon lies between the min and max value. You can find real values (the second set of numbers) and the new interpolated values (which is calculated using the percentage and the min and max values).

At this point I'm just editing weapons and getting things set up. I'm at around 25 left (last time I posted the number it was 52 I think). But that also includes some weapons I'm not sure I want to expend the effort on for the first release since I'm not wanting to push it back anymore.

Ammunition is the most important part of the damage in this mod. The muzzle velocity damage bonus will be added to the weapons hit_power (every weapon has a hit power of 0.5 without the bonus I believe). And I'm not sure what you mean by absolute values, but if you mean using the actual game values, they are the second set of numbers. Editing that will cause the sheet to modify the percentage automatically assuming you kept the formula for that cell.

Mercs need no bases anon, you just do jobs. You do need to roleplay a bit to make CoC more interesting as every faction. In my playthrough, I've edited Warfare a bit to make them less willing to take over bases but perfectly capable of securing their HQ.
So I just run around the zone doing odd jobs and hanging out with a new crew every once in awhile.

got a freshly updated version of CoC, im trying to add more missions and maybe a larger variety of monsters?

dont really care for more guns, but i do wish the trading mechanisms werent so flawed. id like people to either drop mint condition weapons or for the trader to not only buy mint condition weapons

Well, here:

Assuming that enemy health lies between 0 and 1, the damage is calculated in a following fashion:

1. If bullet didn't penetrate the armour (k_ap <= BPC), the formula is as follows:

hit_power * k_hit * BDC * hit_fraction

BPC stands for bone protection coefficient from damages.ltx (number in the second row)

BDC stands for bone damage coefficient from m_stalke.ltx (numbers in the first row)

2. If bullet has penetrated the armour (k_ap > BPC):

max{k_hit * hit_power * BDC * (1 - BPC/k_ap), hit_fraction * BDC}

Now, once k_ap values goes above 0.75, the formulas are no longer true -- something really bad starts happening, where NPCs would start dying after getting shot once in a fucking foot. I'm not sure what causes such extreme increase in the damage output to the point where it gets out of control, because even with bleeding disabled, NPCs would still die as fast. Maybe the thickness of character's hitbox somehow affects this. Although I haven't tried it, I think it may be possible to offset this using very small k_hit and hit_power values.

Another solution is to, well, just stick with k_ap values smaller than 0.75, but in this case you won't be able to have ammunition capable of piercing obstacles, which makes the gunplay somewhat shallow.

I did it when I first played it. It wasn't crazy, I only remember crashing quite a few times but then again, I think my standards were lower back then.

SGM is shit in the optimisation department. Disable mines and extra anomalies if you can. Even then, looking towards the center of the zone in Jupiter can lead to serious drops. Zaton does that too but a little less. I've also noticed that as the more you play, the more prominent the issue is. Probably some garbage collection issue ?

Anyway, in my case, the only thing that kinda improved it was overclocking and disabling hyperthreading if you do have that. You just have to deal with it, it's the worst "soup". Even doppelganger works better.

I have a 770 though with 4GB of VRAM so I figured this wouldn't be an issue. Also CS and SoC run like butter(at least CS does on DX9).

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, this is due to something in the engine. Basically you have a radius around the actor, and when NPCs/mutants enter the radius their AI comes "online" causing a stutter. There's a cvar somewhere, I don't know what it is but I'm sure someone here knows, that lets you expand the radius to be much bigger, causing fewer stutters.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Wasn't aware it was that sensitive to things, though I suppose that explains why everyone thinks 9x39 is op as fuck (k_ap = 1.1 in ao3, around 0.83 or so for stcop). Though I do see in vanilla coc they do not go above 0.75. I think I may just adjust everything to be within the bounds of 0.75 using an excel sheet and a program to read variables from it and write out the new files in some output directory, that way things stay consistent without breaking the damage formula.

If that makes gunplay seem not so great for people I'll try the hit_power adjustment.

All I can say is I experience stutters pretty often, and it is definitely related to the AI. I was playing in Dead City recently and as soon as I approach the bar to the north of the map it starts stuttering every time.

Ah, I forgot to mention: by default, mutants don't use bone protection coefficients i.e. k_ap doesn't affect the damage you deal to them. Again, I haven't tried it, but I think it's possible to give them "armour" by adding the bone protection section to their respective ltx file in configs/model/capture.

Swapped to 500m switch_distance and 1 objects_per_interval, this seems to be significantly better. Also swapped CPU affinity to only use cores 2, 3, 4, and high CPU priority. FPS is up, stutters are down. Give it a try fellas.

Will the M16A2 with pic-related classical heatshield for the grenade launcher be in? I love the look of it so much, it's my raifu easily.

Also it'd be cool to see some laser attachments to weapons as well, like for side-rails. I don't see why not, especially for people who like to play with ironsights off for immersion but still like the benefits of hip firing with a clear line of aim.

and eventually i'll add this to all pistols (old pic). I also have the laser sights from BF4 as well as some others I found on gamebanana depending on what looks better.

On the note of pistols though, I'm thinking these sights will be done: docter, rmr, deltapoint, and aimpoint micro. I have two universal mounts, though weapons like the glock don't actually need it as they use their own thing.

Yeah it actually makes firing from the hip without a crosshair pretty easy. It all works, I just gotta add it to all the pistols pretty much. My goal is to eventually add as many attachments as I can for pistols over time as well - the red dot sights make them more usable at longer ranger.

Call of Chernobyl has me at a loss, the game works fine before any patches but as soon as I try and get the 1.3.20 update to work it just flat out won't open. I can see a brief CMD display then nothing.

I ran cocdater as you said and nothing happened as normal but something caught my eye, it was the Nortan symbol glowing and twirling and what not and it turns out that cock sucker has been secretly preventing cocdater from getting needed files from the internet thus giving me my instant crash and explains why the version never updated.
